The cool selling point, to me at least, is if you can really play PC games on a portable device, and all without using a TV — similar to the WiiU’s tablet-controller-thing. Otherwise, like you and others have mentioned, in the real world this is competing against smartphones & established consoles.

Especially with the inexpensive OUYA coming out in a few months as well as the Xbox 720 and PS4 near the end of the year. And those consoles I know won’t be around $499.99. At least I hope they won’t be.

If it’s going to cost anything more than my phone did, it better perform better than my phone does – I’m talking near-console quality gaming. Otherwise, it’s a bust. I might as well use my cell phone and attach something like the MOGA controller.

Honestly, I’d love for a more convenient piece of hardware that would let me work on my Steam backlog, so to that end, I’d rather buy this than a PS3 or Vita or something. However, it’s still a lot of money when it really just saves me from hauling out my laptop and Xbox360 controller — if that.

Which is exactly why I’ll stick to my nexus 7 and six axis controller. Or use my phone with a gameklip. All of which combined cost me ~ 400.

I high priced portable system that plays AAA games but doens’t use mouse/keyboard and I can’t upgrade. No thanks. The DS destroys every portable gaming system out there because the games are designed for it. The hardware is used to perfection, and the games are easy to pick up and put down. I’m sorry, but I’m not going to pick this up while sitting in an airport to play a relaxing session of Far Cry 3.

Needs Miracast…does it have it? Screen should be detachable…then again, I’d never buy something like this…I don’t have time to play games on the go and neither does anybody else who has the money to afford this…pretty awesome device though for the few that will own it

There are a few key differences between this and dedicated gaming handhelds like the Vita and the 3DS. The latter have games (well, maybe not the Vita) they can play while away from WiFi, and good, solid games.

This? This is marketed towards people who have a lot of disposable income, ones who have gaming rigs at home with all their Steam games, and people who don’t mind that mobile gaming is more like appetizers rather than entrees.

Even if they priced it at a crazy $299, the market for this is very niche, and it’s very unlikely someone would buy this over a 3DS which has tons of great, offline accessible games if they were in the market for a handheld.

I’m not knocking the product, just saying that this cannot compete with Vita or 3DS. It’s not the same market.
