But if all Wireless ISP's have identical policies, your choice is sign the contract or don't have wireless service.

It's collusion, it's extortion, it's greed.

Like the poster said your being charged 2X, you can only use the data on 1 device at a time.
Do they charge a tethering fee if you use the razr or bionic with a lapdock?

Folks, concern yourselves with other things like making a living, feeding and sheltering the homeless, and the future of our Earth and natural resources. Tethering.........please.

As an aside, Verizon is a very good network. I never have had to wait for a Customer Service Rep., never had a billing error, always treated with respect, etc. Regarding the tether thing, be responsible with your usage of tether and Verizon most likely will not bother you about it. Sure, if you are constantly downloading HD media and racking up 10+ Gigs of data a month, you deserve to be let go by the carrier. That is stealing. Use your home WiFi for that. Use the tether sparingly, only when you need it. I would bet the ranch that you would not hear a word from the carrier.

Grow up. Conduct yourself as an adult should.

The reality is that there is a monopoly of service with no alternatives... Data must flow, and data must not be limited... it is a form of oppression. I cant afford the expensive tether, but it is an unfair advantage to those who can afford it. I don't mind paying for internet, but nobody should be able to force out all competition and then limit service to only the power elite within the society... It is pure tyranny!

Really buddy? AT&T is worse than Verizon with a lesser network. T-Mobile's network is decent as long as you're in the city, otherwise it blows and their customer service stinks. Sprint's network is the worst of them all with half a megabit 3G download speeds and they don't have wimax at all in my city (which isn't that great anyways). The scattered regional carriers are jokes with bare minimum coverage, data that makes Sprint look good by comparison and a piss poor selection of mostly low end dumb phones with an occasional mid range android option.

The difference is that you AGREED to the terms of your contract. You don't have much of a say in the laws that you have to follow though. Sure you get to vote, but if you're in the minority, you're out of luck. ...but the contract you signed was between you & Verizon -- nobody else. Totally your choice.

Who would NOT agree to it and have a phone sitting there that they just paid 250+ for. No one would! How can they make a phone, sell it for however much and think that there little ( *subject to change at anytime, or whatever it says) means they can change there mind whenever they want and if we dont agree then our phones are now useless. THATS BS! If thats the case there should also be a clause in that contract saying....If we (the customer) at anytime dont agree to your "new" terms of conditions making our phone useless BEACAUSE we dont agree to your new terms then we also get our moneyback that we paid for our now useless phone! Like if you agree...
