I am referring tobthe fact that the lapdock is essentially useless if it doesn't have the phone plugged into it. I can be on my phone making phone calls while my buddy plays on my xoom, they are also not connected so if I need to go into the other room I can and he still has the ability to be on the tablet. Don't get me wrong its a cool thing but it just seems limiting. Also one thing I have been wondering if it can be on the phone while using data? I know the thunderbolt is supposed to have this feature over 3g but was unsure about the atrix/ bionic because if it didn't that would also be a huge deal breaker, because the XOOM has its own internet connection.

my understanding is that you can also make phone calls in Lapdock mode. I dont own the Lapdock yet but I was given a demonstration via a video that showed the user making a phone call while in Lapdock mode. I dont know what else you feel that having two separate items that give you access to phone and one to internet is better than having it rolled into one when combined.

The decade that Apple reigned supreme is already over. Let us welcome 2011 with the new king, Motorola! Having the docking accessory is a milestone for this company but being able to interchange models from this dock is such a genius idea. Sooner or later, other companies will try to imitate what Motorola has accomplished. I’m also excited to see the answer from Apple after seeing Atrix. As of now, all they can do is think and start from scratch because even iPhone 5 can not compete with this genius innovation.

Dont care. After playing with the Atrix and features im not sold. Great device don't get me wrong. I would rather have a phone without the locked bootloader. I can see my Thunderbolt running CM7 in the future sitting next to my Tablet (whether its be the Xoom, HTC Flyer, or whatever I decide to get) and that's good enough for me. Screw web-top.

Im guessing that an additional 512MB will show up when the WebTop code does on the phone. Imagine the complaints if 512 MB of RAM showed up on day one and you could use it for anything because the webtop code was not yet available. People would cry about battery being used for nothing or try to hack the system to utilize it for the Android OS.

Note: This is my speculation; based upon what I would do if I were doing the engineering over at Motorola.

I don't know all of this is a direct quote but this is what I saw from MobileBeat:
"Motorola will be bringing its Webtop apps and their corresponding docks to all of its high-end smartphones in the second half of this year, CEO Sanjay Jha told investors today."

The specs for the bionic are pretty much the same as those of the atrix, save the ram, radios, camera, and the bio scanner. Even the USB/power and HDMI connectors look to be in the same general configuration and location. Coincidence?

My thoughts too, or perhaps the additional 512MB is in the device but hidden from the OS (since supposedly the OS doesn't utilize it) until Motorola could get around to enabling the WebTop code.

As near as I can tell it's functionaly the same non-moto blur that exists on the droid x. It just has the green and blue icons on the bottom and some slightly different widgets. I don't have an Atrix (D2 here) so I don't know if there's deeper social media intergration than that, like the real Moto Blur UI.
