no, nobody thinks that’s how it went down; but the point is that since this can already be done, ahead of Google’s update, Motorola would have been smart to have their programmers incorporate a similar fix before releasing it. a slight delay for a product with a huge advantage over the competitor’s offering (many people don’t get an ipad purely due to lack of expandability), would be better than sending out a product that’s crippled

Because you’ve never experienced the business pressure of trying to get a new device with a new OS to market ahead of your competitor’s second release of their Juggernaut product?

Honestly, some of the comments in forums astound me. So you think that there was some willfully decision making inside of Motorola that went along the lines of “hey, lets put an SD card slot in these bad boys but ship with them deactivated so we can piss off the customers that we dont have yet!” Really? You really think that’s how it all went down?

I went back and re-ran the one click root since they updated on the xda thread yesterday. Worked great and I now have sdcard2!! I rooted my og droid a long time ago, but the adb stuff is still beyond me….but this one click root ap for the xoom went smoth as silk. Going out to get my 32 g sd card today!! Would have posted thanks on the xda thread but the registration wouldnt let me….so……thanks!

Actually it says…2.6.36.3 tiamat. It rooted easy with the one click..but not seeing SD card 2 in root explorer. Maybe I missed a step–

There should be an update for the wifi too and part of that process to root has the new kernal in it. Once you are done with the one click go to your tablet specs and you should see the tiamit kernel 1.3.0 there.

I rooted using the one click method yesterday. Are you saying that kernal enables the SD card recognition?
I have the wifi version and that a DB template is greek to me…

They may be launching with it ready to go, but the key here is that they are not launched. The xoom not having SD card capabilities isn’t moto’s fault, Google wanted to get it out of the door so they pushed it with what they had at the moment. By the time these other tablets are launched with full SD support, I’d be willing to bet the xoom has already seen its update giving it full functionality.

Read a little bud as the sdcard wasn’t enabled because at the moment honeycomb can’t use it its more googles fault then moto’s but hey blame whoever. And comparing the transformer to the xoom and saying the transformer is better in specs is totally dumb there the same. Same tegra 2. Same memory. Same internal storage unless you get the cheap 400 16gb version. The one difference for those of us that paid the overpriced xoom price we will have 4g lte when its upgraded. Does that justify the over 300 more then the other ones no probably not.

Head over to XDA and use the new improved one click root method and it has the new kernal installed in the program so all you have to do is run it and when you get to the accept or decline screen after it reboots just decline it then restart manually (power/volume+) it will continue on for those who do not like to use ADB
