I have used verizon for more years than i can count. I had a 4 phone family plan that ran 200+ before taxes each month. I was the dummy who could never end the contract as new phones came out, I had to have one but the other 3 family members got sick of the fees associated with verizon. My kid went to sprint, my ex went to metropcs, and my younger kid went to virgin mobile. They all pay significantly less than my “new” individual plan. The virgin mobile one is one third of my cost per month and is unlimited everything except minutes, which is the only thing I don’t care about…One third the price! And no verizon and their locking out features stuff. I will not be tempted by anything new this time. I still have 16 months to go or buy out my contract.

Inspire comes with 4GB internal memory and 8GB SD Card. Thunderbolt comes with 8GB internal and 32 GB SD Card. That’s 40 GB of memory instead of the Inspires 12 GB. IMO, the extra capacity will improve the phone experience a lot. While I think $300 is too much, I thought the $250 speculated price seemed fair… similar phones with 16 GB cards are going for $200, so they obviously wouldn’t sell it for the same as those. As for the Inspire, it is a complete fail. Carriers need to stop selling phones with trash 8GB cards. I use a lot of memory and I will never go back to a phone with less than 32 GB capacity! Hopefully we start seeing some phones with 60-100+ GB memory in the next few years.

Thunderbolt for $299 and at&t Inspire for $99. Hmmm, same phone. Big RED, what a rip off! I’ll never buy your Thunderbolt.

If paying more for 4g service is what it’s coming down to, I refuse to get a 4g phone. It’s insane how much more money you’d have to pay for an extra 10 seconds of waiting to download something. Not fair for verizon to make insane price jumps.

This info is incorrect. Prices for Verizon data will still remain unchanged….now as far as the upgrade policy…yes it is now a whopping 2 years but Verizon still has a great service to offer……the lte is just a start.

If 5 gig on a smartphone is “the real cap” then how come I regularly go around 8 gig with no problem or charge? Unlimited smartphone… is and was unlimited.

What people don’t understand is the 3G pricing is already insanely high. We are being royally screwed by the oligopolist carriers that stick together with pricing and gouge us, while providing sub-par services. If these are the true pricings, I don’t see how VZ believes that ANYONE will pay that much. Every VZ customer who wants 4G would sooner switch to the (more) reasonable prices of Sprint.

Uhh its $50 for 5GB of mobile broadband with mifi or 4g modem used to be $59.99 for 5GB so price went down for 4g USB mobile broadband article only compares it with that price does not know actual price nor limits I believe would it will b the same at first until VZW fully calculated how much the normal user would use the 4G then they might add caps on limit based on that info

Chances are, VZW will follow Sprint’s lead and charge similar prices for their 4G plans….my question is, will VZW force you to get the 4G plan and pay for it like Sprint does? I would like to get a 4G phone because of the hardware and when 4G is available in my area, then I can decide if I want to pay more for an LTE plan. I would avoid the new LTE phones if they force you to pay extra like Sprint does. That would be like having the power company charge you for electricity even if you are Amish. Is paying over $200 for a phone with better hardware worth it? I say yes, these are essentially tiny computers with smaller hard drives….hdmi out + bluetooth keyboard/mouse + Google Docs (etc) = average user’s computer needs.

Yes, we do have to combine and stop Verizon from increasing their rates sky high!!! Like many have already said the cost of cell phones nowadays are one of the most expensive things we pay a MONTH. True, phones now have FAR more value now than they did 10 years ago and many of us can’t live without them now. But charging such a premium SUPER messed up. LOWELL MCADAM EVEN SAID AT CES That “If the press writes something long enough and hard enough it will eventually come true” So C’mon GUYS. SPEAK WITH YOUR WALLETS. AT&T AND VZW MAKES WAY TOO MUCH MONEY ALREADY!!!!
