European Milestone 2.1 Update Made Official

The rumors from this morning on the Motorola Milestone in Europe receiving the 2.1 update throughout the next few days was definitely true. Motorola Europe’s Facebook page just chimed in making it official…

And wow! What a Monday! Now we just need our update to arrive.

Personally i dont care about 2.1 anymore. I now just look forward to the non verizon roms and downloads from the dedicated droid fans.

I wonder what the “added security for exchange server users” is? I don't see any difference in the e-mail setup options in any of the 2.1 ROMs that I've tried so far.

Maybe the addition of a pin #. Just a guess. Touchdown has that. Exchange 2007 can require a pin. Don't remember that in 2003 but I forget a lot of things

Even once everyone has the 2.1, wtf is the point?
Being rooted seems a lot cooler anyways am I right? What is sooo cool about 2.1?

im no “hqr” or “wizkid” either. although i've read many posts about rooting, it took me a while before i actually rooted my droid for the first time following this site here, reading comments and following video step by step tutorials posted here in DL. I gotta say i've experienced no hiccups. This site does an amazing job catering to ppl of all learning curves. If your sick and tired of waiting for the OTA, root your DROID! go to the Root (unlock) tab up top and check it out.

Yea, I am definitely thinking about it.
I was actually going to do it last week. But I pussied out lol
There was a lot of lingo I didn't quite understand.
Like “Flash” something or other. And Nandroid or something? lol

I got the Loader, ROM manager, and I copied all the apps with Astro, but then I guess I just chickened out.
How long did it take you, and what were your safety precautions before you took the leap???

you're more than half way there! i really didn't take any precaution. After the OTA got delayed for the second time, i was like FUCK IT~! ahahah It only took maybe 15 mins? You spend more time waiting for everything to load than actually “pressing” keys and manually doing something.

What about this new update for ROM Manager? Will I even need the DM Updater anymore? lol
I guess I'm gonna take the rooted route once I get home tonight….

I agree with kulz. I dont understand half of what is said in here but i rooted my phone recently. It was foolproof and if and when 2.1 comes out i probably wont switch right away. Dont be afraid. The instructions on this site are all you need

Well… don't get sentimental… Here in Argentina we received the 2.0.1 update for our Milestone's 2 weeks ago… So getting the 2.1 will take at least 1 or 2 months more!
