No, this will only work with 2.0.1. To root a 2.2 device, you need EasyRoot. See this post: http://www.droid-life.com/2010/08/09/easy-root-…

Once I install it and open it it says theres a update available ( Install ) ( Quit) i click install and I have to buy the freaking update for $20 bucks! This is a bunch of bullsh!t!!!

ya remove it from your SD card or copy over to your computer and rename it to android 2.1 update 1 or something like that so you know what it is. Just remember to name it update again if you would ever install it for some reason again.

when 2.1 OTA was being pushed, like many of us, i didn't wait and did the manual install [update.zip] and have left update.zip in the root of SD since. do i need to remove that update.zip prior to running DM?

If I use one or both of these programs, 2.0.1 root update.zip and Droidmod 1.0 Updater (alt link), would it fix the problem I am having with the installation aborted message when I try to root my phone? Which one should I use? What would happen if I use them? Help!!

Ok, so I still don't have an answer as to why I keep getting an installation aborted message on my phone when I try to root it. I was told if my version of software was 2.1, then I could not root my phone. Where would I look to find what version I have? And if I do have this version, does that mean I really cannot root my phone? I was able to get the dm updater, but it kept upgrading to the newest version when ever I tried to open the program. Would the new version becausing me trouble while trying to root? If I can still root my phone, what do I need to do to get it rooted? Please help!!
