If I am not mistaken (and I may be), you would need access to the source-code of the app to change the API level.

You sound like you may know. I tried to post on XDA but that damn post count. Completely irrelevant but I have a launcher app from Japan that’s great but it only works on Gingerbread. It installs on ics but doesn’t work. I heard I have to change the Api level in the app. Would you happen to know how to do that? Again, totally irrelevant, I know.

I was about to say good riddance but I almost spoke too soon. I didn’t know there was such a strong following nor did I realize that this was a halfway decent OS. The only positive thing I ever heard about the HP touchpad was it’s ability to port it over to Android. If this is as good as some of you claim, I wouldn’t mind giving it a whirl in my Gnex for a spin.

Yeah, unfortunately. It would be great if there could be a compatibility layer so that it would be able to run native Android apps (and without a big performance hit, while we’re in dream land )

Excuse my naivety, but what good is it on a Gnex with fewer apps than a Windows phone, other than to show off to geek friends? Makes more sense to port it to a MS slate tablet when they show up

If a device is supported in AOSP (Code/drivers) it can easily be included in any AOSP-based ROM, with very little extra work.

Most AOSP-based ROM’s are compatible with all Nexus devices as well as many OEM devices. I highly doubt multiple AOSP devices will “fragment” AOSP dev-support.

This is cool and all, but with application support being as close to zero as you can possibly get, this will never be a useful daily driver. At best, it will be something you can show off to your geek friends for a period of 3-4 minutes at a time.

Any Nexus device will have & has had awesome support. They are the easiest devices to develop for.
