Readiing comprehension is lost on you. I didn’t say that Samsung should sue LG. And I already noted the irony of Samsung being shamelessly copied. What I said was that this type of competition, the copy cat approach, should not be encouraged. I was very hard on Samsung when they released the original Galaxy S for being a cheap iphone knockoff. They’ve since managed to find a design language that, however bland, is distinctly Samsung. HTC, Motorola, Sony, and Nokia all have their own take on the smartphone experience and are able to differentiate their products. What LG is doing adds nothing of value to the mobile landscape. Their Optimus line is full of me-too products that take their UI and design cues from the Galaxy line. They’re trying to be Samsung when they should try to be LG. But I don’t even think they know what that means.

Reviewers have had nothing but good to say about the 13MP shooter on the Optimus G. I’d love to see some of the other guys take some market share from Samsung (and from Apple, of course), just to make it interesting.

…. and Samsung did no such thing? So Samsung copies Apple (we all desperately didn’t want to believe it but they did) and now they should sue LG? I’m going to go with the “rectangle with round corners” argument here and say that it’s a rectangle with three buttons, big deal. Let it go and move on. IMO it’s not a big deal. I think that the design is so generic that it is not deliberate, but who knows?

I don’t want to see Samsung sue LG why? Because they already have such a huge lead on other OEMs. If they did, they would be eliminating the competition then we won’t have many Android options, we’ll only have the Galaxy phone to choose from. Google motto is to not have manufacturers battle each other, they should be battling the real competition which is the other ecosystems.

All in all, I agree it does look a lot like the Galaxy line, but this design and the Galaxy design is WAY TOO GENERIC. Yes they should push the envelope and design something interesting, and LG has done that with their flagship phones. But I don’t think the answer is for Samsung to sue LG.

If by this type of competition, you mean shamelessly copying Samsung at every turn(oh, the irony), then no. I’d much rather they find a way to differentiate themselves and add something innovative to the mobile landscape. Right now, they’re acting like South Korea’s JV team.

“Sammy should sue!” I hope you’re being sarcastic… This type of competition between Android manufacturers is healthy and should be encouraged. I don’t see why any Android fan would want an Android on Android war.
