Man, dont be pissed, just enjoy your Xoom for what it is. A pretty decent tablet really. Nobody can possibly ever keep up with the new technology thats constantly comming out…its just impossible. Well, unless you got the coinage to blow on each and every new device that drops. So actually, yeah, if you got the cash, just buy the next latest greatest, or like ya said, just keep selling whats old to buy whats new i guess. Reminds me of that Best Buy commercial where ol girl is like “But I just bought this one!!” when they’re announcing the new tablet or some shit…its so true

It’s not like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a completely new model with next gen specs. It’s basically the XOOM, but done right; both have 10.1″ screens, Honeycomb, a dual core, Cortex A9 processor, and the promise of 4G. The Samsung, however, actually has LTE and a much better screen (and form factor overall) to boot.

We’re not talking about a Moto Droid OG against a Galaxy S II; this is more akin to the Droid X vs. the original Galaxy S series.

Except that your logic fails.. this device on a 2 year contract costs $529.. retails for what 700, 800?

2-Year contact on an Android smartphone, 200-300, the latter of that being the charge which nobody wants because its made my samsuck. regardless.. those devices are in the 500-700 range outright. Why on earth would a bigger device with a similar full retail cost so much more on a contract that ultimately you’re getting raped on anyway. This should be 300 and 400 on contract AT MOST.

The reason for the price difference is Verizon only gets to charge you monthly for data on this device. So of course they’re going to charge you more up front for it so they can make even more profit. Because, at the end of the day that is all that Verizon, or any other carrier is concerned with, revenue. Ultimately though, its not worth it, you’d be better off getting a Verizon 4G device and paying monthly for tethering after buying the wifi-only version of this tablet.

Wait, so the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has kept its form factor in tact even with the LTE radio? Color me surprised.
