Wouldn’t it be awesome if the masses who are passionate about this bought a s**tton of these and sent them into Verizon!

They etch their logo into my home button and take away my headphones. WTH Verizon

People also seem to forget who pays the other 400 some dollars on these subsidized purchases

    • http://www.facebook.com/YouBaxter Chris Baxter

Yah, we do w/ the high monthly rates.

    • Matt

I do with my $700+ after taxes

  • MotoRulz

I bought the protective flip cover made by Samsung that also replaces the back cover that only has Samsung on it and I just ordered these home button covers. I will be Verizon logo free within a matter of a few days..

    • Joe

      I did the same thing!

  • DroidBricker

Nothing says “I get fugged every month on my phone bill” quite like the Verizon logo!

  • KOBALT

FYI…. put it on face down on a piece of scotch tape to lay it down and apply :)

Vzw note 2 rooted (as expected) some early bugs.

Oh and I agree its a stupid idea by Verizon, but it’s there so who cares? Also, people should bring complaining about these stupid home buttons to begin with. Every review I see you guys complain about lack of on screen buttons, let alone physical buttons ,but for note two all you can complain about is a carrier logo on the buttons?

  • http://twitter.com/JayGood259Ozz Kris

I love droid life but get over it. Its not that serious. If droid life made the note 2 it would say kellex on the home button! What do you really expect especially from a phone on all carrier’s?

  • KOBALT

Is it bad that the highlight of my week is having a tip from me posted on the front page?? Either way. I ordered one of these yesterday. Was hoping they would have one in white. I spoke with Spigen and requested one. We’ll see.

  • ericsorensen

Maybe Verizon was making up for all the non-branding of their iPhones? When will Samsung have the clout Apple does?

  • idpay2cthat

It’s amazing this button is a deal killer for some people. Has anyone noticed the SAMSUNG logo, that can’t be removed? It’s LARGER than the Verizon logo, and in a more prominent place. So what it has a tiny little logo of the carrier providing coverage? I’m not in love with Verizon or anything, but they do provide excellent coverage for my needs. I call myself nit-picky, and like someone else posted, I take dealership branding off my car… but this? It’s not like it’s a logo of something completely unrelated to the phone after it’s purchased. Who gives a crap?

    • Nazzi_Muhammad

      It’s a Samsung phone meatball.

  • PC9850

    Thoughts:

    1. The analogy of dealership logos on your door handles is the most spot-on IMO.
    2. The analogy of stickers on your towers and laptops is not a good one. Those are stickers which are easily removed by the consumer, not permanent etchings.
    3. The Razr HD branding, while still somewhat overbearing, looks at least a little better sitting on a non-functional surface. Branding on the master button of the phone though is definitely obnoxious.
    4. People have reason to be miffed about it; it was an undeniably obnoxious move on Verizon’s part that falls right in line with other obnoxious actions and policies by the company.
    5. Just because one isn’t annoyed by any of this, doesn’t give one the right to tell others not to be. Everyone has their own opinions, and if they don’t want to buy the phone because of the home button that’s their prerogative. I would personally seek a solution like the button covers before backing away from the phone altogether, but again, that’s just me.
    6. Since I love Samsung’s official flip cover, I suppose the branding on the back becomes a non-issue for me.
    7. The one thing left I am truly annoyed about on this phone, and it would include other latest phones from Verizon, is the forcing of the Wi-Fi notifications on us. Seriously, disabling the Wi-Fi toggle and also disabling the “Show Notifications” option? That’s a step too far, and I’ll be looking for the inevitable root-related fixes.

  • chris125

Well now for all the whiners out there here you go

  • JMonkeYJ

it’s sad that this has to exist, but if i had the vzw note 2 i would totally get one, so props for the idea.

  • RaptorOO7

When you buy a new windows laptop you get a crap load of stickers on it. Processor (Intel, AMD), Win 7 or Win 8, Nvidia, etc, etc. I hate that crap too I don’t need to advertise or compensate for what I did or did not buy. I am not sponsoring a NASCAR team with my laptop and unless they plan on reducing the price to compensate for their free advertising then they come off.

  • http://twitter.com/Littlehorsie ZombieDroid

Where is the white button replacement? Pretty useless for the people with white note 2s

    • TylerChappell

The silver one would look pretty good on white.

  • Chris King

somebody always got something to sell ya

  • mcdonsco

I stopped into the verizon store the other day to check out the DNA and figured while I was there I would check out the note 2 as well and I have to admit, its perhaps the worst logo placement on a phone in the history of phones. Anywhere else would have been better. I honestly can’t believe verizon did something THAT tacky, its bad and actually looks like a joke (literally).

  • Seth Arrazola

I’d be fine with the button if it just said Verizon on it. Or only had the check mark logo. But to put both on the button was a horrible idea. I’ll be purchasing these when I get my note.

  • Sobr0801

Is this button even necessary, what does it do. Have not owned a Samsung since my OG Epic, and it worked without a button.

  • Diablo81588

Aluminum home button on an all plastic phone… Yeah..

    • Tim242

      The stock button is metal…

  • http://twitter.com/KingIvan Ivan Woods

Really ?? Really ?? I bought the phone yesterday and I can honestly say the logo is NO big deal. If the Verizon logo bother you that much either don’t get the phone or Switch carrier !

    • MooleyBooleyTroll

It is OK to buy a device and still think something on it is hideous ;)

  • kixofmyg0t

I better see the Note 2 dinged because of the text under the dock icons, you did it to the RAZR HD…..

    • Diablo81588

I know right? The complaining about the home button takes up most of their time.

    • KleenDroid

Not many people had interest in the Razr HD by comparison. This button has the Verizon logo on it but it is very easily fixed. Now if Google starts selling all the Moto phones directly for a lower price and unlocked they would become very relevant again.

  • Detonation

The amount of whining and complaining about Verizon branding here is sickening. It’s just a logo on an electronic device for christ’s sake. Get over it, no one is going to be judging you for logos on a phone. Go back to complaining about locked bootloaders and other things the vast majority of smart phone customers know and care nothing about,,,

    • http://twitter.com/adrynalyne Adrynalyne

While I think that they would have made a bigger statement by not buying it, you cannot tell someone to get over it just because it doesn’t bother you. That is as silly as branding a button.

      • Detonation

I understand people are entitled to their opinion, but not buying a phone purely because of a logo on it is what’s silly.

        • http://twitter.com/starnovsky Stan Tarnovsky

I agree. I’d would buy this phone anyway if I wanted it. However, that logo incident is just showing once again that Verizon has no class and how it’s treating customers.

    • http://twitter.com/starnovsky Stan Tarnovsky

No, it’s not just a logo. It’s an ugly reseller’s logo badly engraved into otherwise nice looking product.

  • cole hartman

Don’t even need it loving my T-Mobile Note II :-)

  • Ibrick

After all the complaining about the damn home button, now people are really whining about $10? Especially after spending $299 or $750?

Everything from SGP is expensive, but top quality. Spend $10 and ‘fix’ your home button or leave it as is, but now there’s no reason to spam every thread with the same bitching.

Yes, I know, ‘But, but.. we shouldn’t HAVE to spend $10 in the first place’.. it is what it is, now you have an option.

    • Wise_Spinner

      > now people are really whining about $10?

Maybe YOU enjoy spending $10 for something that could easily be 50 cents worth of plastic. For something that shouldn’t need to be purchased even if they were $0.

      • MooleyBooleyTroll

Then cut out a piece of electrical tape and cover the button.

    • FknTwizted

chit looks way pimp then the cheesy crap stickers they are pumping out on eBay for $3 less! ORDERED! (gonna take the other 2 and slap them on Verizon demo phones! viva revolution!)

  • http://twitter.com/bigtexatx Bigtex ATX

That dumbass button had me buy the DNA instead.

    • gokusimpson

Can we use these stickers to make the DNA power button stand out?

    • Jeremy Nelson

You bought an inferior product over a LOGO that can be FIXED?

  • http://www.getintonursing.com/ Jon

I actually wouldn’t mind buying one of these for my GS3. I’ve always felt like it’s home button doesn’t stick out enough, requiring just a little too much force and effort to make it comfortable to use given the near effortless touch to make the back and menu buttons next to it work.

I’ve gotten used to it over time, but I almost wish that samsung would have cleverly devised a home button that is a both a physical button to wake the phone, but with a capacative touch face so once the phone is awake, it requires but the lightest of touches to engage just like the other capacitive buttons next to it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/objection89 Miguel Angel Portela

I never thought of that. I may check this out too.

  • Plerisei

lol, too hilarious. If the Verizon home button is that much of a problem, some serious issues.

first world problems my friend haha

    • http://twitter.com/kejar31 Justin Rogers

      This is what I ordered

      • RaptorOO7

There must be a market for them if they are selling. Post what they are like when you get them. I don’t want something that peels or wears off too easily.

  • Mustang5Oh

I don’t get why people are so mad at the VzW branding on the button. The Razr has the same thing on the bottom under where the softkeys are. Just as bad IMO yet no one cares about that.

    • kg215

They are both bad, but it is more prominent/ridiculous on the button.

      • Tim242

NO it is not. It is tiny, and I never notice it. It is much better than a logo stretched across the whole phone.

    • jak_341

No one cares about the Razr. That is why.

      • Diablo81588

        Moron.

    • Dr_Buttballs

Actually plenty of people cared at the time of release. I saw nothing but complaints over the placement of the Verizon logo when it was first revealed. No one talks about it now because it isn’t the “hot phone to have” anymore.

    • Mark Mann

i own the razr…it has a verizon logo on the front?

  • http://twitter.com/bjornwallman Bjorn Wallman

    How bloody embarrassing for Verizon…

  • Cgmartin33

I like the VZDub home button. It tells people that I have the best reception available, good credit, and um…money to burn, I like bloatware, locked bootloaders, forced into plans that I don’t want…it basically tells people that I’m high class but I like to get bent over with no lube…no homo ;)

    • http://www.facebook.com/nshawn43 Shawn Pourhosseini

but thats why people buy iphones… to pretend they are “classy”

      • laffingrass

I know, right? Nobody ever really likes the iPhone, they just want to look cool.

Everyone has the same tastes as you do, they just haven’t figured it out yet!

      • http://twitter.com/starnovsky Stan Tarnovsky

There is nothing classy about iPhone, it’s a common denominator, everybody has it and they all the same

  • Robin Williamson

I just ditched Verizon and switched to T-Mobile.

    • ManBearPig618

I did the exact same thing. I was already 95% on leaving VZW, and this just pushed me over the edge.

      • aaron

because 96% is over the edge

        • ManBearPig618

Yes, troll, the idea of a VZW logo on my home button was extra motivation to actually leave Verizon.

          • Tim242

            That makes you an idiot.

          • ManBearPig618

I wanted to switch carriers because VZW is killing grandfathered unlimited and T-Mobile is significantly cheaper. Additionally, I wanted a Note 2 and didn’t want to stare at an ass ugly VZW logo on the home button for 2 years. How am I an idiot?

          • http://twitter.com/ISO1600 Eric Lamont

You’re not. It just makes some people feel better about themselves to belittle others, even though they secretly feel the same way.

      • Aaron

Because 96% is over the edge

      • vettedude95

A 16mm sticker pushed you over the edge? WOW

    • laffingrass

Well, that’s going to end up sucking.

    • http://techonblogger.ward.pro/ Stynkfysh

I did that too. HSPA+ is 10-11Mbps down and 3Mbps up pretty consistently in my area (San Diego). Its not LTE, but its not really noticeable except when downloading huge files. Another point of note, VOIP apps like Talkatone actually work better on T-Mobile’s network. I’m not sure why that is, but it is in my testing.

      • http://www.facebook.com/objection89 Miguel Angel Portela

I ditched a few months ago. Its pretty good! I love HSPA+. I do miss the Droid line but at the same time, I don’t miss paying $118 a month…per line.

        • ManBearPig618

Amen. I live in the LA area, and actually get 13-17 down on the HSPA+ so I’m fine with that. I’m actually really impressed with their coverage so far.

  • Trueblue711

For those complaining about the price, it’s not that bad given that the market for these is relatively small.

    • KleenDroid

I agree and also made a comment about this. They are doing people a favor by wasting their time making them since as a business they will not really make that much money on them.

Even if they sold a few hundred sets of them it’s still hardly worth the time.

  • roberthenderson

I would just about guarantee that button covers will be had for a dollar or two on eBay very soon.

    • Gegedaddy

The free market works ..and yes because it does you will be able to buy one for a couple of bucks within days.

    • http://TransientTangent.com/ Blake Mitchell

While they don’t look like these, they have been on ebay for over a week now.

  • ericsorensen

It’s funny how the Amazon product page says nothing about the REAL purpose for this button cover.

    • RaptorOO7

I also noticed that Amazon.com says the list price is $11.99 but they are selling it for $9.99 saving you $2 or 17% which is total BS.

  • TheFirstUniverseKing

    $9.99? How about $2.99, Spigen?

    • roberthenderson

Isn’t that the frame around the home button?

    • CaptainHowdy13

Did you expect it to be flush with the button? It goes on top of it. If you don’t want the logo or the bulk use a sticker from an apple or something…

    • Ibrick

      Looks pretty good actually!

    • http://twitter.com/davidbavin David Bavin

It does cover the whole button. The white edge is part of the sticker.

  • falafel

9.99? one joke on top of another

    • termiNader

But it’s diamond cut, 100% real aluminum!

    • kg215

Lol yea selling one for 3 or 4 dollars would be reasonable, they are definitely trying to get in on Verizon’s lets rip off consumers as much as possible by trying to make ppl pay 10 dollars for a little button cover. People can get stickers instead…

      • KleenDroid

I don’t really think so. Their market for this product is very small. Compared to the amount of these phones that will sell very few people will actually even hear of these and then very few of them will buy it. So to waste their time and even have these things made they have to charge something for them.

When it’s all said and done lets say they make 400 bucks profit from selling them. So from a business standpoint it is hardly even worth messing around with making these. They will not make much money.

In fact they are doing a favor for those that want something like this.

For a business $400 bucks isn’t really wasting much time over.

      • http://twitter.com/MBP11luvr75 Richie Rich

Its a pack of 3 for $10 and you get all 3 colors. I would like the silver one and i have the AT&T variant of the Note II which doesn’t have any logo on it’s home button.

        • Mark Mann

i’m going to like your comment simply because you like them because you like them, not because you want them to cover something that is supposedly unsightly

    • michael arazan

Should make them out of gold, silver, and platinum, I’m sure King James home button is

    • MooleyBooleyTroll

Amazing people will spend close to $10 on a pack of cigarettes in which they smoke in less than a day but $9.99 is too much for a button cover that will last months/years.

      • http://www.facebook.com/objection89 Miguel Angel Portela

Something more relatable may have been coffee at Starbucks but I see where you’re coming from.

      • JoshGroff

I wouldn’t buy a home button sticker simply because I’d rather just paint over it with model paint.

    • http://www.facebook.com/joseph.a.yager Joseph A. Yager

It costs money to create brand new products like this. They probably wouldn’t mind making a little bit when people purchase them, either.

  • Nazzi_Muhammad

    HeHe… butt-fucked by Verizon again….

  • JustTrollin69

I never thought it would come to this, a market for a tiny home button. Thank you Verizon.

    • http://twitter.com/Xeneize480 Xeneize480

I got a new car for $75k and I hate their stupid BMW logo. Damn you
      bmw!!!

      • TheOiulkj

Too bad that is totally irrelevant because Verizon doesn’t make phones. Manufacture logos are actually incorporated into the design, instead of just slapped on randomly like a 12 year old gone crazy with pack of dinosaur stickers.

I bet you’d be pissed if there was a Texaco decal pasted crudely on your door handles.

        • laffingrass

Most PCs are branded with Windows/Intel stickers, do you have the same feelings about all of those as well?

          • http://twitter.com/TheNintendo64 Drew

But that’s on the tower. I don’t know about you, but the only time I look at my tower is when I turn it off or on. This home button is visible at all times, because it’s right next to the screen. Not only that, but it looks awkward and out of place.

          • Jeff

            It’s on notebooks too.

          • TheDrunkenClam

What makes it so bad is that a button has functionality. When I press the “W” key on my computer’s keyboard, I know it’s going to type the letter W. Imagine how much worse it’d be if pressing that Verizon button took you to a “get it now” app. Knowing Verizon, they probably pitched that idea to Samsung.

          • justincase_2008

And those stickers wait for it can be taken off with out issue.

          • http://twitter.com/kirilv Kiril

First thing I do is peel all the stickers off of a new PC. I would be perfectly fine if Verizon wanted to put easily removable stickers on my phone.

          • Sobr0801

I always took them off. Also if I bought a certain product I put in side my PC, I put the sticker on voluntarily. Fortunately, ATT left the back of my Lumia alone, and it looks beautiful. The front only has a minor ATT logo.

          • HerbieDerb

Yeah, but you have a Lumia

          • JDub

Your analogy is still incorrect. Some of the phones do have powered by google or a google logo on the back. Now if a service provider shoved a sticker on my monitor it would be the same, but they dont.

          • Obviousman

            Yes. I remove them immediately.

          • KOBALT

If you don’t build your own PC, then you deserve it.

          • http://www.deathbycone.com Jared Kotoff

I put those stickers on my custom built pc. Intel i7 and Nvidia are status symbols… The Windows one is a bit redundant though.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000155987673 Austin Mutschler

No but if the thing I look at (The Monitor) had a sticker on the screen, I wouldn’t buy it. The main point is Verizon doesn’t know how to think.

          • vezquex

Ah, but are there Windows/Intel stickers on the buttons? No.

        • http://www.facebook.com/objection89 Miguel Angel Portela

Reminds me of those custom roms with the excessive amount of self-referential crap on XDA. Wicked Series is a good example of this The boot animation is WICKED, the carrier logo says WICKED, the wallpapers are crudely WICKED, the bootup sound is WICKED. Jesus…

          • asianrage

At least you have the option to remove those things.

          • FortitudineVincimus

Yep, and it is awesome. Just awesome. People can now stick it back at VZW (no pun intended).. I hope they get wind of this and realize they got out smarted.

          • nightscout13

Why do people say “no pun intended”, when they genuinely intend a pun? I don’t get it…..

        • 4n1m4L

I’m pretty sure Verizon has a contract with a manufacturer. If you do these things for us we will offer your device on our network

          • KOBALT

That’s obviously how it worked on the other carriers that have the same phone 0.o

          • 4n1m4L

GSM is an open source communication standard. You can make a GSM phone and it will work pretty much anywhere in the world you have cell service. CDMA is completely different. CDMA is proprietary. So despite the block 4 rules that say any device capable of operating on Verizon’s fresh bought spectrum, there is no phone that operates solely on Verizon’s LTE yet. Voice still goes over 1x still for the most part. AT&T and T-Mobile have the luxury of selling the phones that the rest of the world sells. Verizon’s phones have to be specially made. Even radio updates on googles nexus that operates on Verizon’s network have to be approved. And they are not the same phone

      • reyalP

The way I look at it I’m not paid to advertise by the company who sold me the product. A BMW is a brand and you are buying the brand. But a huge dealership sticker is not a brand. When I buy a car I remove all the dealership stickers, plates, plate trim and so on. I’m not being paid to advertise for a dealership. Some dealerships will even go as so far to punch holes in the body of the car to make it harder to remove their plastic riveted advertsiement.
A phone is the same way to me. I’m not paid to advertise for Verizon and they give me no discount on my monthly bill for it. Therefore, I do not feel I should have to wear their advertisements all over my phone.

Verizon has really cheapened the look of the Note 2 by increasing the size of the back logo and putting another logo on the home button. When you compare it with another carriers Note 2 the Verizon branded one just looks cheaper and of lesser quality.

        • KOBALT

But where can I get a BMW logo for my Note2???

        • Kevin Swaney

The way I look at it is I don’t mind people seeing that logo and realizing I have the most balling service available on the most balling phone out right now, especially others with the same phone on another carrier.

So cell phone providers indicate baller status now?

          • Kevin Swaney

True story…..Oh I left out “Shot Callin” too. So actually I am “Ballin Shot Callin” while I hold this Note 2 in my hand connected to the nation’s largest 4G LTE network.

            lol stupid but, funny!

        • FknTwizted

nice thing is at least it is on other carriers so I can buy a back that just says samsung or nothing at all!

So passionate about a little logo on a button, Did the logo effect the phones performance or something? I’d be mad to if that’s the case.

That analogy is f__ing terrible. A more accurate one would be those awful license plate covers. “I GOT MY CAR AT RICK CASE HONDA – FT LAUDERDALE!”

          But one that’s not removeable.

No, that’d be like “Dick Johnson BMW” painted on your new car. Not the manuf.
I think the point of being upset here is that on AT&T, T-Mo, Sprint and international GS Note2 phones the button has no logo. Verizon only decided to do extra branding here.

Not, it’s not a BMW logo, it’s a dealership logo. Would you like to have a dealership logo larger than your BMW bage?

        • KOBALT

Some have it bigger than the OEM logo.

      • SKAV3NG3R

BTW you CAN put a custom hood ornament on your car.

        BTW, this isn’t bmwlife!

      • mohamed yosef

        Fully agree with you

It’s funny that this even needs to be a product someone is selling.

    • Mark Mann

it doesnt need to be sold, people WANT it to be sold…because people’s lives are so perfect that the worse thing to happen to happen to them is a verizon logo on their phone

        First world problems ftw!!
