But Festivus isn’t until December 23!

  • MikeB

Quick update. Just called an ind. retail. outside our mall and she said they are definitely selling them tomorrow. Only have 4 in stock and already pre-sold 3, so I got the last one, unofficially of course. She took down all my info and has everyhting waiting. Of the 4 main VZW stores I called not one admitted to having the nexus in stock WTF. Did say though for me to call her at 10 in the morning just to make sure everything is still good to go before I drive up there???. I have an original droid and this has been going on since the introduction known as the  debacle of the Bionic.  She said she could give me an extra $8 for trading in my droid. That made her really laugh. Its going to be a long night.

    • MikeB

Also to add I left my name and number with 3 local corporate stores 2-3 hours ago of course when they had no idea when the Nexus would be released and would not tell me if they had any in stock.Never have heard back from them. Ridiculous.

      • 2Ceedz

Yeah, my girl has yet to call me, im really disappointed… If i dont hear from her will go online or maybe even Costco for my upgrade

  • Christopher Riner

okay, lets start hearing all of the “We L*V# you, verizon” ‘s

  • Anonymous

Im glad for y’all. I hope its everything you hope it to be.

    For real.

    • 2Ceedz

Thanks, so do we, LOL.  😉   With all the phones being so buggy upon release, we must keep expectations realistic.  (Especially with VZW messing with it and updating it).. LOL

I also want to thank you for not ?wanting? one, but not hating on the MANY of us that do, just for the unlocked bootloader on VZW.  Have a RAZR here, is nice, but too much blur crap on it (used to stock… like my DROID).

      • Anonymous

Yeah Ive messed with stock Android and I dont like it. The ROM I have on my Bionic has a fork in the road for keeping Blur or De-Bluring it completely. I kept Blur.

Even on my unlocked Atrix running CM7 and is pretty much a ICS clone is frustrating to use. I just prefer the Bionic’s version of Blur.

    • Darthseph23

Agreed mate.  TBH, I will be keeping my Razr.  I am not keen on the phone’s design and really haven’t liked Samsung phones in the past. Kudos to those of you that will find enjoyment with the phone.  Stock ICS really was the only major selling point for me regarding the GalNex.  While that was nice, once I got to see and play around with the Razr I was set.

I don’t use stock launchers though, so I really don’t notice BLUR at all in the phone.  Go Launcher runs perfectly fine, and BLUR isn’t really in any of the major settings or calling features.  I pretty much run the GO line of products for interfacing and the BLUR lies in the background as the interface for the hardware.  If all I see of BLUR is the dialer and the settings, I’m fine with that.

Kudos guys, enjoy you GalNexes.  – From A former OG user

  • Anonymous

Thank God its official cant wait to get my hands on it tommorow. Tonight Skyrim will be put away so I can get to bed early.

    • I wouldn’t go that far.  I need to decapitate a few more in the game. Stores open at 9AM, I will be working by 5AM, and I have a meeting until 9AM.  I should be at the VZW store by 9:15AM.  If they still have them, great.  If not, $100 less at Amazon.com.

      • You sure it will be 100 less on amazon?

  • Brad

I got to play with one today at a Verizon. IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE

  • Anonymous

what was the final word on those promotional flyers in the mail? i have my $50 upgrade and received a $30 mailer, but no matter what i did, the reps on the phone would not let me use it.

  • gadgetryan

    • 2Ceedz

      @droid_lifeDroid Life
$650. Just confirmed with a store. RT @NickInLA: @droid_life Any word on off-contract pricing?

      • 2Ceedz

        Tweet straight from Droid-Life… 🙂

  • I got a call from my local Verizon Store in Portage, Mi and they are holding one for me as well as the extended life battery, screen protector and case.  When she called I asked if they would hold one for me and she said as long as I had an appointment to come in to buy the phone.

I’m really excited, I’m still using a Droid Incredible 1, and am looking forward to playing with Ice Cream Sandwich and really seeing how the camera is after working on the settings and such.  What a long crazy strange ride it’s been to get to this Date.

Enjoy the Ice Cream tomorrow Friends!

  • Are we sure this is getting released tomorrow?  Just called one verizon store and they said they aren’t selling them until friday…  Time to call another store…

Some independent retailers haven’t received their shipment yet. The one in my small town (Bloomer, WI) doesn’t have any yet. No big deal. The corporate store is 20 minutes away from me.

    • They are obviously out of the loop, called my store a bit ago and they said they hadn’t heard anything official yet just all the rumors that everyone else has been reading. I tried to tell him that the official press release is out. I’m sure they will be notified soon.

  • Gerg04

Time for some research in the rooting /rom department. I’m sure our highly talented devs have been cooking something up 😀

Wish the stores were opening extra early like they did for the OG launch.  I don’t know how I’m going to wait until 3pm tomorrow.

The one by our mall has about 15 people sitting by the door already, waiting all night for the morning. Maybe Samsung should do a commercial making fun of them…..oh wait.

  • 15 More hours, wooohoooooo!

It would ne the biggest prank ever if it launched with Gingerbread and ICS was an OTA update…..

  • Anonymous

It might be cold as hell in the northeast right now but getting the Nexus 3 hours before our westcoast friends is gonna be awesome, lol!!!

  • Finally, goodbye Droid Incredible and hell Goodbye HTC entirely for that matter. It’s been fun 😉

  • VerizonHater

Contacted 2 local corporate stores on my break at work about 20 min ago…  First one said they couldn’t hold one for me and that they still don’t know a release date.  Second one said they couldn’t hold one for me (apparently it’s first come first serve in Akron, Ohio), but that they open at 9 am and that they just got approval to sell the Gnex TOMORROW!!  15 hours until I’m holding Ice Cream Sandwich goodness!

    • Well that sucks. I have TWO on hold for me for whenever I get them tomorrow at my local authorized retailer. And they only have 4 in stock to begin with. I’m also getting a call tonight or tomorrow morning from them confirming they can sell them.

    • Jennifer Grlicky

      +1 for my akron boys!

*$30 monthly access for 2 GB of data.*

Doesn’t Verizon have a promotion of doubling the data plan?? Can someone confirm.

    • Heather W

I believe that ended today. I thought I read somewhere on here that the promotion ended 12/14…hmm slap in the face kinda huh?

      • Tim242

They extended it to mid January.

  • Looks as though Costco is carrying this as an “Online Only” item, at least initially.

I posted the e-mail to my website here:  http://briandagan.com/official-costcowireless-advocatemembership-wi

…but lest anyone think I’m fishing for traffic (which I’m not… there’s no advertisements, AdWords, or anything else on my site… I digress), here’s the text of the e-mail response from Costco / Wireless Advocates / Membership Wireless stating the same:

    • Damn, I’m unwilling to wait and I don’t really want to deal with buying a phone online.  What if there’s a problem?  Mail it back? No thanks.  I wanna be able to walk into a store.  So, looks like I’ll be going to my local Verizon store tomorrow…
