Wouldn’t you be able to terminate your contract because they are changing this policy they’re changing what the contract consisted of of?

LAME! Just another way to make money off of an already overly profiting company. If att still does the 1 a year ill switch in a heartbeat.

Verizon has truly gone down hill in the pit of greed and dis-service to its customers! My whole family plus most of my friends use verizon…so much to my dismay I will stay with them…HOWEVER.. I am extremely “ticked” off and hope the company loses profits this year and years to come. I have been a loyal customer for over 11 years….with always a 2 year contract….but just because I decided to go to 1 yr contract last year…….so I could get a new phone in 10 months….I am “disqualifed” to get their “loyalty discount”. And now they tell me we can only get a 2 yr contract and have to wait 24 months to get another phone! Screw them…….I’ll keep my old Samsung until doomsday!

I was going to upgrade my phone but i was wondering if they make you sign a new 2 year contract to do so i am already in my 20th month with them i don’t want to sign another contract

Yea, been Verizon customer for 10 years, want to upgrade 3 phones to iPhone, willing to sign 2-year contract for each phone, just want the same deal as someone walking in off the street gets for price of the phone. What I get is a “anything else I can help you with’” comment after they tell me I have to pay full retail. They know they have you by the gonads with early termination penalties. I’ve paid these guys $300+ per month for 10 years, very loyal, and they could care less.

You still get the early one year OR NE2. Had you upgraded before January 16th, it was my understanding you would then still have one more NE2. (because you would sign another contract before the change started) So now all you have to do is decide which LTE phone you want!

this is true, if they change anything in their contract and it affects you, you can ask to be removed from your contract without you paying because they changed the terms not you so maybe that will help. Im gonna call in too and have them terminate my family contract, and maybe i’ll just get a new one to get a new phone def no an i*phone.

wow…and ive always raved about how great i thought verizon was!! now im kinda wishing i would have stayed with at&t!! maybe i will just switch carriers when this damn contract runs out!

Pass it on! I just confirmed it over the phone when trying to get my one year upgrade. My upgrade was supposed to be for March (or so I was told by a rep. at a BJ’s wholesale club when I last renewed and agreed to move to a family plan!) and tonight I am told I cannot renew until November of 2011. Not in March but NOVEMBER. In addition, my boyfriend cannot renew his phone in March for his one year upgrade even if he wanted/needed to because as of Jan. 16, 2011 Verizon will no longer offer the one year upgrade with a new two year contract. They’re not advertising it because “it’s not part of your contract”. The one year upgrade that is. MY PHONE DOESN’T WORK!!! It doesn’t ring, it doesn’t answer, I cannot turn it off without removing the battery first?!, the speaker phone doesn’t work, the sound doesn’t work, the keyboard only works half of the time, and it turns on and off all by itself all day so that my battery is dead by noon! The only thing I am able to do with my phone is text message, facebook, email, and use the camera. I’ve been with Verizon since 2002 and this is the treatment I am getting. I pay my bill every month. I renew with them religiously, always locking in on a two year plan, and when my phone doesn’t work, not only can I not get a new phone but they want to send me a used phone! This is the treatment I get for being loyal all these years, patiently waiting for the iPhone because Verizon is so great. Putting up with their crappy selection of phones because the coverage is so great. Crap on me, right Verizon? Crap on me!

Was just informed by a Verizon rep. that we are not grandfathered in because the 1 year upgrade policy is not part of any contract and therefore will not be honored! Am super pissed!

I would just like to point out that Verizon has ALWAYS had 1-year upgrade options, if you choose a 1-year contract, like I do. In fact, a 1-year contract lets you get subsidized upgrades every 10 months. The catches are that there was no NE2 upgrade discount, and you have to pay $70 more than the advertised 2-year contract price for whatever phone you choose. I’m guessing the extra cost is to partly make up for what they lose in the subsidized part of the phone cost that you would have paid through your rate plan over the additional year. Yes, it’s a little more money up front, but it keeps me from having to pay full price for a phone, and 10 months is a very acceptable upgrade window, to stay with current technology.
