DROID Bionic Hits Verizon MAP at $299 Starting September 8 (Updated)

The DROID Bionic just hit Verizon’s MAP (minimum advertised price) list and is looking poised for a $299 on 2-year contract price along with a second confirmation that September 8 should be the day that it finally lands in stores.  We’re not surprised at all by this number after seeing the Charge launch with just a single-core processor at the same price point, but are still wondering if anything over $249 is too high?  It should still sell like hot cakes even at that number as one of the most anticipated devices in quite some time.

Update: We just got word that the full retail will likely be $589.99.  Definitely not $587.00 as was rumored somewhere yesterday.  Unless of course Verizon planned on changing the $XX9.99 pricing scheme that they have followed for their entire existence just for this phone.

Let us know your thoughts!

Cheers BJK!

Amazon has the Droid Charge for $49. I doubt this will be that expensive. $199 max

  • Chris Pike

My $50 Tbolt with CM7 seems like a better deal.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_V7JLAS5ZNNJEAWEBFHJYOJDQLA Kris Sampson

I just paíd $22.85 for an íPad 2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.78 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $625 which only cost me $62.81 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, Centb.côm

Motorola should rename this phone and change the marketing slogan…

DROID DELAYED – CONTROL IT AND YOU WILL BE DELAYED FOR EVERYTHING

  • Anonymous

If im gonna pay 300$ ill wait for a gs2, its thinner and a better phone

    • DBK

250 with upgrade (200 with NE2 if you have one).

The GS2 won’t be on Verizon anytime soon and may even not be 4G when it finally does. Have fun waiting.

      • Anonymous

I cant upgrade til nov anyways if the gs2 isent out by the the DROID HD should be

        • DBK

Fair enough, although I still wouldn’t hold my breath for the GS2.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000080343537 Dylan Hageman

I’m going to buy this phone 14 days before the SG2 comes out and if Samsung steps up and has a price of 250 or lower I’m going to return my phone within the 14 day return window and get the SG2

    • DBK

You realize that the SGS2 coming out that soon after the Bionic on Verizon is highly unlikely, right?

    • Sdk_1052

Plus you will have to pay the Verizon $35 restocking fee!

  • Anonymous

300$ for 4.3 inch pentile display isent very attractive, if the gs2 comes out with 4g, dual core, and thinner for 300$ it will most likely out sell the bionic

    • DBK

250 with upgrade discount, 200 with the NE2 (if you still have it).

      • http://twitter.com/Justinwrites Justin True Anderson

Do you get a commission every time you say that?  ROFL

  • George

I’m definitely not going to make a day 1 purchase.  I want to see what Samsung is going to come up with in regards to the US Galaxy S2 release.  The Bionic would need to completely blow my mind to pay that much right now.  I’m guessing that the software is going to be very similar to the Droid 3 which was not that impressive.  The HTC Vigor also catches my eye with rumored specs.  I have a day 1 Droid Incredible (with the AMOLED screen before the downgraded).  I’m definitely ready to upgrade.  I’ve been waiting for the right phone for a long time so another month or two at this point doesn’t matter.

    • DBK

The software will be more advanced then the D3 (as will the hardware).

      • James_Ever

The D3 is a great phone regardless. And advanced as it may be you’ll have to see about battery life first, just saying… I hope its a great device for those that have been waiting so long for it.

  • Poopymagoo

Lol I’m not paying 300 bucks for this. Somehow I think a lot of other people will jump ship too. That’s just a huge middle finger to verizon customers “thanks for waiting like chumps with your thumbs up your ass for 9 months, NOW you can give us all your cash.” That’s just pushing our faces in shit. Nexus prime here I come!

    • DBK

250 with upgrade, 200 with NE2 (if you still have one).

  • http://www.facebook.com/dieselxdan Danny Nguyen

did you see the DOW today? Hell with this market.. I rather invest in a bike to save on gas..not minding a damn over rated phone.

    • DBK

lol You think the the Bionic, the most advanced phone available (once it releases), is overrated? Smh…..

  • http://profiles.google.com/statsprofessor Jakub Palka

I heard it will be $249 most likely, this is just the MAP.

    • gregba

maybe outside of VZW, MAP= minimum advertised price.  That’s why places like costco mobile say things like “click here to see special pricing”.  they cant advertise it less than the MAP

    • DBK

      249 with upgrade discount.

  • Anonymous

Well you can bet that you can pre order it on 9/1 then.

  • Don

The SGS2 will be the phone to get. After 4 months of waiting I will wait another month if needed to get a sleek light phone.  The Bionic is too big, too heavy and too near being behind technology to be bought.  Even the horror of keeping my I*hone for another month is worth passing up the Bionic.

    • DBK

You’ll be waiting a looong time for the SGS2 to release on Verizon. The Bionic will be the most advanced phone available. The other phones coming after it are either the same or slightly inferior. The Bionic won’t be behind till at least beginning of next year.

      • Tim242

Pentile display is far from most advanced. The Thunderbolt’s screen beats pentile.

  • Anonymous

Wow seriously.. $300 and tax not included.. well if im gonna pay that much for that phone i might as well see how far the droid hd is.. its bad enough my bill is about 100.00 so.. 12 x 24.. well you know the rest.. getting these superphones is like a investment now.. whats next.. financing available.

    • DBK

249 with upgrade discount (and 200 with NE2 if you have one left).

  • Brian Fernald

That really sucks… I was hoping for at least the 249 mark and use my last new every two discount to bring it down to sub 200. Guess I might have to wait a little longer then.

    • DBK

You are forgetting the upgrade discount. That “should” get you to 200 (I would check though).

  • Toltair

The Vigor, Prime, and SGII (if it’s 4glte) will all be as expensive.

  • http://www.agrstech.com Zephaniah

Ok, what is with Verizon and these ridiculous prices. 4G is not worth $100 extra to me.

  • http://twitter.com/QSMinSD Q

Everyone crying about 300 on-contract and 600 off contrract apparently havnt been following how much new phones cost.. especially LTE phones.  My Thunderbolt was 250 on contract and the Droid Charge was 300.  When I got my Droid X off contract, it was 600.

These prices are completely unsuprising and par for the course for a new 4G LTE phone.  Im a little dissapointed that Ill have to come out of pocket for more than I planned because Verizon has dropped the trade in price of the Thunderbolt to $150 .. I was hoping they would have kept it at 200..

    • Poopymagoo

Lmao look at the thunderbolt now dumbass either $50 or free with 2 yr contract so don’t preach about how this is normal.

      • Poopymagoo

P.s. you bought a thunderbolt. That instantly makes you a dumbass. Seriosuly though? Go look at the tbolt on amazon and compare prices.

      • DBK

Lol you’re the dumbass, The Thunderbolt sold for 250 when released and it is inferior to the Bionic so it is foolish to think that the Bionic would be cheaper at it’s release.

        • Tim242

Thunderbolt inferior to the delayed bionic? Pentile sucks. Cheap plastic sucks. Thunderbolt processor outperforms dual core.

    • Guest

i know what you mean but i talked with one of the verizon representative and they told me once they are out of the box it is consider an old device i might get 125 for my droidx2, which is better than nothing :) for the cry babies my droid was 600 off contract same as bionic what are you crying about.

  • droidlvr

I just cant wait for the bionic.

  • Droid1118

It just cannot come fast enough.

  • Booboolala2000

Enjoy those that get this phone. I only have one ne2 upgrade left. Well wait til christmas time our my birthday in november and see what us available at that time. Not holding my breath for a nexus. Although I would pay $$350 on cotract to have an lte nexus on vzw.

  • Anonymous

if you wait until your NE2 date you will get $50 off….  you can early upgrade w/ new 2 year contract price.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_E6UNKOLSRDXXGIP77NMPHSALO4 Jaciel
  • Jasper

“Update: We just got word that the full retail will likely be $589.99.  Definitely not $587.00 as was rumored somewhere yesterday.”
Whew… Thank gawd you pointed that out and cleared that up, I was really considering buying it at $587, but $589.99 is waaay  too much!

  • Anonymous

i blame motobloat. after the orig droid, their phones didn’t seem to have the performance boost i expected, despite having better hardware. playing w/d3, charge, and inc2 side-by-side, i was still hard-pressed to notice a significant difference in the d3′s performance.

    • DBK

To be honest, I felt that the D3 performed better than the other 2 (played with them side by side as well, although the Charge came in at a close second). Which is why I got the D3.

  • faber

No way. Locked up and overpriced junk.

    • DBK

Same price as original Droid line, and it’s far more advanced than them. Definitely not over priced. Plus it’s more like 250 after the upgrade discount.

  • Kfath1978

Yet another flaw w/ this phone….  That price is way to high!  You can get a new Chromebook at that price.  I still will prob get it….  Torn…

  • Anonymous

The no contract price is fine but $299 on a 2 year contract!   Not when Samsung (insert their superphone here) and HTC Vigor is about to unleash.  I see a price drop in less than 2 months after release and that would piss me off if I buy on day 1.  I’m waiting until all the cards are on the table.

    • DBK

250 after upgrade. And the Vigor will probably be priced the same. And the Samsung phone they will announce will probably not be on Verizon.

      • Tim242

        Shut up.

  • Hiphopapotamus

Might as well drop a few hundred more if you want this phone and not lose your upgrade……just saying.

  • http://profiles.google.com/kselby7 Kyle Selby

Way too much! That comes out to like $360 after tax in California! Every new development about this phone is driving me further and further away from it.

    • DBK

250 with upgrade price (275-80 after tax)

      • droidlvr

what if some of us have the new any 2 deal?

        • DBK

If you still have a NE2 available (lucky), then you are looking at 200 (after upgrade discount) plus tax give or take.

        • Anonymous

you only get $50.00 off the phone….i have already talked to verizon about my new every 2 which is in december..so i will get the new contract early upgrade price…

          • DBK

50 from the NE2 (give or take) and 50 from the upgrade discount. That adds up.

      • http://davesdroid.blogspot.com NadTwist

Remember, they charge tax on the full retail price, so in California it will be about $45 in tax (I think… what the hell is our tax rate now?)  :P

        • DBK

Oh yeah. Then you are still going to pay around 300 (that sucks).  :/

          • http://davesdroid.blogspot.com NadTwist

I’m hoping that my 15% discount applies (that would negate the tax), plus the upgrade discount, all told will get me to a reasonable out the door price.

DBK, I’m getting exhausted for you… watching you post the same sensible answers to people’s questions and concerns.  I wish folks would read before commenting. You’re a trooper!  ;)

          • DBK

Just trying to keep the facts straight. People need to really do research before determining which phone will be better. If you don’t want it, fine, but to justify that decision with false claims or personal opinions that you try to push as fact is a no no.  :)

          • http://davesdroid.blogspot.com NadTwist

I totally agree with you.  And, I hate that every Bionic article has become a gripe-fest…  I don’t really care what other phones are out in the ether, the Bionic is about to land and I’ve waited for it, and I’ve researched it,  and I want it.  ;)

          • http://davesdroid.blogspot.com NadTwist

Also, it sucks that the reality is that ANY phone that is released in these times will be outdated shortly and replaced by something else.  We all dislike that… but it is… reality.  No sense in crying about it. :P

          • DBK

In reality, the Bionic wont’ be outdated till early next year (the phones coming afterwords this year are real improvements over the DB (some are actually a step backward)). But yeah that is pretty much the case now a days.

          • http://davesdroid.blogspot.com NadTwist

True… and coming from a DX with single core, 3G, no front camera (which I have been VERY happy with, and still am today), the Bionic is going to be a beast of an upgrade!  I will no doubt be happy with it for at least a year like I have with the DX.  :)

          • Guest

I loved my droid X i felt it was the best droid device till i got my droidx2, which it is very similar but the dual core and the task manager if u know how to use it it makes a big difference comparing the two phone. I could imagine droidx2 with front facing camara 1 g of ram and lte :)

          • http://davesdroid.blogspot.com NadTwist

I was really bummed that the X2 didn’t have 4G LTE when it was released… I would have bought one without a doubt.  I love the form factor of the DX and would have been able to reuse all of my accessories (docks, etc).  I just hope the Bionic is similar in size to the DX… the pictures I’ve seen make it look kind of fat.  :P

          • DBK

So have I. That’s why this will be my phone when my upgrade comes up (have a NE2 available as well -my last one). I have a D3 but bought it full price (saved up for it, so no upgrade used), so I can do that.  :)

          • http://davesdroid.blogspot.com NadTwist

Nice.  I added another line to get an early upgrade to the DX from my OG Droid August of 2010, so my main line is now ready for upgrade with the unused NE2.  Now I just need to get this additional line to go away.  heheh

          • DBK

Lol I yes it does.  :P

          • Guest

i never had og droid but i heard so many hypes about that phone low specs 250 of ram 550 of ghz people need to come into reality and keep in mind that a lot of people do not care about rooting :) Bring me the best phone out of the box and i can say that phone its a beast Welcome Droid Bionic :)

          • Guest

i do agree with both of you many people hate the bionic and when there is a post about it 250 and 300 comments pop up lol. The bionic will be the best android phone for a long time including droid hd nevertheless the bionic will be the first with lte

      • http://profiles.google.com/kselby7 Kyle Selby

        How is it 250?

      • http://profiles.google.com/kselby7 Kyle Selby

Ignore my other post below. It is still too high and no need to be so critical when you didn’t even do the math correctly. $300 is too much to charge for every new phone Verizon comes out with just because it is LTE.

        • DBK

How did I not do the math correctly? 299 with 2 yr contract – 50 for upgrade discount = 249.

People said the same when the orginal Droid line came out at that price. Your saying we should pay less than the original Droid line for a far more advanced phone? That makes no sense.

          • Guest

like i been saying all along the og droid was just a revolutionary phone other than that the specs cant match any of the droid line up phone and i am including droid incredible as well

  • Anonymous

I’m torn. Risk waiting for the Nexus Prime that may never come to verizon? or finally replace my dying droid with the Bionic?

    • droidlvr

my droid is dying to. what do we do?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=789014095 Ron Kurkowski

589.99 retail? Hmm.. Will have to see some benchmarks first. I’m not going 2 years ever again

  • http://www.facebook.com/kveltre1 Kenny Veltre

I’m getting this day 1 if my dad will buy it for me!

    • http://twitter.com/chqueed charles rogers

I’m getting this day 1 if ANYONE will buy it for me. ^_^

  • http://twitter.com/MastaMarc Marc C.

ya im not paying $300 for a cell phone…  i’ll be getting iphone 4 for 199 or incredible or something… but that’s insane…

    • DBK

250 with upgrade. You are willing to get an inferior phone for a little less? Yeah that makes sense.

      • http://twitter.com/MastaMarc Marc C.

a little less? in this day and age i’m saving every bit i can…  that’s a car payment.  a mini vacation.  half a rent check.  lol     thats too much to spend on something that will be replaced in a year

        • DBK

Understandable. But all phones coming out the rest of this year will be replaced by next summer, latest (and not by a lot).

      • AboutTime

Where the hell are you getting your information from man. Its not 250 with upgrade. I called Verizon and told if I had a discount to upgrade and they said yes which is only 30.00 not 50.00 off.

        • DBK

You don’t have to be a douche. Some still have 50, genius. I was generalizing. And if some still have an NE2 left, that’s another 50.

          Think before you speak.

  • Blattrell

It ALWAYS takes 3 times longer then you think for a phone to be released. So, good luck waiting for the next super-phone. I have waited long enough, I am a buyer!

    • Anonymous

I think December is the time frame. If you aren’t comfortable waiting till then, then you should get the Bionic. I would at least plan to hear what Samsung announces at their upcoming GS2 presser.

  • Powpowgirly

I just talked with a Verizon call center manager and was able to pre-order the Bionic!   Seems since I have not upgraded in 28 months, and threatened to go to AT & T for their i phone.  I should receive an email with my delivery date.

    • http://twitter.com/chqueed charles rogers

      Cool story, bro.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=789014095 Ron Kurkowski

      Proof or it didn’t happen

    • future phone.

      Really now?

    • future phone.

I just called Verizon and they don’t even know what it is and its not vent in thier system..

      • http://profiles.google.com/kselby7 Kyle Selby

The employees never know anything. Unless of course they read the rumors on here.

    • Anonymous

Did they let you choose between that and the Google iPhone running Windows Phone?

  • Anonymous

$299 for the Bionic + $350 ETF = $650 total, but full retail is only $590.  If they are going to charge $300 for phones, they need to lower the ETF to reflect this new reality.  Even though the Bionic will probably be 32GB, it will be at a competitive disadvantage being $100 more for the cheapest Bionic vs. cheapest Iphone 5 next month.  I’m currently happy with my X2 and holding out for Nexus Prime.  If it’s not on Verizon, I might have to bite the bullet and change carriers.

    • CHRIS42060

In that case Verizon will miss you.  You are about as likely to see the Nexus Prime on Verizon as you are to see Optimus Prime on your front yard lol

    • DBK

      249 with upgrade.

i*hone 5 won’t be on Verizon till end of the year, earliest. Plus, it is vastly inferior to the Bionic.

Don’t hold your breath for the Prime on Verizon.

  • StopURcryin

I’ve been waiting for this phone for a long time… I’m using “the first choice is usually the right choice” method. I’m an A+ certified technician and have the, sometimes expensive, habit of needing the latest and greatest technology. Long story short… if I don’t like it, or feel I want a new phone “just around the corner”… I’ll buy that too!

  • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

$587 sounds like a Wal-Mart price, $589 seems more mainstream pricing.  Still too expensive for what its offering.  Had it included a dock or a better screen or that so called rumored “4.5″ screen, I would say yeah, jump on it.  but we all know there are better devices coming and there not far off.  The choice is yours but look at your wallets and think “will this device be worth 2 years of use when I already know that there more up to date devices coming out with better specs”

    • DBK

The phones coming out afterwords will be the same spec-wise as the Bionic (no real improvements other than possibly being stock).

      • Anonymous

Better screen, better processor, and NOT LOCKED DOWN is enough for some people to hold out a month or two. Perfectly understandable to me.

        • DBK

It won’t have a better processor, and the screen difference is minimal at best. Locked down till end of the year anyways. Can still root and ROM, so not a big deal.

          • DroidUser00110001

Like how a D3 can be rooted? It’s funny you tell people to to wait and see but you assume the bootloader will be unlocked and you can root a Bionic.

      • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

you call Super AMOLED HD, 1.5GHZ Dual core, LTE and NFC not real improvements? Wake up, the Bionic had its chance a few months ago but its too late to the party,  even the Dinara aka DROID HD has better specs.

Your entitled to your opinion as I am with mine but I am more interested in devices without Blur and the name Motorola on them, I have had my fair share of Motorola products and each and every one of them was junk, I had a DROID Incredible for a few months after launch, then I got the DROID X when it came out, it was a huge let down for me since I very much preferred the screen on my Incredible even though it was a smaller screen.  The sound was horrible, the UI was ugly, camera quality sucked for quick pics, and the build quality was terrible, the battery door had better quality than the entire phone.  After that I got my Incredible back which I sold to my friend and he has experienced the same problems and is waiting to upgrade to the latest and greatest so the 2 years wait to upgrade again is worth it.  He was thinking about getting the Bionic but with all the leaks of upcoming devices and Samsung having there launch even on August 29th, he’s waiting to see what they bring to the table.
also, after just a little over a year, his USB port has gone faulty and doesn’t always charge the device, when he puts it into a dock to charge he wakes up in the morning to the dead battery and then when it tries to load (thanks to lovely locked bootloader) he’s stuck on the bootloader screen for the ROM he’s using.

needless to say I gave Motorola a couple chances to prove itself for my wallet, and each time they have failed, I even had an original Motorola RAZR, the build of that device was exceptional but the device itself sucked, and not to mention the network it was on.

        • DBK

Less advanced CPU, regardless. The speed means nothing (in actuality the 1.5 of teh later phones equals about the 1 on the Bionic, the no real improvement.

I’ll give you the screen, since that is personal preference, but spec wise it is not much better.

Bionic has LTE, so that’s a non issue.

I’ll give you NFC, but spec wise that is still not that much improved.

Please educate yourself on the tech behind these phones before you bash somebody over it, cause you’ll end up looking stupid every time.

          • Guest

vigor might have hd display so droid hd that is the phone that will compete with vigor it will come out on the same date

        • Anonymous

I call super AMOLED HD, Super Oversaturated, the 1.5 GHz will be interesting depending on battery life, and NFC a novelty at this point.

You can say a lot about poor software quality from Moro, they rarely get things right the first time (cases in point the Razor and the original Blur), but I have yet to see a Motorola phone with poor build quality.

Sounds to me like your issues are more with Blur and the locked bootloader. But that is fair enough, as you say you are entitled to your opinion, but just remember that so are the people that don’t think that GS2 or the Vigor are going to be “worlds better”

          • Guest

He said bad sound from moto speakers and build quality that guy most be crazy. Lets compare sensation with droid x right now and lets see who have the best sound quality. software moto was bad with first blur with the new blur they are competing with vanilla and sense and once it is all said and done moto and vaninall will join forces to make the best blur experience ever
            thank you

        • Corymcnutt

Then why are you even here?  Just to tell us how much you hate Motorola?  Take your hate and soap box somewhere else; you’ve already made up your mind.

          • Tarsis Brito

yea what is he doing here this is a bionic post not a vigor nor sg2 lol

I have to disagree.  A true HD display and 1.5ghz dual core proc’s are next gen.  Hell, if I had the Bionic for a year and the HTC Vigor came out I would upgrade.  I would even pay $50 over the Bionic to get the Vigor.

        • DBK

Like I said below, because the other phones will use a slightly less advanced CPU chip, that 1.5 equates to the Bionic’s 1.  The Bionic will have the best processor out of all the phones coming out after it (with the possible exception of the Droid HD). The display is debatable, but spec wise, it won’t be that much of an improvement over the Bionic’s.

Saying that the Bionic has the best processor out of all phones coming out after it is a fairly naive statement.  So you’re saying that mobile technology won’t advance beyond the omap processor currently in the Bionic?  So newer, omap or tegra processors will cease to exist just because the Bionic is coming out?  You sir are full of it.  Technology WILL ALWAYS advance.  There are gonna be plenty of phones coming out after the bionic within the next 6 months alone that will be more advanced have better processors.  I understand you want the Bionic, but to build it up in such a fashion just makes you full of it.

Anyone know what best buy pre-order will be?

  • John Doe

It will be 179 at costco. And i can return it in 3 months for a nexus prime

    • DBK

Once you go to AT&T. Don’t hold your breath for a Verizon release.

    • CHRIS42060

Switching carriers?  The day Verizon brings a vanilla android phone to their lineup without all of the extra VZW crap will be the day I think my heart may stop.

  • Creediddy

Guys guys!!! Who cares about the 2 year pricing if you can buy the phone for $589. If You currently have a Thunderbolt like myself and I can still get at least $250-$300 for my phone and come out pocket $300 and i won’t have my contract altered. Eventually the trend is to keep the 2 year pricing near half the phone retail price. Increases the likelihood of buying it for retail, but provides customers like us freedom.

  • Glencox

This is bull*hit when the photon (which is a better phone [international, tegra, etc]) is only $199!

    • DBK

OMAP better than Tegra. The Bionic is more advanced. The Photon is definitely not a better phone.

    • Anonymous

OMAP better than the Tegra 2, LTE is better than Wi-Max, VZW coverage better than Sprints.

      Game, set and match.

    • Guest

photon its not better thank you it is the same as the atrix but a bigger display and better camara

  • CHRIS42060

I really wish Verizon wouldn’t overcharge for their devices.  How does the Bionic cost $299.99 with a full retail price of $589.99, but you can get the Photon at Sprint for $199.99 and the full retail is $549.99?  Not that I am buying this device anymore anyway.  I will not waste my final 1 year upgrade on something that is pretty much out-dated before it is even release.  Hello Vigor…… Hello Celox…….. Heck Hello Revolution 2 if LG throws a dual core processor in it lol.

    • DBK

Bionic is more advanced than the Photon. The other phones coming out after the Bionic are not any better than the Bionic. Plus the price is around what the original Droid line up went for, so you are paying for a next gen phone at the price of a first gen. Not that bad a deal when you think about it (especially once you factor in upgrade discount).

      • Anonymous

Hmm lets see how would they be better.  A faster processor would make one better (Vigor, GSII, Celox).  720p High Def display would would also (Vigor, Revolution 2).  No Blur would certainly help as well (All of the above lol).  The Bionic has been a fiasco since day 1.  Moto would have been better off to scrap it completely and build another phone that can compete instead of rushing to release the “First Dual Core 4G LTE Phone.”  Being first doesn’t always mean you’re the best….. Motorola obviously learned nothing from the Xoom.

        • DBK

The faster speeds mean nothing since the CPUs will be slightly less advanced. Therefore the “impressive” 1.5 ghz of the other phones will equate to the Bionic’s 1 ghz.

          Display is debatable.

The new Blur is awesome. Haters gonna hate. Besides a simple root and ROM fixes that.

Better to take their time making a quality device than rush out a half assed product.

          • Anonymous

Well you enjoy the amazing Bionic and I will enjoy the first true 4G LTE super phone that VZW has to offer.

          • Guest

then moto fans will enjoy the next beast moto has to offer simple as that lol

  • Zebra

$300 for spring’s technology? Sorry, I’ll wait a month or two longer and get an HD phone.

    • DBK

300 (249 with upgrade) for the latest technology. Nothing that is out so far has what the Bionic has and the phones coming out after are the same as the Bionic (just different form factors and skins).

    • Anonymous

Yeah, just look how many dual core, LTE devices are available already! Oh…

    • Corymcnutt

      A month or two…or 3 or 4?

      • Guest

        we are talking about now

  • Titot4u

Desperate people will be crazed to purchase that phone when it first releases. I will wait until the phone gets rooted and by then the price should have dropped half the price.

    • Jim Dandy

Exactly, wait for root. I want to see how many devs are going to jump on this phone.

    • Anonymous

Yeah, because look at how fast VZW dropped their price on a loser phone like the Charge.. oh wait.

  • Paul

I’ll wait for it to be $200. And if the Prime, Vigor, GS2 are $200 before the Bionic, even better!

    • DBK

Don’t hold your breath for the Prime or the SGS2, and the Vigor will probably be priced the same.

      • Paul

True, but I’m talking about buying through Amazon/3rd party, never know with them.

        • DBK

          True enough.

  • http://twitter.com/myermenson Michael Yermenson

I think its $100 too much.  Wirefly will prolly have it a lot cheaper within a few weeks.

    • DBK

      249 with upgrade

  • OG Droid

Pre-ordering this on September 1st then. HELLS YEAH!!!

  • Anonymous

Is anyone surprised? This is the first dual core, LTE phone on the network and it will be their flagship phone. I think both Moto and Verizon expect this to sell no matter what they price it at, and sadly, they are right. I am personally skipping this one and waiting until the end of Sept. I hope I’m wrong, but I expect this thing to be just “ok” compared to what’s going to follow shortly after its release

    • DBK

Unfortunately, this will be pretty much the same as those coming after, just different form factors and skins.

      • Anonymous

I don’t know – 720p dislays, Super AMOLED HD, thinner profiles, no BLUR – that’s different enough for me. I personally want to see what this “Celox” turns out to be.

        • DBK

The difference in displays is minor at best, thinner isn’t always better, and the new Blur is actually amazing (and closer to a stock skin than any of the other ones).

          • 00110001

The differences are more than minor. Go use a real display for a few days and then see if the differences are minor.

        • http://twitter.com/binglut9 Brian

Its all speculation and no solid release information who knows when that tech will be ready to roll out

        • http://twitter.com/NemaCystX NemaCystX

11 more days until we see whats coming to Verizon, it’ll definitely have LTE, but we don’t know what model we’ll get.  I was very much hoping for the actual SII or even the Celox design that was leaked in Korea with the touch pad, but it looks like the CELOX for the US looks similar to the T-Mobile Hercules, very much rounded like the NEXUS S, but larger screen, 4.5″ Super AMOLED HD, 1.5ghz dual core, 1GB of RAM etc.
