AT&T and Verizon opted out. My God, I wish US Cell carriers weren’t such pigs. Evil, greedy bastards that nickle-and-dime their customers, sitting back squeezing the bandwidth sponge every once in a while. I wish some brilliant new competitor would crash in and flip the whole US cell phone market on its head.

Verizon has their own “Backup Plus” service that they sell to people who are too stupid to install google drive on their own.

I doubt it is anything official, but it is undeniable that whatever one does, the other quickly follows.

For instance, now that Verizon is getting rid of grandfathered unlimited data if you buy a subsidized phone from them expect at&t to follow suit soon. Probably after the next iPhone, but potentially before.

It’s a huge disappointment, however, I have 64 gigs setting right here next to me in a Pogoplug that works just great for uploading/download to the phone while I am away. I’m a Dropbox whore but the Pogo will work just fine when my 10gb Dropbox is full.

Yeah, they’re so worried about bandwidth usage that Verizon rolled out an app showcasing all of the video you can stream on you 4G LTE device. If anything, Verizon and AT&T want you using more data so that they can force you to a higher tier and get more money out of you. I’m not sure the politics behind this move, but I’m guessing it has to do with money. We don’t know the full details of how Samsung and Dropbox have been able to offer this to SGSIII customers, so they may be asking for the carriers to kick in a bit of dough to make the deal possible.

I’m still curious as to how what VZW and AT&T are doing in regards to Google Wallet isn’t considered anti-competitive (which would make it illegal.) Doesn’t blocking access to a product while developing a competing product fall under anti-trust law?

I already have the data backed up on an external hard-drive. My setup was –
1. backup from cell to dropbox.
2. backup from dropbox to laptop/external hard-drive.
No wires involved.

Now, to back it up, I have to connect the usb cable and browse & copy the files manually. And there’s no ‘sync’ per se between android and pc. Let me know if there is.
