Samsung Galaxy Nexus Details Leak: Fully Stock Experience and a Verizon Exclusive

The folks over at BGR have received what they believe to be the official spec list and name for the next Nexus device, thanks to a trusted source.  And what name has been decided on?  Galaxy Nexus of course.  The same name we have been using for weeks now thanks to a couple of our trusted sources.

They are also reporting that the G-Nex will be a Verizon exclusive and a completely stock Ice Cream Sandwich device, something we haven’t seen in years. No bloatware or skins here, folks.

The spec list is after the break.  I’ll just say that this matches up perfectly to what I have been told and believe it to be legit (aside from the processor, front camera and battery).  Thank Buddha, someone else finally reported on it so that we can start talking about it more openly. 🙂

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 9mm thin
  • 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
  • TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 32GB of built-in storage
  • 5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
  • 1080p HD video capture support
  • LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
  • NFC
  • 1,750 mAh battery

So, the only thing I was not told about was which specific processor was included.  Knew it was an OMAP at 1.2GHz, but with rumors of delays on the 4460, we were assuming they had just overclocked the 4430 to 1.2GHz – hoping they figured it all out and went big.  Also can’t confirm the battery, if the internal is 32GB or if the front camera is only 1.3MP.

Is this your dream device?

Oh boy, can’t wait until next Tuesday. I hope they announce the exact release date at the event. Sure looks like this wait will have been totally worth it!

  • typo

WE NEED A RELEASE DATE…Finally a worthy OG replacement…My OG is on life-support…

  • Riley Munks

once again google has made a mediocre nexus device. 1.2 dual core, not even exynos. and 5 mega pixel camera, the nexus one that came out 2 years ago had a five megapixel camera, come on google. the galaxy s 2 is better this device in almost every aspect.

    • riiiiiiiiight.

    • Juan Moreno

Yea I also get this feeling….Don’t care too much about the 5MP camera, but I do care about the SoC. That 1.2Ghz is…..weak. 4460 is not pushing any limits here, but then it’s not meant to. I look forward to future.

  • Andrew Weckstein

Will there be a SD slot?

  • Interstellarmind

    gotta say… i am disappointed. 5mp camera?? (possible) 4430?

if chip is 4460 (and clocked at 1.5) and camera hits 8mp… i’m on board.. .but until then…

i’m back on the vigor train.

not worried abotu stock – because i can always root and rom.

  • viewthis66

    Hello G-Nex! Goodbye T-bolt!

  • Prankm

I will jump on this bandwagon so damn fast.  I’ve just about thrown my Droid X out the goddamn window after the last Motorola update pretty much bricked it.

  • Xhaxol

    sd card slot?

  • What’s your best guess on the price? $299?

  • Joshua Fechner

So, how do I sell my Bionic and get this for 2-year contract pricing?

  • Sputnick

This is it!!  This is the one to replace my OG Droid.  From one pimp phone to another is how we roll people.

  • Anonymous

    No SD card slot?

  • Anonymous

Doesn’t make sense.  It is stated to be a Verizon exclusive, yet lists LTE/HSPA (depending on carrier).  Exclusive means only on this network…..so……  Sorry, don’t believe it.  Why would they assign 2 different part numbers to this phone for Verizon and other networks if it is the same phone?  Then call it exclusive.  More rumor mills then you can shake a stick at.  This is beginning to sound like the reports on the newly released i*hone 5….oh wait, that was a fabrication of the blogs itself.  It would be awesome if this happened but no one really knows what is going on here and we won’t know until next week.

  • Fd2blk78

Ive been waiting for this forever…I’m soooo waiting for this, wait, it only has…what? But I’ve been waiting for soo long. For a year, I’m so pissed. This phone sucks! I’m holding out for the Droid razr!

  • Jrod196

I’ve got to admit, the specs so great except for the screen size. In my opinion, 4.65 is just too big for a phone! I’m not really sure why they would want to go that large on a phone screen size. I’m sure the S AMOLED +HD will look gorgeous on the size, but damn, thats a rather large footprint in the pocket. I am REALLY hoping ICS makes me forget about the size. I can’t wait for next Tuesday!

    • Kris Brandt

4.65″ doesn’t mean the phone is getting proportionally bigger.

    • CephalicCarnage

Perhaps they’ve increased the screen size a bit by pushing it closer to the edges of the device, and remember, there should be no soft keys for navigation, it will be all on screen.

  • Jamdev12

I don’t know how this phone is ahead of the curve. Can someone fill in and tell me why the screen and ICS will be the only things this phone will be ahead of the curve compare to the new iPadMini4s? I’m no Apple fan, but to be ahead of the curve means replacing these specs.

    Camera: 5MP to 8MP
    Front Camera: 1.3MP to 2.0MP
Both are in the GSII so is bull that Samsung can fit it.

CPU: OMAP 4460 to 4470. The latter has the latest PowerVR chip which would compete with the iPadMini4s and give this beast a performance boost at this higher Res.

Everything else is right on. I hope Samsung changes these. I would pay up to $350 for a device with the specs above and mine to make it better. Of course as many have also stated making it a universal phone would be awesome. I would have gone with a Marvell all in one comm. chip to offload all of that work, but that chip was announced a month and a half ago. Too soon for it to appear on any phone and probably making the phone a $400 device which is too steep for many people to buy in these economic times.

  • really only a 5mp camera? everything else has an 8 and this seems to be a step backward. On top of that on another tech site I read they have mad a 16mp sensor small enough for cell phone usage and will begin shipping as early as November and this is stuck with a 5mp. Not really a detractor for me since my Samsung Omnia has a 5mp and it takes great shots. Still really surprising! All of you in the know, please educate me, is this 1.2 processor actually better than the 1.5 in the Galaxy SII?

  • Anonymous

hopefully the screen is corner to corner, otherwise this thing is going to be way too big.  It’s bordering on tablet size, and I already have a tablet.  4.0″ or 4.3″ would have been better.  Otherwise, color me impressed.

  • Toxic Androidx

Other than the camera, it sounds legit!

  • shdowman

    On that note….

1 week old Incredible 2 for sale.

  • Tmax224

damn so now what do i do with my huge extended battery bionic… :'(

  • Also any word on if it does Voice and Data on 3g?  Say what you will about the thunderbolts problems but there are some things it has on other 4g phones.

  • DanSke

Can’t wait. I will be upgrading from a ThunderBolt. Its nice to see that a a higher mAh battery is finally be used. Sweet.

Specs look good and if the sensitivity on the camera sensor is good, 5 MP will not be bad at all. A 4.65″ screen seems big, hopefully the physical form factor will not be that much larger than the 4.3″ devices.

  • Slimgym20

I’m going to be very disappointed if the other carriers don’t pick this phone up shortly after Verizon. It would be pretty lame of Google to bail out on everyone that has been working so hard on their current nexus line up.

  • Anonymous

haven’t we all agreed that the OG Droid was the original Nexus? If so, then this device will be the perfect replacement. 🙂

  • This looks fantastic, BUT…. isn’t anybody else worried about all this horsepower and gadgetry powered by a not-really-all-that-impressive 1750 mAh battery??

    • LionStone

  • Dwjr82

Even when I buy one. I will still refer to it as the nexus prime.

  • Jeff Jackson

5 MP is more than enough… the lens is astronomically more important.  I’m looking forward so much to upgrading to this from my OG Droid.

    • Anonymous

The lens and the sensors are more Important than the mp.

  • Anonymous

It’s a little too big for my comfort, but it’s so sexy I have to have it.

    *that’s what she said

  • Anonymous

but the question is, will it include an sd card slot?

    • Anonymous

32GB of internal works for me.

  • Anonymous

I’m sorry, but the only thing I DON’T like is the size.  I have a DroidX now, and I really didn’t want anything bigger at 4.3 inches.  The fact that its pure Vanilla Android is awesome though!

  • Joshua Dudash

Only question now is… whats the price going to be?
Please dont make it more than  $300!!!

  • Anonymous

So reading the specs I’m hoping they mean:
    1) The camera is point and shoot quality, making the 5MP more than enough and much better than any other Android phone
    2) The processor was chosen as the faster possible (and battery would be respectable)
    3) Overall size will be fine.  Not any bigger than a 4.3 phone and thinner/lighter
    4) Battery is only 130 mAh less than my DX extended battery, so thinking that will be enough if it is as efficient (or more) than my phone

Can’t wait for confirmaiton on the Vigor specs (unless I missed it) and much, much more importantly hands-on for each.

    • I use to have the LG Dare (feature phone) and it took better pictures then the cameras that came out later with high MPs

  • There are some things to really like like the fact that this phone is ICS stock, thats its super thin, the screen, NFC, LTE and hopefully more efficient in energy use.

My only concerns are that its 1.2 ghz vs all the 1.5s coming out, 4430 and not 4460,

Can someone explain why the curved screen is better or good?

    • shdowman

      Curved Screen….because they can.

  • Anonymous

I am seriously praying I can have this thing in time for my trip on 11/4.

  • amy

    i want, i want

  • Mike Shannon

Please release this the SAME day as the iphone 4S so we can see for real what the real world wants …

  • Joshua Dudash

Loving this! just cause its a 5mp shooter doesnt mean its crap. Quality over megapixels.
Still… it is a little weird to have a 5mp this late in the game. Otherwise, loving the specs.. if this does turn out to be a true 4460 i want 1.5ghz standard then oc to 2.3 😛

  • cdizl

I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed……………but can you be just whelmed? if so that’s how I feel about this “killer” device

  • Rikstr12

Will there be a SD card slot?

  • What is the deal with the curved screen? That’s the only thing I’m a little weird about…

    • Anonymous

drop and no scratch on screen. barely noticable in hands

  • Anonymous

I don’t care that I’m not up for an upgrade – I’m buying this phone (that is, if I don’t win it in the Droid Life Eliminator, LOL).

  • Anonymous

Will this have a micro sdcard slot.

  • shdowman

    Verizon’s first $399 phone…

And BGR are a bunch of morons. I don’t trust them at all.

    • Anonymous

      Agreed. $400 is ridiculous

    • Anonymous

I can’t see them making it $399.  Any phone would fail hard at that price point.  Most people have trouble accepting $299.

  • Icecoldandroid

I would like to know about HDMI out I love mirroring and really missed it on my nexus s my bionic is awesome at it though and now its Razr or Prime??!!

  • Ams1650

Any word on price for two year???

  • Anonymous

Two things.  Do we assume it will have a microSD slot?  Some rumors in the past have stated that it won’t.

Lastly, I REALLY just want to know the physical dimensions of this thing so I can cut out a piece of paper to see the size.
