he means that it does not stay on. i and many others have this issue. u live in a rural area and it turns off every 5-10 minutes

While there maybe *some* with “retarded apps” on their phone, there is definitely a problem with certain D3s excessively consuming battery. I got two on bogo and my wife’s D3 which is literally completely stock gets as sucky of battery life as mine that pulled down all my apps I had with the D1. Many report that when they actually got VZW to replace the phone that battery life was night and day. I have the extended battery and unless I “double charge” it, it won’t make it 8 hours with virtually NO usage. If I throw it on the charger again for 30 minutes after taking it off in the morning, battery life is at least 2x. There are problems and I sure am hoping this update has a fix for it and the laundry list that users have compiled on the Moto forums.

um…i bought my droid 3 as soon as it arrived in stores and my phone says my system version is “5.5.959.XT862.verizon.en.US,” same as the filename of the download above. seems sketchy. Yes, I am one of those people who get terrible battery life on my d3. barely lasts 8 hours without doing much on it. Hope an official OTA comes through soon

Not at all. HTC includes smaller batteries and life is significantly less than pretty much any other manufacturer.

My Droid 3 came loaded with 5.5.959 when Verizon shipped it to me 3 weeks ago…..I understood that this was the final release version for the Droid 3.

My battery life after rooting and removing the bloat went through the roof. I was doing 12-16 hours on a typical day before root and bloat removal. Now I’m getting 24-28 hours with all the bloat gone. It’s crazy how much battery the bloatware was sucking up. I wonder if VZW realizes that they are killing the battery life of their phones with all this bloat.

You really should try it in your area before you decide. If I stay in the small town I live in all day the battery lasts with no issue. Driving around from suburb to suburb is when I have issues with my D3.
