The ram is really the only thing that keeps this from being considered. 1 gb minimum, but I’m now spoiled with how great multi tasking is with the G Note 2s 2 gb of ram.

After you get your nexus 7 look on craigslist for a used droid x2 or lg g2x and get a Bluetooth mouse your in business. I found a $25 X2 and a Asus transformer with broken screen, one for living room and bedroom.

I’m in love with the body though. I don’t want a smaller car but I don’t want something larger like a Forrester. It’s a pretty thin line but it’s there for me. I’m just hoping they add a turbo option later or for the 2014 model. I can wait.

A Subaru without a turbo is like a Subaru without AWD, in my humble opinion. The Crosstrek XV looks nice enough, but I really don’t know why you’d get one over either a used lifted WRX wagon or hopped up Forrester XT.

For example, this car is at $10k asking price with all the mods:

You’d save ~$13k+ over the Crosstrek but have far, far more power (and better rally looks, imo). Heck, even with a full overhaul/rebuild of most of the major systems you’d still save >$10k.

Totally agree. I drove a wagon as well and it surprises me when I think about it as wagon. I’m pretty excited to test drive the Crosstrek XV though. I fear it may be under-powered.

Well, it might not be the best car to borrow in its current state! It badly needs a clutch and a few other things (coolant lines, refurbish the ps pump; etc.). I have most of the parts, but I just don’t have time to put them in what with my first kid only a month old. It’ll be a monster when I do, though: 2.5L block with 2.0L heads, Vf39 turbo, 3″ exhaust all the way with no cats (no smog in my area, so it’s legit), HIDs/LEDs all around, COBB AP, K&N drop in, Android stereo mod, and some monster tires (General Grabber A/Ts; just add mud for fun).

Subaru makes the best grocery-getter out there. 5 star safety rating, 5 seats, hatch back, 4 cylinder, AWD, but it’ll just beat a stock V8 Mustang off the line and destroy it in the corners, snow, and mud. All for pretty cheap, too. Love Subarus!

I want to be your friend so I can borrow your car. Not just because of the in dash tablet but I love Subaru’s. Had a Legacy awhile back. Died after 260,000 miles. Great car.

I actually did that; makes the car very modern (’05 WRX wagon with an STi engine). Touch screen, Google Music, Pandora, Spotify, YouTube, Netflix, Google Maps Navigation; it really is pretty epic. Get a halfway decent amp off of Amazon and a few wires and you’re in it for about as much as a stock stereo replacement with something not even close to as capable. Best thing I ever did on my car.

Well, maybe not the “best;” hard to argue a stereo is better than a bigger turbo. Let’s just say it’s definitely in the top 5 mods I’ve put on the vehicle.

Inexpensive doesn’t have to equal a bad user experience, 512Mb of RAM will induce a bad experience on a modern Android tablet.

The Nexus 7 has proven that cheap hardware doesn’t have to feel cheap when you use/own/handle it. the 8GB N7 would essentially be at this price point if it were still being sold now.
