Real HDMI App for DROID X Unlocks HDMI Magic

Time to take your Droid X and use it’s HDMI out feature the way it was meant to be used through Real HDMI. From developer Gman comes the first app which allows you to hook up your DX, see the display simultaneously on your TV and take full advantage of its awesomeness.

There are a few limitations, but remember that this is brand new and will continue to get better through time. If you have a Droid X, this is definitely worth your money.

When I am in YouTube watching a video on the TV with this app I get two black bars on the screen which came out to be the On and Off buttons on the app. Also when I go full screen I get a outline of the smaller screen in the middle of the video.

USER TIP FOR SEMI-MIRRORING (don't know if mentioned already so bare with me). If you want to see a mirrored keyboard, for instance, just make sure the “shake” feature is enabled and shake your phone to disable the hdmi output temporarily, bring up the keyboard on your X, then shake it again to enable the hdmi output. You will now have a frozen keyboard on your X while typing. This also works well for emulators.

That's what I thought. That app is soft of cool, yet it's very counter intuitive.

I would only want this to watch the NFL app. Have we confirmed that it doesn't work? I know one other said it didn't but did the NFL app work for anyone with this app?

Just downloaded, it, I can't see any of the vidoes, NFL Mobile, Can't Play any Music (except midi's). All this program will do right now, which is kinda usless (cause you have to guess at where to touch your screen) is move around the menu. I saw the youtube video but im not one who watches youtube.

I would wait, unless you wanna just play with it for the heck of it.

While this app is pretty cool in concept I think it will be downrated into oblivion in the app store on a count of the screen to screen discrepancy.

The app is a “beta” which means it's still a work in progress. The dev is very open stating it as so. It's pretty prmosing IMO and at minimum shows we have the right capabilities there.

I have to say I like this app quite a bit but I have 2 black bars on the screen. Anyone else have this issue and if so is there a fix? Its not a deal breaker or anything just curious.

would it be possible to record the videos with the phone in a dock or similar? The amount of motion and shaking the phone makes my eyes bleed (not to mention the lame intro). Not trying to troll, just offer some constructive criticism as I love this blog.

Well, I'll get to try it out on wednesday when my X comes. Just got an email this morning saying it had been shipped. My original ship date was sept. 7th so +1 for both VZ & motorola for getting shipments out early !!

Sucks that you can't actually see what you're typing on the phone. I know that's probably coming in a update but it seems like that's a pretty basic feature that shouldn't have been left out of the initial push.

Why do you have to navi-guess on the phone? Shouldn't the app run in the background so the phone will mirror the display that is being displayed on the tv?

It's still new, I bet the dev is already working on that but just wanted to release it now because a lot of people are waiting for something like this.

No actually did not buy a movie but I was given a free download and thats what I tried to use ? it does not work so I refunded the app that would be my onlu use for that app , I can watch other movies with my HDMI cable just fine without the app
