Bugless Beast V0.6 Released with Bits of Gingerbread

It has arrived. In an interview we had with Pete not too long ago, he announced that Bugless Beast Version 0.6 would be a ‘from source’ ROM. Mmm, from source. It has been released and just in time for it to snag some nice goodies from Gingerbread.

Even from first boot I can tell people will like this. With only an 800MHz kernel running, this thing flies. So after the jump get the download link and have yourself a scoop of Bugless!

For OG DROID Only Please!

1.  Place the Bugless Zip file on your SD Card and make sure to Wipe Data and Cache.
2.  But before doing all that, please make a backup!

Download:  Bugless Beast Version 0.6
Chanelog: Android Overdrive

You can also find in ROM Manager for easy installation.  Enjoy!

    You da man Pete

  • imronburgundy

Which phone is this for? Unless I'm an idiot, I didn't see it mentioned anywhere before or in the “about phone” screen shot.

    • digipimp

      OG Droid

    • Keithsmnr

Welcome to “Droid Life” …the name implies something…think…think..

      • imronburgundy

Obviously you are the one new to droid life if you think that everything on this site is for og droid. A lot of posts on this site are about droid x, incredible, 2 and global. So think before you open your mouth and prove what a douché you are.

  • DunnerDroid31

I'm running it now and I'm def a fan. I tried out that gingerbread rom last night and couldn't get my browser working, although market and all other gapps seemed fine. This is a solid rom that does exactly what it is supposed to, work.

  • Colin

I've been using Bugless since V0.4 and this is the best yet. Super smooth installation and its running really solid on my 2 droids. Pete has really outdone himself with this release.

  • Don Duck

Any way of removing the clock from the notification bar?

  • marleyinoc

Wow, I hopped on this fully expecting to pop back to 226 on CM but I think I'll keep it for awhile. Haven't left CM in a loooong time, too. Ever since… an early bugless beast. It's the same kernel as CM but I've restored data to my most used apps, set up LP widgets, and this thing is still zipping along. Kudos. Plus, I can show off the gingerbits! Geebeeeeees!

  • Gemnsitone

Loving this ROM. BEST ONE YET. Super fast. Love the CPU freq Tool. Waiting to see how battery lasts. Thanks again Pete.

  • PDX Rainmaker

Pete brought the heat. This ROM is incredibly fast.

  • Wglisso1

is there a 1 click root method fro the new frg83 OG DROID????? lost root when my phone updated 🙁

  • digitalicecream

how do we get the new market on this?

  • okland272012

anyone know how to get rid of the battery percentage?? I don't like it with the standing battery icon

  • ~dArK.AnGeL

  • dx

we need this on the droid x!

  • Misphit917

BB6 is dope, but CyanogenMod is king and that's realtalk.

  • m.

Wow, this is fantastic! My humble thanks (and donations) to Pete! Only thing missing is the updated Market.

  • Archangel

    No droid x love

  • Mr_dukesnhs09

is this for all android devices…sorry im new to the android world and to this site

  • Joyride1031

I love everything except the launcher… How do you changed the buttons? I dont need a quick link to google talk, i need one to messaging!

    • CivilDroid

      Launcher pro plus

  • All this is confusing. So many files staring at me. Do you have to be rooted? Which file do we dload for Gingerbread?

  • Josh h

  • Brandenwill

Double tapping the space bar doesn't insert a peroid anymore. I looked for a setting to fix this problem. However, I was not able to find one. Am I the only one having this issue?

    • Yeah I just noticed this glitch also. It's not working on the onscreen Android Keyboard but it works fine on the physical keyboard. Hopefully Pete notices this but I'll also try to reach him via Twitter and you guys should also try to get this to his attention.

      • Brandenwill

I asked him on twitter a few hours ago but have not received a response yet.

    • I hope this is one of the fixes he plans on including because that’s totally annoying.

  • is there gestures? like on cyanogen rc5, its impressive, i cant change my rom without getting this on the next one….

  • Whatever happened to making calls with SIP? (Internet calling)

  • Riverjao

I already posted once concerning the new Droid family jewel that Pete gave us today, but man I just simply cannot tell you how pleased that I am with this amazing Rom. Way to go Petey. Mucho gracias senor!

    • Drjable

I'm about to install v.6. do i need to wipe data and cache? thanks.

      • skltr21

most likely. i would just to be safe.

  • durtoffmyshoulda

    Thanks Pete!
I'm having some auto brightness trouble with this though

What widget is that with the android?

  • akazerotime

Well i was half right with my post: http://www.droid-life.com/2010…/
I almost feel like I am cheating on CVPCS. Finally set it up the way I like but oh well. Cant wait to try this Pete!

  • Riverjao

Just got BB 0.6 on me lovely OG, and it is sweet! I telll ya, I love CM's 6.1.2 (as everything else the man does, even though I'm only a recent CM convert & believer) but BB's new ROM is def a worthy 2nd place in my opinion. Love it! Way to go Pete!

  • Alex M Keech

    you are the best peter

  • Reeddawnvaka

i like the system app and overclocking processes intagrated into the settings!!!!!!

  • Dfhfth
  • yo bro i know you like that black notification bar lol

  • Downloading now!

  • Friedricho

Do we have to wipe data and cache if we are coming from 0.5?

    • drjable

      same question here.

    • jason6g

i always make a backup to be safe, then i try installin without wiping. if all seems well and fast and a nice improvement – or at least no losses – then i keep rockin on. if it just blows out of the gates then i wipe and install fresh

  • one thing i miss about my OG droid is BB…

    nostalgia setting in…

    • I pulled the OG out of the drawer just to put this on there…

  • OK. OG droid, needing to root and get this. What is the easiest way from here to there? Also interested in that 800MHz boost…

  • Murphy

Dang, I abandoned BB and went with Ultimate Droid. I can't see myself pulling away just yet 🙁

    • That's what they make nandroid backups for 😉

  • The battery numbers dont look right. the rom im using just have the 1-9 without 0's. fits better since the battery is so skinny.

  • Flashfist22

Yo thanks Pete. I'm a Rom/Root noob and all these roms are Fire!

  • Chouch84

nothin for the droid 2? ive only seen like 2 roms for the d2 unless there's a link somewhere with others….

  • Djspikezz

Wish Pete would work on Droid X, OG droid is great and all, but it's time to retire it :P. I used to have one, loved it, but out with the old in with the new!

    • Keithsmnr

What!!! The original Droid is still the best! FULL rooting capabilites, custom recovery, custom roms, over clocking up to 1.2ghz. This is DROID-LIFE. And thanks to the motorola Droid we have this massive community and developers making amazing things for this device! I have had my Droid for a year and I DO NOT plan on upgrading anytime soon! BTW how's that battery life on the X?

Get the heck out of there with this crap!

      • Mth2134

Battery life on my x is fine. I still use my og on wifi only for the great custom things it can do. I love it. But I'm sorry. The x destroys my og in every other category. 🙂

        • Keithsmnr

Point is, this is Droid-life and we have to respect the roots of this community.

          • Mth2134

Um….do u see the post 2 spots down about the theme for dx? Moto droids are all covered on this site.

          • Keithsmnr

Yes, but this gentleman was asking us to move on from the original Droid and to “get with the new”

          • Mth2134

Ah. I see what you are responding to. I think I was reading it differently. I agree with you in the sense that no one should move on from the og. 🙂

          • Djspikezz

haha what a reaction! I feel like some people are trying to sell me a droid 1. I love Droid X with it's awesome extended battery. The phone's power lasts longer and it charges faster then OG. Yes OG was awesome, but I like my more beastly 4.3″ screen for my big manly hands and the 1GZ stock and it's easier to use the touch screen with DX.

Just Saying, I love Bugless Beast, but COME ON, Show some love to the newest Moto members, DX is sooo insanely awesome.

      • Flyinion

Not only that but the original Droid is still the highest in count sold and I'm guessing only a small percentage of us (definitely NOT me included) are able to afford paying full price to move to a newer model before the two year contract is up. Even if you bought it on a one year you're just barely in range to go buy a new model. So please devs, do not drop the OG yet 🙂

    • Murphy

    • not kool

  • The350zWolf

I just got a couple of tweets showing the Droid Por and Droid2 Global with bands unlocked using t-mobile and att networks!!! Cool!

  • CivilDroid

Just when i get Miui all figured out and set up the way i like it…arrrrrrrg 🙂

    • download this in the rom manager then click backup, wipe data & cache then run it if you dont like it than restore the backup

    • I suggest just sticking with MIUI over this.

  • FrenchToast

    I want REAL Gingerbread… not kanged…

    • you got owned by the master of roms haha

      • Debatable. He is definitely ‘A’ master of ROMs, but ‘THE’ I think is a bit presumptuous, especially because outside of the D1 and DX, he doesn’t develop much (if at all). That isn’t a bad thing, but you have to remember that ROMs are for WAY more than just Droids.

I’ll wait for a lil while longer to get a full fledged, stable 🙂

    • The gingerbread parts are not kanged, they are from source, so it is REAL gingerbread in my ROM.

      • <3

      • Anonymous

What I meant was that I want Android 2.3, not bits n pieces all joined together. I greatly appreciate all the Android devs out there, and I never want to bash any of them. Apologies for any misunderstandings there.

        • yeah you didn’t mean that.

          • Anonymous

Didn’t mean my apology??? I fail to understand.

          • No, you didn’t mean you wanted Android 2.3. You meant exactly what you said the first time, and now you must die.

      • mb

Parts = kang. Real Gingerbread = no Froyo leftovers. Cut ‘n paste is OK for some, I suppose.

      • Mscaduto

how much gingerbread is actually in this? does it have that orange glow when you reach the end of a list and all that fun stuff?

      • Mth2134

        Aw snap. 😛

      • Joemega2010

        “POW! Right in the kisser”

    • you got owned.

  • That's one awkward looking text message notification icon.

    • Metamorph much? 😛

      P.S. Where ya been?!?!?!?!?

      • Anonymous

I’m with that guy on this I want the original green smiley guy haha, but I’m kinda new with metamorph so how would I be able to get that?

    • I’m pretty sure thats Handcent.

  • The350zWolf

Finally and just in time getting my BB fix!

  • Phoxus

ISO pete's work on the Droid X.

  • I want Gingerbread on the Incredible already!!!!

  • Flyinion

Wow might have to check this out

    • Still running 1.1.1 also. GEM 2.0 is having much progress, as many of Obsidian's issues are being fixed, but cvpcs started messing with gingerbread.. *facepalm*

      • Flyinion

Yeah I kinda thought he might have started integrating GB since around the time Sapphire.next was supposed to come out, GB got announced.

        • The syntax of your sentence kind of exploded at the end there, but yeah, cvpcs spent all day working on gingerbread yesterday, so that was kind of fun to hear in #cvpcs make 2k+ commits. 😛

Just, good thing is, progress is being made regardless, although it really has been a while.

          Have you tried 1.1.4? http://www.droidforums.net/forum/cvpcs/87324-unofficial-ccrom-builds.html
if you feel like enjoying some 2.2.1 on your phone.
(I do not suggest flashing 1.1.5, there are audio issues due to obsidian changes leaking into the sapphire builds).
