I checked with Verizon, and yes you are correct. Even better, I can use another account to upgrade and then activate it with my own number and keep my unlimited data!

I got some great news from Verizon: I’m the only one on my family plan with a smartphone, so I was able to use another account to upgrade to the SGS3, and then they said I can activate the phone using my own number and still keep my unlimited plan. I’m not sure if this helps people with multiple smartphones on their accounts, or individual accounts, but it works out great for people with only one smartphone on a family account!

go with Razor’s Jelly (currently v2.5) if you are looking for as close to stock as you can get now. That is until code drops

He has stated that he will keep the ROM stock JB, only mods that are needed for stability.

I had some strange issues with Vicious V2 and now I am much happier with Vanirbean V7. Vicious V2 definitely had issues with the GPS locking and a noticeable lag on certain things like screen touches, opening apps, scores showing up very slowly/stuttering in some games – just some general processing delays. I always do a clean install so not sure what it was. Maybe V3 fixed some of those issues for good, but I can vouch for Vanirbean V7 as well. For those of you that didn’t already know this, Lux did have some issues with JB which have apparently been fixed. It prevented me from answering calls, etc. I tried it again this morning and it still prevented me from answering calls. Weird. Love Lux in general though.

Sadly, I will probably never get to experience it on my Droid Charge. I’ll probably have to wait until I can afford a new phone w/o the upgrade pricing so that I can retain my unlimited data.

My guess is that the ICS stats went up significantly when the Razr/Razr Maxx OTA update finally rolled out. That got my wife’s phone on ICS. But I just went from AOKP M5 to Vicious JB V3 on my Verizon Gnex

Before having voted in the poll, it said I had already voted for Gingerbread. So I went back to the main Droid Life page to see if I could vote from there, and it said I had already voted for ICS. I then clicked on the comments link to get back into the post, and it said that I hadn’t yet voted. So I voted for Jelly Bean, the OS I am running.

This happens to me pretty regularly with the polls. I’m using Chrome on a MBA running Lion.

I have to agree, this is truly the apex of mobile phone development. Anything from here is just icing. 4.1 is the first os I didn’t feel silly running stock. Almost all the optimizations that amateur devs had to put into previous android versions are rendered irrelevant by the speed and fluidity of jelly bean.
