That is correct Manny. Roms and kernels can make a good phone a great phonefor those that want to do it. And as he ssaid... ROMs can keep a phone up to date long after the manufacturer stops supporting the phone. "Which is about a year or less"

Developers are still keeping the Droid 1 up to date. There is a Jellybean ROM for the Droid 1.......

Of course the manufacturers would prefer you don't keep your phone up to date because you will go get a new phone sooner.

Yes it is now on Verizon, and please excuse that condescending comment. You should not have to explain the fact of why you were uninformed about the issue. In a friendly online community, you would hope that it's rise above belittling other users when they seek answers, and instead you would hope that they gladly answer them in a welcoming manner. This seems too much to ask of this site sometimes, let's change that.

Sorry to hear that, it's always a kick in the rear when a price reduction happens that close to a purchase. I doubt they have any guarantee where you purchased the phone, but maybe it couldn't hurt to ask for the price difference from them. Even if you get told "No.", at least you can be content knowing you at least tried. I feel your pain and am very sorry to hear that.

Are you telling me that the Galaxy S3 comes in sizes? Does it also have the other iPhone selling model facet, of not having a removable battery? That is truly sad to me that they have "versions" of this phone, and not simply just one that the user is free to adjust the storage size to their choosing, such as picking up a 32GB or 64GB SD card, and swap them out at the user's leisure :(. Did the former Galaxy S, and S2 also not have this user choice and freedom? I think the Galaxy line of phones is truly brilliant, including the Nexus. But it saddens me every time I see another top tier new smart phone that releases, that ditches user choice, which was always a hallmark of Android as opposed to Apple, and instead adopts the iPhone selling model.

While it's true that the basic core system of the Android architecture allows and encourages a gigantic sense of freedom, independence, resourcefullness and exploration for the Android user. Well, it will always be distressing to me to see my very favorite smart phone brand, lose any sense of that freedom and user choice, regardless of whether it's the carriers or Google themselves perpetrating it, and usually only doing so for the sole sake of monetary gain to be had by eliminating user choices. With the pattern that I see here and the apparent Android user apathy. Well, maybe I'm correct in my fears that my HTC Rezound might have truly been the last top tiered Android smart phone, that still offered a removable and replaceable storage and battery. Wow, that is just a sad day for Android indeed if that is the case, and or if it turns out I'm correct. I'd be than happy to be wrong in this instance.
