Add December 8 to the Galaxy Nexus Launch List (Updated)

galaxy nexus december 8

I’m not even going to say anything, aside from this referencing marketing materials and could mark the start of a campaign rather than a launch date. Quite the list of dates we have going for us now though.

Update: Another December 8 launch date picture has surfaced. It goes into a little more detail on that day potentially being the official day.

Cheers ___ and Vladimir!

Take something from a Bionic user…never believe any dates until Verizon actually announces the phone. Verizon said by the end of the year, so as long as it’s here before January 1st, 2012, they’ve met their deadline. The only reason you guys are so upset about all these dates is because you read blogs like this that throw out every date in existence. Seriously, calm down, and only believe the date once Verizon announces it.

    • Anonymous

      Thank you. +1

    • Anonymous

Correct.   I think if Verizon meant that it was coming out in November THEY would have said so. They said by the end of the year and I’m sure they will deliver…

There is no way they will all of a sudden release this phone out of the blue as a surprise. There will be notice just like with every other phone that has come out. It is starting to look like by the end of this month would be tough… and I’m not happy about it one bit.

    • http://twitter.com/sky_walker24 Kyle Walker

The reason I’m irritated is because they announced the phone over a month ago.  Why announce something that people won’t have the opportunity to buy?

      • Anonymous

People can buy it…in the UK.

      • Mr. S

Uhhh probably for the same reason they don’t just release movies at the theater without announcing them? The purpose is to build up anticipation and excitement… strictly business

        • http://twitter.com/sky_walker24 Kyle Walker

nah, its poor planning and everyone getting ahead of themselves.  One thing Apple does right is they announce a product, then allow people to buy it in no time.  Let your good product shine on its own in the hands of users.  No need to stimulate hype about it.  Compare it to guys with a little dick trying to compensate for it with their affliction shirts and so on….at the end of the day, their dick is still the same size, the hype doesn’t change that.  I know that was a stretch, but you get the point.  They are missing the biggest shopping day of the year btw, do you really think that this small percentage of “phandroids” waiting on this phone is going to make the slightest bit of difference in their overall sales? Probably not.  The earlier they put it out, they longer they can take advantage of the sales from this phone to the ignorant mass market, and the Gnex will only be considered cutting edge for a very short period of time.  They are missing out on a huge opportunity.  The phone will be outdated in no time when these quad core monsters come out.  One last thing, comparing a simple consumer product to the movie industry is the worst argument you ever could have made.  Try to stick within the same industry. Atleast movies give a release date.

    • Anonymous

Perhaps you haven’t been with Verizon long.  I’ve been with them for over 10 years.  After being a customer for that long you start to get used to disappointment.  You begin to expect the worst.  Knowing the release date will not make the phone come any quicker, but it will put my mind at ease and allow me to look at the situation optimistically.  Without a date, I will continue to have this fear that Verizon is going to somehow screw this up and I’ll never get a Nexus…that or it will come out summer of 2012.  Them saying it will be out before the end of the year means absolutely nothing.  When did they originally say the Bionic would be out?  Yeah.

      • Booobo

They never said when the Bionic would be out.  That also was due to these dumb sites printing rumors that their “sources” told them about.

        • Anonymous

They didn’t give a date, but they said back in January that it would be out in the spring. It came out in the fall!

    • http://twitter.com/eatfat_getfit Eat Fat, Get Fit.

      wise words, bro.

  • Anonymous

You should say something, like what this is or where it comes from

  • http://twitter.com/thehammerofthor Jeff Helget

Kellex, this is clearly for marketing materials, not necessarily the phone… we all knew earlier the marketing would commence after the phone is released… look at the descriptions of the other items.  Mark my words, we’ll see the phone next week.

    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

Which is why I’m trying not to say anything. This could mean December 8 or as you suggest, could just mean when marketing materials will be ready.

      • http://twitter.com/thehammerofthor Jeff Helget

Understood.  You should put the fact that it appears to be marketing materials in the description or else people are going to harm themselves without looking closely at the screenshot.

        • http://twitter.com/thehammerofthor Jeff Helget

          Ah, yes very good then!

    • EC8CH

I would have to expect Google and Samsung are putting massive amounts of pressure on VZW to release the G-NEX next week.

  • http://twitter.com/jgalkin Jason B. Galkin

Not to keep any false hope- but the description seems to reflect signage and marketing within the locations. It’s possible these things move out after the phone launches (at least in a web-only platform).

Source: None, but I used to work for VZW.

Damm it! I’m sick of waiting. I was hoping for a 11/21 release. I’m getting a razr to use until the Nexus release.

    • Anonymous

I did the same. It’s actually pretty nice. If it had an unlocked bootloader and ICS I would keep it.

      • http://twitter.com/sandpitbai Rishi

Agreed. I was messing with it at the store and its a decent phone. If the nexus wasn’t coming I would have gotten the razr. I was really hoping for a 11/21 release. At this point, I am tired of waiting and the rumored dates so I’m going to get the razr and return it when the nexus comes.

  • http://twitter.com/Pollita_Droid Erica M.

Yikes! Here we go again with the non stop lists of dates… People are going crazy over this phone already, just give the people what they want.

  • JMac726

Seriously DL, I used to come here hoping for good news, now when I come here I just hope it’s not bad news.

    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

And 2 hours ago we had decided we weren’t going to touch on the G-Nex unless we got screenshots or an announcement and then this showed up. Apologies for the bad news. :(

      • OG Droid

So you think there’s any truth to the pre-order date of the 21st that AC.com is talking about?

      • Anonymous

I know the post says you aren’t going to say anything but is the spreadsheet from a credible source ?

        • Guest

Are any of his sources credible?  He’s batting like .001

      • El El Kool J

Kellen these are just marketing campaign dates.. could be new marketing material for an already released product (G-Nex).. VZW is always sending new ads to retail locations, like window posters.. displays.. etc…

        • Anonymous

How often do they release this stuff AFTER a phone is out.  Doesn’t make sense.

          • Anonymous

It’s like running Super Bowl ads during the Pro Bowl.

        • JMac726

It just says launch date… i thought the marketing dates came out awhile ago as black friday weekend.  If I were to market a phone, I’d start before release date….just saying.  We know what the Nexus is already, but your average consumer doesn’t

    • Anonymous

…but you still come here, and that’s the whole point.

      • JMac726

its an addiction i can’t break

Sadly I am beginning to think P3Droid may have been correct. I fully bashed it as being nonsense, but honestly it could very well be possible.

I think if it were going to be in stores even this next week we would be hearing something about it. I think we are headed into December with this whole fiasco.

It’s my birthday and I am headed to Verizon to buy a new phone. I will exchange for the Nexus if it ever gets here.

      • EC8CH

you hardly ever hear anything from Verizon before a phone is relased.

        • Anonymous

But we have known when each of the last phones were launching. We’ve known it was launching in Europe on the 17th for weeks… and it did.  Nobody knows anything about this phone yet. Someone will at least have to know something about it at least a little before it launches.

          • http://twitter.com/darkzero7 Anthony Mai

We knew about the European launch because it’s not on Verizon in Europe. As Sammy AND Google said, it’s Verizon’s phone.

      • Anonymous

That’s not a bad idea. What do you plan on getting to tide you over? The Razr? The Rezound?

        • Anonymous

To be honest I am having a very hard time deciding.  I have a Bolt now and the Rezound would be similar but better. I also like the Razr….  I keep bouncing back and forth between the two.

          • Anonymous

razr’s pretty nice looking.. my buddy just got one this week.  likes most everything about it except that it gets really HOT.. like uncomfortable and irritating when it’s in his pocket-HOT.  he’s waiting to trade it for the nexus too.  rezound looks like a brick when you see it in person.

          • Anonymous

yeah, i had heard about how hot it gets. i guess the Razr looks so wide b/c it’s so thin. what did your friend think about the screen? does everything look pretty crisp to him?

          • Anonymous

yeah, it looks pretty nice.  although, he falls into the same category as me though, that moto’s pentile screens don’t really bother us.. we’re not ever staring at it an inch from our face to notice the pixels and it does the job on everything else we’re doing.

that said, the rezound’s screen is definitely crisper.  went to vzw with him and saw that right away when i picked it up.  but the phone is uber-thick.

          • Evan

lol, it;’s funny how people say “LOLZ you GOTTA BE AN INCh AWAY TO SEE PENTILE”. Try, If you have a decent pair of eyes, you can see pentile from a solid 3-4 feet away. Seriously. The Rezound screen is MUCH better than the razr’r screen. Not pentile, higher resoltuion and much higher pixel density.

Go with the rezound. Theinner than your bolt, much better screen, and thinner and lighter, faster. and comes with sweet earbuds!

          • Anonymous

No OLED screen, worse radios, lesser build quality, brick thick, slower, heavier, tired design, sense.

          • Tommy1

Do you have a rezound?  I do and it’s an awesome phone.  This is coming from someone who has own two moto phones (DX and D3) in the past.  And pentile stinks.  You can dress it up with all the OLED glory you want.  It still looks like crap.

          • Anonymous

To you maybe, to others we aren’t as OCD as you. You know what’s funny, no one gave a crap about pentile until some idiot on one site made a big stink with his zoomed in pictures and as usual all the other sites piggybacked onto it. The Nexus One and S both had pentile screens as did the Incredible and the entire lineup of Galaxy S phones yet there wasn’t a peep about those.

AMOLED screens offer superior contrast, color gamut, response time, viewing angles and tend to draw less power overall.

          • Anonymous

It doesn’t sound like you have owned one.

I’m putting things into perspective, since there’s so much fanboy nonsense always being thrown around here.

Everyone that craps on the Bionic doesn’t own one, case in point the nextroll who responded to you.

          • Guest

            ..

          • Anonymous
          • Anonymous

Yeah, advantages and disadvantages to both. The screen goes to the Rezound but the form factor looks great on the Razr. I don’t know if the Razr would be too wide though. Looks kinda unwieldy. I saw one review that said the Rezound was a little laggy d/t to TouchWiz. Not sure how true that is.

          • Anonymous

width isn’t too bad on the RAZR.  really not too much of a difference between it and the bionic.  they’re both big phones.

          • Zebra

Do you really need a new phone that bad? Save your $35 and just wait a week or 2 more….

      • Anonymous

Go for it.. $35 isn’t too bad to lose on the restocking fee and you have until mid-January.  Happy Birthday!

      • LionStone

Hey Happy Bday! Don’t worry, we will have it next week so you wont get to play with the rental for very long :-)

Kleen, my B Day was on the 7th of this month and I will just wait till Dec.  I know how you feel brother, it’ll be here shortly.  :)

        • JDRyan

I got both you guys beat. My birthday was back in July and I was holding out FOREVER for the Bionic, then was over it and thought I would torture myself some more by holding out for the G-Nex. My OG Droid is practically being held together by super glue at this point! Verizon needs to get their shit together cuz this is getting ridiculous! At least give us a date and stick to it!

          • Anonymous

I hear you man, it looks like very soon if the rumor of Dec 8 holds true :)

      • Anonymous

        It’s your birthday, bro?

    • Brett Ward

the g-nex isnt being pushed to december, would you read the actual chart please? nothing there says anything about the release of anything, just the sending of marketing materials to stores

      • El El Kool J

your exactly right brett.. Verizon would always mail out marketing material for phones that are already out. just some new campaign or new colorful ad to draw new attention.. hence the i*hone merchandising as well..

        • Shipstylin

only problem is those have the word refresh next to them Nexus does not. :-(

      • Anonymous

Yes, however…this chart a few weeks ago had a November date, so the whole thing has moved.

        • Anonymous

You ever seen a grown man cry?

            Unfortunately.

          • Anonymous

            LOL!!  That cracked me up

        • bigrob60

On the chart, the left column lists the quarter, and quarter 4/2011 is listed for the Nexus. The next column is launch/end date 12/8/11. Maybe that is the end for the original launch push w/ a new Nexus marketing campaign after 12/08. Just a Thought.

Also, with the Moto HD possibly launching in December it seems weird that VZW wouldn’t have another nice shiny toy for black friday.

Yes and no. Traffic is a huge thing for any website, which means you want to bring content to a website that people want to read. That’ 100% true for 100% of websites.

People want to hear about the date it’s coming out, the fact that it’s ever-changing has been quite the debacle and it’s actually bringing a lot of tension to the situation, which makes it a good story for a quick post because there are THOUSANDS of people pining for the immediate release of this device. They’re also clearly not milking these updates either, Kellex just said they’d decided to back down on posting, even.

All of this being said, I can’t wait for an official announcement. My heart can’t take much more of this.

        • http://www.larinx.com Larinx VB

You can’t really believe they’re gonna back down on the posting, right?  It’s all about hits.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Kellex has named every week till the end of the year…

          Guess what….

lots of reading want to hear rumors of the Nexus release date.

        • Justintime

Here’s a thought – when Kellex says it’s rumor, treat it as it is, a rumor.  If you don’t like that, wait for the TV commercials to start so you don’t get “bad quality discussions”.  I for one want to know all the rumors and appreciate it.

          • GNex

this isn’t even considered a ‘rumor’
            it’s mis-posting content using a misleading title

Yep, DL needs to stop teasing us, shit ain’t cool. Kellex I’m sure knows the firm release date but he’s keeping it secretive just like Verizon themselves.

        • EC8CH

no doubt nice phone, but still not a Nexus.

        • Carlos34

It will be a close battle between the razr and the nexus. I personally will pick the razr over the nexus.

This is an advertisement schedule, read it closely, the only thing they are mentioning is in store graphics

    • Anonymous

Worse yet, if they don’t start advertising until the 8th when could it possibly release?

Verizon is really starting to suck balls with this Nexus release.

      • EC8CH

not any worse than their release of the Nexus One.

      • Anonymous

Imagine being on any other carrier in the US and not even knowing whether it will come at all.  I bet AT&T customers were assuming they would get it, and then AT&T is stupid enough to ask them if they want it, which should have been a rhetorical question.  I feel bad for any company that is so disconnected from their customers.

        • Anonymous

But guess what…. If I were on AT&T or T-Mobile I could import the Nexus NOW and activate it and be happy as a pig in mud.  Which means that if you want a Galaxy Nexus you could get one NOW if you were on those carriers.

Being on Verizon I am NOT able to get the phone AT ALL.

So which carrier is better… the one that you can get one now, or the one you have no idea when it will ever show up.  For crying out loud even the demo units they are providing everyone are activated on T-Mobile.

          • Anonymous

You’re not serious, are you? Yes, if you were on either of those carriers, you could have a 16GB non-4G Galaxy Nexus right now. Congratulations! Personally, I’m fine with waiting for the Verizon version, but there’s still no excuse for Verizon announcing it, but still not revealing the release date. Other than greed and stupidity of course.

Yes. Like I said before phones usually take a month to be in store after hitting the FCC. Dec 15th (if the phone is released at all) seem like the date it will be available.

There’s no point, though! The people buying the Nexus are all super-interested in rooting the device and getting rid of everything that they don’t want before they even send a damn text message with the thing.

No, it says “Launch / End Date” – they are separate. Which means, it’s indicated as the launch day. #sigh

      • LionStone

I take it as End of launch for materials/advertising whatever…

we already KNOW its coming in NOV!

        • Anonymous

“Launch/End Date” means the launch or end of that particular marketing campaign..
