There AREN’T better screens available! The highest resolution is 1200p, never less than 17″, on very, very few and expensive machines, and Windows scales terribly on them.

The maxx hd is thinner, yet has a larger battery. You probably couldn’t tell the difference in thickness though.

It’s not a “trade-off” if you get battery life AND thickness at the same time. More like a “win-win” scenario.

Actually it’s because Windows machines tend to be power hogs, running on Intel processors, lasting about only 3-4 hours on a charge. The screen uses up a lot of power, and the way to reduce that is by making it dim and low resolution.

In addition, Windows scales poorly on high resolution displays. Try to use anything more than 1080p and everything is tiny. Nothing scales up. This is why old people say they like low-res displays, even though the resolution should have nothing to do with the scale of the icons and such.

Does anyone really have an option to buy anything else? They buy it because there are no other options. You think OEMs wouldn’t try to compete by putting a higher resolution in their monitor? That’s how they all compete in the mobile industry…they’re being held back by Windows.
