I went ahead and wrote up a tutorial for these docks for ADW Launcher EX. You can find it here: http://pucuck.wordpress.com/2011/03/30/adw-launcer-ex-tutorial-for-custom-docks/

I don’t know if there are other ways to do this, but this is the way I’ve always been doing it. I’ll get the Launcher Pro tutorial started next.

Menu>Preferences>Appearance>Dock Background>Custom>Choose the folder where the dock is stored.

Heres the ADW instructions….

First, download this blank png file: http://www.mediafire.com/?iakg6ukh9y6dt91

This takes a bit of work to do but you would drag the icon of that app to that spot on the dock. Then you long press on that icon and hit “edit”. Click on the icon in the window and use that blank .png file to make this work. Rinse and repeat.

I’m going to write up a full tutorial with screen grabs for Launcher Pro and ADW on my blog so people will know how to use these docks.

i have ADW ex on the original droid…no scrollable dock…when i swipe up or down it hides the dock with no gesture to bring it back up…i used to use launcherpro plus…that had a scrollable dock…

How do you install these? I’m rooted running 2.3.3 (courtesy of Peter Alfonso) on my droid and I have Launcher Pro installed.

Anyone actually figure out how to use these on adw ex… My normal dock just sits on top of the words. I’d like the words to actually work when I press them

So why are there icons already on the dock images? Wouldn’t our app icons just sit on top of those…over laying them?

Good for you buddy. On my 4.3 inch screen, I stream free movies directly on megavideo because it uses flash. I win.

I used Apex 1.4.1, Liberty 1.5, Darkslide 4.2, and now the GB leak. For performance and stability, I’d rate it like this 1. GB leak (using Launcher Pro Plus) 2. Darkslide (using ADW Launcher, very close 2nd place) 3. Apex 4. Liberty. This is only my observation with MY handset though. Only two apps that I’ve used so far don’t mesh well with GB leak, but that is understandable seeing as how it’s a leak and the devs haven’t completed prepared for it yet. I hated Blur Froyo and did everything I could to get rid of it. Now, I’m loving the new Blur. Small features such as the automatic text message that is generated when you decline a call, the uninstall/share an app feature straight from the drawer, etc are extremely useful. Whether those are characteristics of blur or GB, I don’t know, but they make this phone very useable. Moto has given me hope for their brand that I lost long ago. If they would get off of the bootloader sabotage, I’d be truly impressed without a doubt. Anyone dogging the new blur, I would doubt that they used it first. It may not be your taste, but you can’t deny that it is a huge step in the right direction and, at the very least, an extremely useable update.
