Android 14 has arrived on still-supported Pixel phones and devices. You have likely already grabbed the update, because you own a Pixel device and updates are a big part of ownership. We’ve laid out all of the new features in a separate post, but wanted to point out that the stable build of Android 14 also happens to be a huge bug fixer.
Google posted to its Pixel community forum today to share the bug fix details, listing out at least 75 items they’ve improved or touched on to get Android 14 to stable in this most recent build. It’s a wild list of fixes that is on the level of other quarterly releases.
In this big Android 14 update, Google improved biometrics (like face unlock), Bluetooth stability, camera performance, all sorts of eSIM/SIM/ and other telephony items, and more than a dozen within the user interface. My favorite is probably this – “Fix for jank and touch responsiveness in certain conditions.” We love jank fixes.

I’ve been having problems since the update on my Oppo A5 ever since the update, my phone is supposed to light up when pressing the Home button; this allows me to type my PIN and view my phone, but that only happens after restarting now, the rest of the time I get a black screen and I can’t do anything, does anyone else have this issue?
Are “push to hold” notifications broken for anyone else after this update? (App icon has the notification circle, but you can’t push and hold the icon to see it anymore) – you have to use the notification shade?

I don’t know but my pixel 6 pro seemed smoother on Android 13.. The fingerprint reader doesn’t even work as well
I think my 7a fingerprint reader is… better? Doesn’t seem to ‘not recognize’ as often as two days ago. Too soon to know if it’s a fluke.
Anyone else lose their past Google Pixel drops when they updated to Android 14? I no longer have the emoji wallpaper option. For some reason, the Google Play system update went backwards to July 1, 2023 and whenever I tap to update it says Failed to update.
I have rebooted, factory reset, cleared the cache of the Play Store, uninstalled and reinstalled the Carrier Services app. Any suggestions to get back on to the most recent Google Play system update which I think is September, 2023?
PS- I do love the jank fix. My screen used to go into PIN mode and the notifications dropped down whenever I used a cloth to wipe the fingerprints off but now the screen stays off when I wipe it clean. Worth the update just for that fix!

Pixel 6a sideloaded, it is working great for me!
So far 14 is good on my P6P, however, the fingerprint sensor went backwards. I haven’t had any issues with it since the initial few updates after the phone came out. But with Android 14, I now have to touch the fingerprint sensor twice almost every time I unlock, but not for authenticating for apps, like my bank. Really annoying. The good news is, my pre-ordered P8P will be here in a week! ????

I downloaded the update and installed last night. Today I’ll give it a run. Hopefully things are improved and no major issue arise.
