Nexus 4 Orders Already Shipping From Yesterday, Get Your Confirmation Email Yet?

lg nexus 4 review

Yesterday morning, after what seemed like months (oh wait, it almost was) the Nexus 4 finally returned to Google Play. Who knows how many people flocked to their online storefront to get their hands on the device, but what we do know is that folks are already receiving their shipping confirmations just one day after. Could it be that Google has finally figured this whole “selling things online” situation out?

Did you happen to order one yesterday? If so, have you received your shipping email from Google yet?

And can you believe it, the Nexus 4 is still in stock. Go grab it while you can.

Play Links:  16GB | 8GB | Bumper Case

Cheers Gabriel!

  • Bowen9284

Got my notification today and I am receiving it today. I actually like his way better so I am not staring at Gmail and checking the status every hour.

  • Pavo

I ordered two days ago and I’m still waiting for a shipping confirmation. Don’t know if those who ordered AM are getting shipped and those who ordered PM are screwed!!!

    • Kevin Olson

Doesn’t look that way, I ordered one last night at around 9:30pm EST and as of 6am this morning, it was shipped

  • Milorad

Ordered mine 10 min after they went on sale – got confirmation email 2 minutes ago (ordered two, one 8GB and one 16GB)

  • Kevin Olson

Ordered mine with bumper yesterday at around 12:30pm EST no shipping yet. Wife decided she wanted one too so I ordered her one without a bumper at around 9:30pom EST last night. Hers has shipped as of 6:00am EST this morning.. mine hasn’t…. lol

  • systemantic

my account is debited but 12 hours now and still not email of any sort; on the status of the order?

  • http://profiles.google.com/timaaustin Tim Austin

Does anyone know what wallpaper is in this picture?

  • andyroo

  • Gnico559

I ordered my phone while my car was getting serviced at the dealership yesterday, and at 3a.m. this morning, I received an email saying my phone has shipped. I couldn’t go back to sleep. It is due to arrive 1/31/12 by end of day. It’s currently in sacramento; a mere 3hrs away from me. I’m so excited.

  • OrdinaryAmerican

I love watching geeks duke it out. And the comments here don’t disappoint.

  • will

All who haven’t got a confirmation…did u guys also order the bumper in the same purchase?

    • marirs

I didn’t order the bumper just the 16GB version and I haven’t received confirmation.

      • will

so there goes that theory :(
Hope to see a note from Google tomorrow.

  • http://twitter.com/dvc762 dvc762

shipping confirmation received early AM 1/30 – order for 1 16GB phone at 5:20pm PST 1/29. UPS tracking is showing a departure scan from this morning and estimated arrival of tomorrow before end of day!

  • Chepe

i bought one yesterday and received my shipping confirmation this morning, and will receive it tomorrow afternoon, despite of what it says on the play store SHIPS SOONShips in 1 – 2 weeks.

  • Moory

Ordered my 16GB 10 minutes after sales went live again. Still haven’t received any shipping confirmation yet.

  • Pedro

Shipped, both will be here the 29th.
Three accounts on VZW that can leave at any time. One, free and clear. Two purchased in Dec 2011. Shoot, wife’s company just sent her another business phone (apple-based), but once we figure out the Google Voice porting, we should be good.
I’ve had a phone since November, but waiting to find out the best plan before we started the move. Once we figure this out, instead of $3K of payments to VZW, it turns into $1000-$1500 depending on TMO or ST. Maybe less if the GV porting works for the iphone.
I kinda like the irony there.

    • chadstone30

how will you be able to deal with not receiving MMS messages once you port your number to Google Voice? that’s a dealbreaker for me. not so much because of the picture mail, but because group texts are sent as MMS. i don’t want to miss out on fun times because GV can’t do group texts.

  • Jeff J

I ordered yesterday within minutes as well, two 8gb phones and two bumper cases. I saw here many who hadn’t purchased bumpers were receiving confirmations, so I thought I would try and cancel my bumpers to see if that would speed up the process.

I received the following in my e-mail which leads me to believe they are preparing the bumpers and the phones to ship:

“All orders are processed directly after your purchase is complete. As a result, this means that there is a very short window of time to cancel an order prior to shipping.
Although we attempted to honor your request, we were unable to cancel your order in this window.”

Anyway, thought I’d pass it along.

  • Tony Byatt

Unfortunately, no I have not received the notification and I ordered yesterday at 11:20am Central…

  • atc tech

Ordered mine before the buzz even hit the internet that they were in stock. Still do not have a shipping confirmation. Estimated ship date is 2/13. Sad face.

  • http://www.facebook.com/archercc Ryan Stewart

Ugh, I ordered within 15 minutes of opening and i havent received any notification. :( Mine still says Feb 13th.

  • marirs

I ordered mine yesterday at (29th Jan) at 9:30am PST. Still haven’t received it.
To those who got their shipping confirmation, what time did you place the order ?

    • Pedro

      11:21 CST

  • Arjun

Ordered mine yesterday !! Got my shipping confirmation in the night !! Will be receiving it by end of day tomorrow !! ABSOLUTELY EXCITED !! Cant wait !! :D

  • enigmaco

Woohoo according to my just updated ups tracking i should have it tomorrow boy tomorrow is going to be a long day lol

  • Pavo

I ordered yesterday (Jan 29) and still waiting for shipping confirmation

  • Jon Wolff

Mine just updated, should be here tomorrow…. then I get to wait a few weeks for my vzw contract to expire.

  • RoShFe

Nope – no confirmation here yet (Canada) … Estimated delivery is Feb 13.

  • Reuven Goldenberg

Ordered as soon as it was available. Has been shipped already. Will arrive tomorrow.

  • http://www.facebook.com/beingageek Steve Turner

Got my shipping confirmation! They shipped it 2nd day air no less! Pretty awesome!

    • snowblind64

Just checked and mine is due to arrive tomorrow. Very excited!

Second day air is standard though. We did pay $13.99 for shipping after all.

      • Dragonetti Surprise

Ugh! Jealous of you both! ETA on my shipment still says 1-2 weeks. Patience truly is a virtue, isn’t it?

        Enjoy!

        • snowblind64

Your Nexus will probably ship sooner then that.

My order status also said 1-2 weeks. Then I got the shipping notification email about 14 hours after I placed my order.

          • Dragonetti Surprise

I hope! Already bought the Straight Talk sim and unlimited plan kit for $59. By my count, its been about 45 hours since my initial purchase, so let’s see if those three hours make the difference, since they traditionally have 24-48 hour processing times. lol

          • deantoni

got your confirmation? google says that you should receive it up to 2 business days…

          • Dragonetti Surprise

Just got my email today. Someone at UPS was telling me that Google and UPS are experimenting with a new shipping procedure, where as they use one of the UPS hubs, namely the one in Louisville, Kentucky, as a warehouse. If this is true , it would explain why some people who ordered the same day are getting their orders in different batches.

          • http://twitter.com/Ankit_One77 Ankit Jain

Hey any luck? been more than 48 hours and no email yet :|

  • Geran Smith

I ordered two of them and don’t have shipping confirmation yet.

Reading through these comments, I think I am the only one who doesn’t want a bumper case…

  • J. Gilbertson

Lol… Verizon just called me to do an account analysis over the phone. Tried to talk me into a share everything plan when I’m still on unlimited. Wanted to tell them that come end of contract I was highly considering straight-talk or tmobile and an unlocked nexus that comes with no carrier strings attached. Wanted to also tell them that I was considering ETF as soon as it looked like i could break even quicker.

  • Jim McClain

    no
    no LTE , i’ll pass

  • vitalg

    Ordered my 8gb+bumper January 29, 2013 7:31:41 PM UTC+2. and it’s still pending…

    • Dragonetti Surprise

I hear you. Ordered mine in the morning around 9:58 yesterday. Only I had a discrepancy and ended up duplicating my order on accident with two different cards and needed to cancel one of them.

I’m fairly certain that also plays a hand in processing orders overall. Could be wrong, I just want my order to ship already!

  • Joe Isaacson

Ordered yesterday, no shipping confirmation yet, can’t hit refresh quick enough!!

  • enigmaco

Got my email this morning tracking number and all been trying to track it all day lol

  • http://twitter.com/MBDOWNS Beamish

Why would I order one in a Plebian Black? I need a White Nexus 4 and I like to complain about not having one so I am going to wait. :-)

    • Tim242

Blah, only the back is white.

      • sagisarius

Yeah, that seemed odd to me too…

    • capecodcarl

The nice thing about the white version is it adds support for CDMA and LTE on Verizon. /jk

  • NYAvsFan

Yup, got mine early morning today. Should have it Friday. Can’t wait!

  • me

Waiting for this year’s Nexus 5. That will be the real Nexus to get. The Nexus 4 is an off year for the Nexus Line.

    Nexus One

    Galaxy Nexus

    Nexus 5

Those are the ones to get. I wonder if it is possible to sell an unlocked phone carrier independent that works with Verizon SIM.???? 4G LTE!

    • Prox

If your using CDMA for anything on a VZW phone, not possible. If you use GSM i.e. LTE, then it might be possible. But VZW doesn’t route calling over GSM. So No.

      • Tim242

        LTE is not GSM.

        • JordanMcRae

          Yes it is.

          • Tim242

No, it is not. You should do your research. The use of SIM cards does not mean that it is GSM. CDMA uses SIM cards in most countries. By the way, HSPA+ is not even GSM based. It is WCDMA. GSM data maxed out on EDGE.

          • JordanMcRae

“[LTE] is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, increasing the capacity and speed using a different radio interface together with core network improvements.”

          • Tim242

Copying wikipedia doesn’t prove anything. GSM has been used only for voice calls since EDGE.

          • JordanMcRae

            Enough proof for me.

          • Tim242

Well then you have no understanding of technology. If GSM were capable of higher speeds than EDGE, WCDMA would not have been mandatory for HSPA.

          • Tim242
          • Prox

LTE is the evolution of GSM. Yes it is GSM based.

You need to do your research.

          • Tim242

It’s also an evolution of EVDO. This notion that LTE is GSM is a huge misconception.

          • Tim242

            Here’s my research.http://db.tt/bppVVH7T

          • Prox

Please show me where in this document that it clearly shows that LTE is a evolution of EVDO and not GSM.

          • Tim242

If you read it, you would know it says neither. It explains in great detail how different LTE is from GSM. It is an evolution of UMTS, which is a CDMA tech, not GSM. UMTS is WCDMA.

          • Prox

Thats only for data. LTE is intended to carry both Voice(GSM/CDMA) and faster Data(EDGE/UMTS/WCDMA) ETC. So yes its a change to GSM because LTE will not be using GSM for Voice.

          • Prox

Let me go on further say that document linked contains the following

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the latest mobile telecommunication system defined by the 3rd Generation
Partnership Project (3GPP). It follows up on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE family of systems which are collectively
categorized as ‘Second Generation’ and on ‘Third Generation’ systems family of standards that include
            UMTS/HSPA.

          • Tim242

Follows up does not equal based off of. Read further. It explains in great detail how LTE is not GSM. It is an evolution of UMTS, which is based on CDMA, not GSM.

          • Prox

Again the UMTS is only for Data, Voice is still over GSM.

          • Tim242

There is currently no voice on LTE. When VoLTE launches, that will not be using GSM.

          • Tim242

I have no idea what your point of listing iPhone 5 models is. The only thing I can add to that is that the CDMA iPhone 5 is the global version, instead of the at&t GSM version. However, just like your post, it is not relevant to the subject matter.

  • TrivTheRenegade

I’ve been eyeing this phone since the day it was officially announced. Unfortunately for me, I’m locked in on a VZW contract until 3/26/13, and just recently bought a SGS3.

I’ve been looking into alternative ways to use a phone at full speed once my contract is up. I’ve been considering ditching VZW altogether, selling the SGS3, and getting on a pre-paid plan with an off-contract phone, such as the Nexus 4. The only downside I see to all of this, is that I’m limited in data usage, and am confused by the “unlimited data/2GB data” on the same pre-paid offer.

Can anyone lend any insight or advice?

    • Bob G

Which carrier are you planning to go prepaid with?

      • TrivTheRenegade

T-Mobile seems popular around here. I live in Phoenix, so coverage is decent all around (except Sprint).

        • Jard

Either order SIM card off interwebs, or walk into Wal-Mart and buy $30 T-Mobile phone. Select $30 100 min, unl txt, unl data (fist 5GB up to 4G speeds). Only available at first sign up.Use skype or sipdroid or some VoIP thing when at home. This for me will at the very least help ease the pain of ETF from VZW. Data speeds here in San Diego so far seem pretty comparable to LTE. This so far is using a GS1 for last week whilst I wait for new phone I just ordered.

Unless minutes are a must, then + $40 to add unl min.

          • UnixPimp

100 minutes are useless if you have any intentions of using the phone as a phone, i.e. making voice calls on it.

          • TrivTheRenegade

I see the plan you’re talking about, and that pretty much fits my needs, as I’m very, very rarely on the phone.

Do you know if T-Mo drops you to 3G or 2G speeds after 5GB?

  • Dragonetti Surprise

Still patiently waiting. Is it strange that i keep refreshing my Gmail every 10 seconds on the dot for Google’s confirmation email?

    • Danrarbc

Isn’t Gmail push anyway? Refresh is a waste.

      • Dragonetti Surprise

I’m on my mobile right now. Push here seems too slow for me lol.

Or perhaps I’m being neurotic about finally having a window for me to leave Verizon for good and never, ever come back. Either way, I’m feverishly ready to obtain freedom at last lol.

        • Danrarbc

I left 3 months ago. Couldn’t be happier to have the extra $100 in my pocket every month.

  • http://twitter.com/mikedotdunham mike dunham

Did anyone who ordered already have an update in the wallet transaction that Google has received the order? I ordered an 8gb for the company to use and there is not a status that says they have received the order. Co-worker ordered a 16gb and has a received status update.

    • http://www.facebook.com/archercc Ryan Stewart

I got the “received” status but no updates since.

    • sagisarius

I got it right away, and the hold hit my credit card within half an hour.

  • sagisarius

I finished the ordering process about 4 minutes after they put it up…. and I haven’t heard anything yet. I ordered it with a bumper, so it’s possible that could have slowed it down.

    • http://twitter.com/Mad_Llama Jeremy Gill

Did they give you a break on shipping for ordering the items together?

      • sagisarius

I’m not sure, it doesn’t break it down that way. Shipping was $13.99 for both. Anyone want to chime in with how much it was to ship just the phone?

        • http://twitter.com/Mad_Llama Jeremy Gill

Shipping was $13.99 for just the phone. It was $5.99 for the bumper. I had to use two different cards. Oh well, I was curious how they did it.

  • Prox

I said all along, LG never stopped delivering the amount Google originally ordered. No matter how short sighted Google was at the demand. Once Google realized they grossly underestimated demand they ramped up orders and stop selling until they could meet the initial burst demand.

Typical selling practices when demand is underestimated, taught at almost any MBA school.

The failure was Google underestimating demand from the get go.

    • http://twitter.com/Belatukadro Justtyn Hutcheson

This. When you have much much greater demand than product, you need to stop selling until supply can stabilize. Why they understaimated demand so severely I’ll never understand, but them’s the breaks.

  • http://jordanhotmann.com/ Jordan Hotmann

No email yet, fingers crossed for it shipping much earlier than expected!

  • Booyah

I’m just impressed the Play store doesn’t have the “Sold Out” up yet.

  • http://twitter.com/Mad_Llama Jeremy Gill

Yep, at 6 am this morning EST.

  • http://profiles.google.com/timaaustin Tim Austin

No Email yet, I bought before DL even posted anything about it. Hoping I get the email soon.

  • Greg Morgan

Got mine early this morning. Either they learned their lesson, or demand wasn’t as high.

    • Pedro

I think the signs we saw in the last week indicate that Google figured it out.
Stock into T-Mo stores. Deal with Aussie company. BB gets to sell them. Stock in Play Store.

They and LG figured that it might be a good idea to have actual stock to sell before putting them up for sale.

  • http://twitter.com/Kenny_Larson Kenny Larson

    Nope. Nothing yet.
