For me it would be enough if the Droid Prime was just a GED device. I’d prefer a Nexus device, but I would keep Verizon as the carrier since they are so sweet on the call quality. But if its all gonna have bloatware I’m going to attempt to switch carriers and go after that Nexus-first-to-be-updated goodness. Even the OG Droid was a GED and sometimes it would be 2-3 months behind the Nexus One in terms of updates.

This is why carriers need to stop trying to be more than stupid information tubes. Whenever they try to branch out into providing other services they immediately start to muscle out any type of competition. If their method of mobile payment is so great… fine let the market decide that, but don’t use your power cut the legs off your competition. It’s a wonder they ever let Google maps make it onto their network.

It’s not that it would ‘kill’ it, its if it ships without it or disabled, can’t call it a true Nexus….

This is an ongoing thing, the new Bold 9930 ships without NFC software, and AT&T also said they intend on disabling it at launch. Carriers suck.

If they kill the Nexus just to protect their mobile payment plans by squashing Google Wallet they need to be investigated by the DOJ. Seriously, to they plan on not allowing any phones on their network with a NFC chip? Grow up Verizon it’s called the future and we’ll all be living in it soon.
