Samsung VP Shows Off Galaxy Nexus Features to Fox, Hopes Verizon Lets Us Know a Price and Release Soon

Samsung’s VP of Product Planning Nick DiCarlo, stopped by the set of Fox Business Network yesterday to showcase more of our favorite mystery-dated phone, the Galaxy Nexus. In his brief time on air, DiCarlo dropped a facial unlock on the world followed by Ice Cream Sandwich’s new real-time voice recognition typing feature. The hosts were more-than-impressed I’d say, but that’s not the juicy stuff from this little interview.

When asked when the phone would be available, all he had to say at first was, “Just a little bit later this year.” Pretty vague, right? Then just seconds later the question of price was brought up and he responded with, “Well, hopefully Verizon will let us know very soon. It’s their phone, they know.” Talk about offloading the pressure onto the other guy.

We currently have a couple of potential dates and prices, but again, nothing is official until Big Red makes it official. So far though, we are assuming it will drop in at $299 on contract and about $649 off. The most recent date we saw was November 21 with “web only” availability.

So we ask too, “When, where and for how much, Verizon?”

Cheers Larry!

Hopefully next monday we will get a release. Im thinking so as Verizon seems to be putting all their eggs into one basket with the Razr and the rest are just there but everyone who’s anyone knows that the real star of the show is the nexus. Verizon of course, isnt anyone lol. :P

  • Desperate_for_Gnex

Kellex, can you please give us your strongest feeling on release date, based on what your sources have told you?  Please??

Like this if you want to know, too.

  • Karnaj

I talked to a rep yesterday and she tried to find it but when she couldn’t find a release date or it being in the system at all she gave up and tried to sell me another phone I told her I didn’t want a different phone lol

  • Anonymous

the female announcer said “later this month”  (0:18-0:20) and the samsung guy said “Just a little bit later this year.”

seem like nobody can get their story straight.

    • Xroid

Later this month, is just a little bit later this year. This year is almost over.

They are doing the same thing that the nexus trolls do. They go into a razor post and start saying why would you buy this if it has blur bla bla bla. This device is garbage.

    • Anonymous

This is the best post of the week :)

  • JD

Had an interesting call with Verizon this morning:

I asked if I could upgrade to the Galaxy Nexus phone and the response was “The Samsung Galaxy Nexus? Let me check. Currently, we have the following Samsung phones …(she listed a bunch), but I don’t see the Nexus.” Can I put you on hold and see what I can do?”
    I replied, “Yes.”

She came back, after 5 minutes and said, “I am sorry the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is not yet available to customers, but it will be soon.” Sign up for the most recent updates at verizonwireless.com/galaxynexus

    …….

Man I was so hoping!!!! I thought I almost had it….. It must be close. The response I got 3 days ago was,  “there is no such phone as the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and if it did come to Verizon it would be called something different.”

    • Anonymous

haha, I tried to sucker the CS at Verizon last night as well for a release date.  She said she know about the phone but not the details.

  • WindedBison

    Where’s the Nexus Lebowski? Where’s the f**king Nexus sh**head?

I wish i could truly show my excitement in a comment about getting this phone….

    I’M SOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!
    maybe that’ll work  :P

  • vincent scala

i just want this phone already i had a thunderbolt but got rid of it cuz of battery got a droid 3 then switched to the bionic then had to return the bionic for money reasons :( was gonna wait to get the bionic again then found out about the nexus so now i’m stuck with this D3. and i haven’t bothered with spending the time to personalize it to my liking cuz i figured i wouldn’t have it long but at this rate i might. at least i rooted and dumped the bloatware. I’ve wanted a nexus for the longest as soon as i jumped to Verizon the nexus one came out.

  • Naergoth

Each passing day makes verizon look even more idiotic than the day before. Google slammed verizon, and now samsung slams verizon.

Amazon in the UK is now showing that the Galaxy Nexus is not available until December 2.

What happened to November 17th in the UK?

        • Anonymous

I keep saying this device will be available in Verizon January second of 2012 :)

If the Verizon version shows up with a locked Bootloader(notice how I just said the VERIZON version…because like Nick DiCarlo said “It’s their phone”) I’m gonna laugh until my balls fall off.

      I’ve never seen anything that confirms that it’s bootloader ISN’T encrypted……just sayin…..

      • http://www.facebook.com/borgey401 Andrew Borges

too bad i know a few people with one and it’s not locked at all. thanks for the laugh though

        • Anonymous

You “know” a “few”(meaning more than two) people in Rhode Island with Verizon Galaxy Nexus’?

          Right.

          Video proof sir.

          • Anonymous

I want to see the faces of these sheep if this device has a lock bootloader lol :)

      • http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/RXFWXDUWRRHCGFV6NP2SDZ7YLU Ray

It wouldnt be a nexus if it wasnt unlocked

        • Anonymous

Personally I don’t think a “pure google” experience I.E. Nexus demands a unlocked bootloader….just pure stock Android.

I know that every version other than Verizon’s will be unlocked……but it’s common knowledge that Verizon likes to lock things down……that’s all i’m sayin…

      • Anonymous

It would be a win-win still, cuz by then, both the RAZR and the Rezound should be below $299.

So people, just wait for the GNex, then decide. That would be the smartest thing you would do to close the year with.

        Trust me.

      • whoster69

Impossible.  It is obvious you lost your balls long ago.

    • whoster69

Yeah nice job taking a serious movement that is about equality and making it about you getting a phone.

      Douche…

  • Anonymous

Samsung should have taken the opportunity on Fox to explain to it’s base why the Gnex is being delayed by Verizon. It’s not like Samsung doesn’t know.

oh by the way.. PHUCK YOU  Verizon.

  • Sumit Banerjee

This is at least a week or two old

  • rob

    299 for the 32gb or 16gb version?

    • JoeInMo

Here’s what I’ve been told:  Verizon will only have the 32GB version at launch.  It will be $299 for new customers or customers that have used their final “new every 2″ upgrade.  If you still have a “new every 2″ upgrade left (the program is expired) you can get it for $249 with a 2 year extension.

I stop by my local VZW store all the time to handle phones and say what’s up to those guys all the time. Those guys there are waiting for some type of information to come out about the Nexus as well. Everyone in that store wants to get it.. it’s definitively a hot phone…

I think the reason for the early rezound orders..the nexus is approaching soon.

Really? The last article the other day when you tried this garbage I gave you 2 or 3 to which of course you smartly didn’t reply at all.

You’re right, there is nothing to debate. You do nothing but troll and complain or just act like a jealous fool. Actually that’s pretty typical of OCCC/Harvard on the Hill grads.

would that price be 16 or 32 gig, or are rumors true and they will only have the 32?

Or have you not heard that.

      • Anonymous

pricing is based on 32. I’ve only seen one reference to a 16 and that was at the end of Oct just before Halloween and not since.

Now of course since I didn’t have it notarized and shot on a 1080p video for at least 42 seconds ol Dom will complain. /s

  • Dominick DeVito

Verizon can release this now if they wanted to, but won’t. They invested money into the Rezound and Razr and probably told HTC and Motorola not to worry. The marketing blitz will move ahead for the two phones then Verizon will release this bad boy.

Consider it the “stock Android” tax.

  • Bbrutcher

well at least they are damned certain it will be out this month…….its all over the damned video!  dying to get rid of my pos x2!!!

    • Anonymous

Wow really?  The X2 is not very old, and the original X was a pretty decent phone.

      • Bbrutcher

i had the x but the radio kept going out on it so they replaced it with the x2 and i hate this damned thing!  worst camera ever and no matter what i try the stupid thing won’t stop rebooting sometimes 7 or 8 times a day and it doesn’t care if i’m talking on  it or not when it does it.  mind you this is the 2nd one i’ve had.  they finally just let me have my choice of upgrade and was going to wait for the bionic but then found out it was going to have the same shitty screen that i have now so now waiting  for the nexus!  :)

  • Derp

100% sure its the stupid RAZR’s fault that we have no date yet.  After tomorrow Verizon will say the 17th, trust  me I have an inside source

    • Bbrutcher

      hope your source is right!!

      • Anonymous

He has no source, but it is nice of him to try and lift our spirits.  For the sake of feeling good I will accept the 17th.  Then when that comes and goes I will say to myself I’ll only have to wait till the 21st. Then if that comes and goes I know it will be close.

        • WindedBison

if the 21st comes and goes with no announcement i’ll probably shoot myself in the face

    • Dominick DeVito

    • JD

    • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

I say you’re wrong only because the Rezound is coming out Monday. On Tuesday Verizon will announce the Nexus can be ordered online on the 17th.

And then I will order it with overnight shipping :-D

    • Anonymous

yeah quad core phones will be here soon… if you feel 4-6 mos is “soon”…  I’ve been waiting for this for so long I don’t give a damn what future release rumors come out meow!  After desperately waiting for this phone for several months, which comes along with being addicted to nexus rumors/posts, I can’t take it anymore!  You can tell me the galaxy nexus 2 is coming in feb with quad core & I still wouldn’t care.  Give it to me dry, no spit!  I’m sure OG owners feel that way even more so at this point.

  • Chris G

if this does go web only, how do we upgrade our line to keep the unlimited data?  I assume it is fairly simple, but we’re talking about vz here so….

    • mm777

from what i under stand you can go in store and order with them to ship to you.

    • Anonymous

Or just call in, it’s really not an issue at all.  You have nothing to worry about.

Yeah this is a great phone and all if you don’t mind the bugs, non-integrated software system, non-concrete update schedules, and lack of basic features of what phones should be in late 2011.

Do yourself a favor and get an iPhone 4S. It trumps any Android device on the market in every single aspect.

          • Woz

How so? People are just upset to hear the truth that the iPhone 4S is always going to be sleeker, faster, more integrated and give an overall better performance than any Android supported phone released for a long time. Android is playing catch up and and loosing fast to Apples innovative features such as Siri.

          • Anonymous

LOL Ok Wiz, We are very happy you enjoy your little iphone on 3g. Maybe next year it will even be better  if they give you a bigger screen and even let you upgrade to 4g. Who did you say is behind the curve?

            LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

LOL, oh ya that is right, AT&T can’t even give that to you but in a couple cities…. lol

          • Woz

I had the HTC Thunderbolt before the 4S. I prefer a smaller screen so my thumb can reach the other side of the sreen while holding it. And 4G didn’t matter to me since my home and work internet Wifi was always 20mbps+ and I was rarely away from either.

          • Anonymous

I’m sure your girlfriend said the same thing about size when she started dating you.

          • Anonymous

He has nothing she can’t reach with the slightest of movements. The reason he thinks the iphone is so big is because he is what we refer to as a “little person”.

I thought he just had tiny hands.

          • Anonymous

Thats a pretty flawed article. I can reach every corner of my 4.3in screen and I don’t consider myself to have large hands by any means.

Also, I have two hands…so theres that in an emergency.

          • Anonymous

At least I don’t have midget hands and fingers.  I have no interest in reading some article explaining why their phone is so tiny.  I have no need to go to a site that has nothing that I am interested in.

Instead of Woz I am going to call you IttyBitty from now on.

          • TC Infantino

Why is it exactly that the iPhone trolls start out by saying that the iphone is so much better than any android phone…then when people point out all the specs and features that android phones have had long before the iphones the trolls start saying that they prefer their phone to have: 1) smaller screen- it fits my hand better, 2) no 4G- Oh well..I don’t need or want faster data speeds, 3) non-customizable- Oh, the homescreen is perfect the way it is, and I don’t like/need widgets…etc.  Face it apple fanboys you have Steve Jobs phone, exactly the way HE wanted it and no way to really make it uniquely yours.  And yes, the ipwn is way behind the tech curve in screen size, data speeds, custimizability, and oh yeah…market share.  Let the numbers speak for themselves Android phones now have just about double the market share of smartphones as apple does.  Keep lying to yourselves that your fruit phone is the best…if it makes you feel better.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Robert-Welch/645650710 Robert Welch

Siri isnt even an apple creation. They bought that. Android had such an application long before apple bought siri. At least android can create something. At the end of the day its user preference, although I think Android devices offer more option, and way more innovation. The iPhone 4s just doesn’t compare to Android devices like the RAZR, or especially the Galaxy Nexus. Don’t come onto an android site to trash talk a product that is making your iPhone look like the paperweight that it is. Have fun with 3g for the next two years bud.

          • rocketdaddy

Personal Assistant has been available on Android for a long time. Works as good as Siri. (On my OG!)

          • Woz

Apple bought it and DEVELOPED it. Don’t be naive and think it came like that when it was bought.

          • Hamholla

http://youtu.be/MpjpVAB06O4 … it looks like it was pretty well completed when they bought it. Thank you Stanford Research institute.

LOL the guy in the video sounds like Taco from The League

          • Christephor

The only thing apple did with siri is integrate it into they’re os. youd be naive to think otherwise. apple never invents anything all they do is buy and integrate and call they’re own

Hate to break this to you but Siri was killed in a tragic accident last night..

          • Anonymous

I thought about the 4S, but I’ve decided to trade off Siri for Google Voice integration in Android and 4G. I hate itunes. and my ecosystem is gmail, gcal, facebook, which Android does fine. I don’t know what integration you’re referring to. I admit iOS is a smoother experience and Apple has done a fine job optimizing their software for their hardware, but that certainly can’t be a dealbreaker for getting an Android.

If your phone can take pictures, email, browse and talk fine, then for the most part you’re set. I’d consider that to be the ‘basic set of features phones should have in 2011′

Siri is too gimmicky for me. It’s cool, and I’d use it for like two weeks, then just never use it again. The only reason I consider the iPhone every upgrade period is that I own a lot of iTunes stuff that I just can’t use on Android (like movies & TV shows). I really love the that aspect of the ecosystem. Though obviously not enough yet to make the leap as similarly, the rest of my digital life is all Google!

          • Adaephon

The 4S has the best mobile GPU – good if you play graphics-intensive games a lot on your phone. It’s the first iPhone I’d actually consider buying.

But most high-end Android phones (I have a Galaxy S2) have:- Faster CPUs- Better screens- True multitasking- Better turn-by-turn navigation- More supported networks- Better overall features (out of the box I can stream DiVX/XvID videos over wireless DLNA, copy files from my home LAN via Samba, FTP/SFTP, etc., download updates, complete backup and restore, all on my phone, it’s really a small computer with phone functionality, rather than just a smartphone)Siri wouldn’t be a plus for me. I don’t really want to converse with my phone. I don’t even use voice input and Vlingo on my S2 when they’ve been around forever. If I had to buy a smartphone now, I’d probably still pick the S2, and it’s a 6-month old phone. From where I sit, it’s Apple/iOS that’s playing catchup – even blatantly copying Android’s notification panel. And I’m still on Android 2.3. The gap will even be wider with Android 4.0.

          • Anonymous

if android is playing catch up why did IOS5 copy so many things from android?

          • Christephor

apple had nothing to do with siri they just bought the company who made the app and apples really leading the way coming out with this brand new thing called notification bar (btw its amazing) o ya and if Android was only on 1 phone per year like the iphone is more people would have the Android phone thank God its not though because android is about making your device your own my friend can have the same device i have but when you turn on the screen they look like totally different phones witch is freaking awesome Dont get me wrong the iphone is a badass phone but imo Android will always be my favorite because i can do what i want whenever i want and ill admit if there was no Android i would have the iphone in my hand but thank God there is Android and I dont have an iphone in my hand

          • http://www.facebook.com/borgey401 Andrew Borges

LOL Catch up? Wait a second, didn’t IOS JUST GET NOTIFICATIONS? Talk about innovative though right? Please Android has had things like Siri for a long time now. Once again you fail. Sorry but I don’t call device with 550mhz or so of RAM, 1.0ghz processor and a tiny screen (that is beaten in screen tech by Samsung which is well known now) innovative. Not to mention they’re still 3G. That’s more along the lines of pathetic than innovative…….

          • Ahsan

My dad has the iPhone 4s. Siri sucks. It’s only useful for looking up things on the web, which my phone can do just as fine. But wait, my phone can open apps also! Trust me, every single person I know with the 4s has never used Siri.

Angelface is a 12 year old puppet who probably still wears diapers, droid life would certainly be better without he/she/it/thing.

Lol, Android has always been ahead from day one.

        • Woz

Oh I didn’t know Android had Retina Displays and Siri before the iPhone?

          • Karnaj

lol Uhmmm yeah stupid Android had Voice search before the Iphone4s and speak to type before the iphone4s Dual core phones before Iphones and dual core tablets before iphone the S in Iphone4s stands for Stupid.

          • CoCo

yeah and im glad hes enjoying his notifications, tab browsing cloud services OTAs and NFC…oh wait
            idiot.

          • Woz

I have all that but tabbed browsing on my iPhone 4S.

Tabbed browsing? I have that on Safari on my iPad 2 on iOS5.

            Idiot.

          • Ahsan

You don’t have NFC. Stop lying to yourself. Oh wait, because you don’t have it, it sucks! When Tim Cock announces it “apple is always innovating!~!!!!!!1 let me blow you again tim!!”

          • Woz

Siri does NOT = Voice Search. It’s an assistant, not a search.

          • Anonymous

Siri was bought by Apple, not created by Apple. Android Assist was out b4 Siri was adopted to iOS for ur information. I’m very happy with my display on my DX. Watch movies just fine on out.

          • Woz

Just saying, it could be Retina.

          • Audhwang

trust me you like getting stuffed up your Retina!!!

          • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

The Galaxy Nexus is “Retina”, so what will you Apple fanboys have to cling to now?

          • Billyrouth2000

Android just had everything b4 the Icraple, duel core , pull down notification, voice recognition, so on and so on, apple is just playing catch up,

          • Woz

Oh, is that why Apple sold 4 Millions iPhone 4S in the first weekend?

          • Woz is A Homosexual

Yes.  It’s also why Android is ahead of Apple by 15 points in market share.  Stay free and enjoy your grid of icons dumbass.  Can iPhones even change their wallpaper yet?

          • Baki

YES THATS WHY..SINCE APPLE FINALLY STOLE ANDROIDS FEATURES TO TRY TO LOOK DIFFERENT FOR ONCE AFTER 5 IOS’S LOL GIVE IT UP IOS IS CRAP AND MOSTLY CRAP U GOTTA PAY FOR

          • Ahsan

Wanna know why it sold so much? Because of the idiots like you who thought it was the “first to innovate” again! Pull down notifications?!?!!?! Voice control?!!?!?!?!!!!!

          • Anonymous

Android has had voice actions that do any of the useful stuff just not able to ask it stupid questions, which is all that Siri is ever used for. Android devices have had IPS screen before the retina display, which is Apple’s adapted IPS screen after they tried buy all the IPS manufacturers. So yes Android already had this.

PS: Siri was released as a app for iOS to give the Android voice app to iPhone users. Apple like it so much they bought it and took it off the market to release it with iOS 5.

          • Woz

Uh this isn’t true at all. I use Siri ALL the time for things that my HTC Thunderbolt’s voice recognition could not do.

As to Androids IPS screens? All you have is qHD at best. Find me an Android with a 326+ DPI screen, like the iPhone 4, and then we can talk.

          • Anonymous

How about we talk when you get something larger than a Jr sized screen running on something other than the old 3g service… lol

P.S. Apple computers are nice… but have you ever heard of PC? You daddy the real Woz even predicted that ios vs. android would end the same as mac vs pc.

That said, of course their products are great…. but that doesn’t really matter in a place that enjoys Android. It would matter more in an Apple forum somewhere. This you don’t seem to understand.

          • Woz

Screen size is personal preference but I know anyone would take Retina display with a higher DPI over a qHD display that lacks definition.

          • Anonymous

Except that the human eye can’t detect difference over 300ppi.  So, the difference between Retina Display and Sammy’s isn’t even applicable.  Unless, that is you want a screen size that you can actually watch for more than 5 minutes.

          • p-nut

who would want to hold a phone close to their face and go crosseyed?  I would much rather hold it a ways back and enjoy that 720p HD goodness.

          • Woz is A Homosexual

LOL it’s PPI you retard.  I swear to god you Apple morons are the epitome of the dumbass American consumer.

          • Woz

Or interchangeably used with DPI (Dots per inch)

          • TJ Egan

DPI is specific to talking about printers. DOTS = paper, PIXELS = screen.

          • Woz

            Retard.

          • http://twitter.com/mandroid89 Matt Tanner

The Galaxy Nexus has a PPI of 319 and the HTC Rezound Has a PPI of 342.  So what in the hell are you saying is so superior about your screen.  BTW iPhone display contrast ratio = 800:1  Galaxy nexus = 100,000:1.  I would stop thinking your display is the best buddy.

          • p-nut

and galaxy nexus has a much higher resolution than either Rezound or iphone

          • Ahsan

Don’t try, Woz won’t reply to the facts. He’ll just keep on pulling “Retina!!!!111!`!1 Siri11!2@!!12!!!” out of his a$$.

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Daniel-DeRosa/100000524887012 Daniel DeRosa

Dear lord… qHD? That’s all we have? Samsung Note 1280×800, HTC Rezound 1280×720, Galaxy Nexus 1280×720. Super AMOLED at 480×800 still makes the iphones screen look like garbage.

          • Anonymous

            STOP AND READ….

Dont give this wos guy the time of day to argue his point about his phone… just ignore him

          • Woz

Yeah don’t argue, because everything I say is 100% true… you can’t deny that.

          • Ahsan

You aren’t replying to the GOOD arguments. What does iOS have that Android doesn’t?

          • Anonymous

It’s funny cause I saw Woz in another thread talking about how hot he thought Robert Pattinson was.  Woz said he was Team Edward all the way!

          • Woz

            All the way.

          • Anonymous

Oh I didn’t know iPhone had 4g… lol    I didn’t know the iphone had voice navigation without buying an app for more than the past 2 years… lol  Didn’t now it had pull down notifications for the past few years.  I didn’t know the iphone wasn’t proprietary in every way….  We could go on and on… yes the iphone is nice but why are you here?

          • Anonymous

Because he asked siri where to find out about better phones and it directed him to this site=)

          • Ahsan

iPhone still doesn’t have turn by turn gps. :D Or widgets. Or a removal battery. Or expandable storage. Or more customization options. And the ability to get free apps without jailbreaking (4shared hehehhe). I could go on. But it looks like Steve Jo- I mean Tim Cook’s cock is too far down your mouth.

          • Anonymous

You must have not understood what I wrote.  I am saying the same thing you are in response to Woz… If you re-read what I wrote you will see that I already know the iphone doesn’t have those things.

I’ll try not to make you look too stupid since I’m sure it was a mistake.

          • Ahsan

Comment was meant for Woz, haha.

          • Anonymous

“Retina” Is a made up word for one and Siri is nearly 2 years old.

          • Woz

Retina =  326 DPI or as most know the highest definition mobile screen on the current market. I was only simplifying it for people since some are not familiar with the terms DPI.

          • Anonymous

Anyone could achieve 326 DPI if they kept their devices at an eye squinting 3.5”.

You act like they’ve done anything, they haven’t, they just refuse to make their screen larger which keeps their DPI high.

The Nexus is 4.65” with 316 DPI and your genius Jobs said after 300 DPI the human eye can’t make out pixels from 12-16”.

          • Anonymous

good thing the htc rezound has a higher dpi=)

          • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_7LPVY47UHLML5T6CPT37WFP7RY Justin

Anyone could just up the DPI slightly from the standard 720p. Apple is the only company that did it so they could market it as the highest. Everyone else stays with the standards, especially considering the eye can’t distinguish between the two.

          • Str8RippinEm

too bad its the size of an LG Chocolate…nice try, thats like having a 27 inch 1080p TV.

          • Str8RippinEm

`Siri is just creepy..and it sucks, it works no better than whatever Android has to offer..my friend made himself look like a bigger dumbass than you while trying to show me it. He, and Siri failed miserably. iPhone is an expensive toy for people who want a simple and boring smartphone experience. I want 4.6 inch screens, customization, endless flashing, good navigation and so on…sorry guy, APPLE SUCKS

      • 8:::::::(,,,,)::::::::D

The funny part is that I assume that your name is suppose to be a derivative of Steve Wozniak, yet hilariously enough, he actually likes android. He’s also predicted that Android vs IOS is going to end just as Apple Vs Windows ended.

Aside: I really don’t think that mad has a bad bone in his body.

        • Anonymous

          Apple vs Windows ended?

With Apple dominationing Windows sales on ALL platforms.

I think he means that Android will become the most common system but Apple will still have a niche market share.

        • Woz

My name has no relation to Wozniak. Apple dominates Microsoft in all platforms.

          • Woz

Minus Vidyah games on the Xbawks.

          • Jake

Except on the only one that really matters….. SALES lol. Apple does come out with some cool stuff there is no arguing that but they always turn around and strangle their own creation. Apple is going to lose to Android because of a lack of development, one thing that android will never have.

Basic features like changing ringtones and notifications, live widgets, sharing of content between apps, and the ability to function without a computer and proprietary bloated software that comes bundled with other software you do not want? The Nexus Prime is and can do so much more than the walled sandbox known as iPhone.

        • Woz

Look at iOS5. It has all of those features you listed. Bloated software? Haha enjoy your City ID and Verizon apps.

          • CoCo

Andorid had all those features in 2009…Where the hell have you been? And Apple is suing others for CR infringement?

          • Anonymous

To bad nexus has no bloatware. Nice try though. Plus nexus has lte.

          • Str8RippinEm

I want to take a running start and punch you in the face…then break your iPhone. You people are the worst. I’ve thought about buying an iPhone but then I came out of my drunken coma, punched my friends in the face who won’t stop talkin about how good they “think it is” and got the OG. then made them feel stupid about buying they’re POS.

Could you please wax intellectual on iOS’s next scheduled update?  Or maybe iOS’s overzealous auto-correct and power sapping bugs?

        • Woz

Enjoy Ice Cream sandwich while it lasts because this will be the only major software update you will be receiving.

          • Anonymous

Probably the only major one he’ll need

          • Anonymous

If you’re going to make that argument, why don’t you take a look at iOS as a whole – it looks exactly the same as it did 4 years ago.  Sure, major changes to the guts; but overall, it’s never been rebuilt form the ground up like ICS has been.

      • Anonymous

I really don’t want to feed a troll who came all this way to a fan community to shout that he doesn’t like something, but I seriously want you to answer my questions.

        1. What lack of basic features are you talking about? Seriously. Seriously?

        2. Non-integrated software system. The whole point of Android 4.x is to put a rest to that. I guess you would’ve been right a year ago. (Also includes bugs, we don’t even know if any exist yet.)

        3. Non-concrete update schedules. This is the Nexus. This is the one that gets timely updates. Please tell me when iOS 5.3 comes out. If that’s what you man by concrete.

I don’t even want to judge you, or call you a troll, or anything. But I want you to actually explain the points you brought up, as they are actually completely irrelevant.

Verizon has a lot to learn when it comes to releasing a phone. Just sayin

    • Anonymous

I don’t know, they did a pretty good job with the Razr, had PR event, teaser trailers, presale and even set up demos in stores to play with it before it’s actually available…not sure how much more you want than that.

      • Anonymous

That’s awesome, we also want that to happen for the phone we actually want to buy.

        • Anonymous

Verizon stands to make more money off the Razr because it appeals more to the general public and fits into their “Droid” marketing campaign. Only a small percentage people want the Nex. There are even tech people like me that would prefer a different phone.

        • Anonymous

Yep, you took the words right out of my mouth…

      • Anonymous

Everything you posted is what should be expected on a high end device (you have been labeled Captain obvious a time or two). Give us something outside the box for once.. A scavenger hunt is outside the box, but only tech site geeks like us even know about them.. That only gets us more excited about the phones we want. The Gnex was announced by the manufacture a few weeks ago and not only do we not have a price but the sale date is a mystery as well and Samsung just laid that right on the lap of Verizon. Its easy to assume $299/$699 but we don’t know.. Its also easy to surmise before December but again we don’t know. So IMO they have a lot to learn when it comes to releasing a phone. Just sayin…

        • Anonymous

I don’t give a crap what people label me, it only makes me laugh really, I live my life and enjoy it and share what I can. I know what to expect when posting something on the internet. Anyone with a keyboard get’s an opinion and they are entitled to it, doesn’t change facts or sway me.

As for the Nexus, it’s been said time and time again….a very small percentage of customers care about it, sometimes the truth hurts. Quite honestly it was pathetic Google and Samsung chose Hong Kong to announce it. That right there tells you their expectations. It’s a dev device only, pretty much. People here have a hard time accepting the big picture, and it will always puzzle me why everyone is so blinder-ed. Some of you should spend an hour quietly observing a Verizon store. You may learn a lot. Just because they don’t give you daily updates to soothe your impatience doesn’t make them bad or not know what they are doing because of your expectations of potential. They announced they would have it, gave you an email sign up and told you it would release this year. If they didn’t give you a specific date or price to quell your arrogance or impatience, quite frankly too damn bad. It’s a phone, not a medication for a terminal illness. It’s good to be excited, but to act like your entitled to know NOW, or telling them they don’t know how to run the largest wireless company in the country is kind of immature and ridiculous. If they gave you a date and then missed it, you’d be the first one bitching and moaning about why they missed it and how much they suck, so instead of PR damage control they wait till they are sure. So far, from the feedback, I can’t even guarantee you the phone will ever make it to a Verizon store, as everything internally is still labeled web only an the date has moved 3 times.

            WHAT news?

Hey I got a similar tip: it’s November

          • Anonymous

Why are you crying over the internet lol?

          • Dominick DeVito

            WRONG.

When (or If) this phone is released and it’s as bad ass as we think (hope) it will be, then other smartphone buyers will take note and want it. The best marketing these smartphones have going for them is other users.

I’m not sure you even believe some of the things you say. Do you honestly believe that Google and Samsung expectations for this phone are low and you come to that conclusion because of the location of the announcement? That’s a leap. Then your comment,”Its a dev device only, pretty much”. You make a statement as if it is a fact then contradict it in the same sentence. That would be like saying; I always tell the truth, most of the time. I never said Verizon was bad, or that they didn’t know what they were doing. Read what I posted again.. your assuming to much. But lets be honest here the Samsung VP even appeared uneasy about not knowing the price and release date or since he propably knows his uneasyness was that he couldn’t say cuz Verizon would be mad? A few more things. I’m not arrogant or impatient, my opinion isn’t immature or rediculous its simply my opinion and I still feel that way dispite your week attempt to quell it. Just sayin

This is the same thing these people did with the bionic, they hyped the phone and then blame verizon and moto for not releasing it on time. You always have your facts straight in here do not pay attention to what other people say, they will cry regardless.

Verizon does not care about the nexus. It is all about the razor and the rezound for them.

          • p-nut

I think that’s true. They only are getting it for the customers that waited for the gs2 only to be dissappointed. Then put a carrot on a string so they don’t jump ship to another carrier.

          • Anonymous

Yes, it may be nice but I has been playing with my razor and is awesome. Which one are you getting?

      • Anonymous

You have a good point. These sheep in here are always complaining about everything.

One would hope if they passed on a SG2 phone they could have loaded with bloat for a Nexus they plan on trying to sell as many as possible.  They have to balance that with pissing off their other partners.

the 21st would be perfect. and web only is fine with me as long as i can order it.

Seriously, it would be great to have the Nexus to play around with for that long weekend after Thanksgiving.

      • Anonymous

        agreed.

    • John

      prefer 17th.

    • JD

Prefer web only starting tomorrow afternoon. Shipping next day air.

It can launch in store black friday if that helps their marketing people’s mojo somehow.

Actually, perfect would have been before my trip last weekend.  Oh well, I’ll take the 21st though.
