Back on March 7th, we noticed that the Spanish Motorola Milestone was showing up on the official Motorola site as already having Android 2.1. This seemed odd, especially without some sort of press release or other confirmation floating around. Well we definitely have that confirmation now. Spanish wireless carrier Orange announced that it will start accepting pre-orders today for the Milestone coming pre-loaded with Android 2.1.
Madrid, March 22, 2010 – Orange will be the exclusive carrier of Motorola MILESTONE, the first mobile operating system Android equipped with 2.1 available in Spain. Motorola MILESTONE is a next generation device that is destined to become the standard in the current smartphones, thanks to its speed, usability and multifunctionality. During last year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, this terminal was one of the phones that attracted more attention among attendees.
Motorola Milestone will be available later this month. It may make a provisional booking terminal from today, March 22, exclusively through the website of Orange(www.orange.es).Users who book Milestone Motorola may acquire the terminal from 0 € *.
Of course this comes as no surprise with the amount of Android 2.1 news popping up all over the world today. First it was Bulgaria, then Germany, Hong Kong and Italy, and now Spain.
On a side note, you should no longer be grumbling about our lack of OTA-ness here in the states, but simply laughing hysterically at the absurdity of it all.

I have no information to back this up, but I suspect the reason the update was delayed here in the US was due to the recent legal threats from Apple against HTC. The delay is probably Verizon waiting on it's lawyers to say it's safe and give the go ahead.
In what way would that stop Moto, Google or Verizon? You give Apple way too much credit. If they fancy a pop at Google I'd like to sit back and watch em try.
The delay is nothing to do with any fruit based idiocy….
I'm waiting on reports of how 2.1 will compare to Cyanogen. I have Cyanogen right now and it's fantastic in every way possible. The only things missing are the camera and video apps, and pinch to zoom…
If I hear promising things I'll return to stock then update and reroot. But I am sure it will only be a matter of time until the good portions of the moto/verizon OTA hit the rooting world and get added to a mod. Once again making modding the reigning champ of roms.
PS: It is now 07:00 here on the East Coast and still no reports of OTA hitting phones.
… continue
– Pressing the return key sends SMS issue now solved
– Dictionary now works with hardware keyboard typing
Cons
– Harder to access lock pattern and normal lock
– Still lag sometimes on the home screen
For Milestone:
– Random reboot solved
– Music skipping sloved
– Revised camera and video apps
– Adds voice dial
– Faster Bluetooth pairing (test with Moto HX1)
– Some some new apps
– Battery improvements
– Browser text wraps correctly when zooming in
– Can have a selection of up to 9 home panels, but no quick jump shortcut like the Nexus One (stupid)
I think Moto priority isto improve stability, I am happy that the reboot issue is gone. Best phone on the market for me now.

im used to these slow update roll outs…i had the storm and i had to download the leaked version months in advance of the official OS.
Actually guys I just heard some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that we aren't going see the 2.1 OS OTA update this coming week nor the next. The good news, the Verizon Tech Rep. told me the 2.1 OS update will definitely start rolling April 8th. That's all he said and I asked about flash and his exact words were “you're gonna have to wait and see on the 8th.”
I think we are getting are update within the next couple of days (hopefully). a Verizon Customer Serive Rep emailed today about the update. rather then post the information in two places, I posted it below in the other article: Android 2.1 Updates Surfacing Everywhere but US ( http://www.droid-life.com/2010/03/22/android-2-…) check it out. Everything he told me kinda makes sense also, at least to me.
what about us in Canada? No news whatsoever for our milestone.
Is Verizon Wireless the only network that does updates like this? Sprint handles them directly through their website. Why does Verizon Wireless have to use Bitfone? There has to be a faster way to get what we want. All the representatives I've spoken with claim that the update will hit our Droids before the Nexus One comes out. Hmm… when is the Nexus One supposed to hit Verizon Wireless? Didn't they say TOMORROW? But it's likely that the representatives I talked to were uninformed and really didn't know what they were talking about. Sigh, I really want to root again and go back to Cyanogen but I know that the moment I do Verizon Wireless will release the update…
Bitfone = we don't know a BIT about updating your Fone, or if you're lucky we'll update your Fone in a Bit…
lol m/
Bitfone can lick my coffee sack.
That a medium roast? 😛
Vrzn and bitform are late to the game once again!!!!!!!
