Appextractor restores from a rom backup. You could make a backup of your current setup before flashing anything (advisable). Most roms will auto restore all your regular market apps. Titanium Backup is another option if you already own it and are used to it. I just got hooked on appextractor since I can extract from any of my many rom backups. Let me know if you flash a rom and what you think after giving it a try.

There are so many roms you can try and decide what is the best for you. And we have not even got into any Kernel discussions. For now just go with whatever are in the roms since they are pretty good and give good battery life. P.S. Theory is sick or something and his link in Patient Zero is dead. But you can find that file in the above rombot…

Looks like 4.0.4 might be the last version, but hell, if it’s near perfect and incredible, then I could live with that. Besides, might switch to another ROM eventually anyhow.

…or save $40-$50 per months by using a Google Galaxy Nexus on an Att or Tmo prepaid network. Att StraighTalk coverage is excellent in my area and I am paying $40 less than I was on Verizon…and I get my updates straight from google, no rooting necessary

Wow, that is just truly incredible! Would have never known this fact if it wasn’t for Droid-Life, and who knows how many more months my Galaxy would have gone without a custom ROM on it. Poor Nexus, missing out on all the great things in life, like new clothes. Ouch!

And good to know about Droid Theory’s ROM. Will check it out.

Also, when you mention using Appextractor to restore all apps/sms from a ROM, are you talking about Backup Titanium? Or if I had a ROM previously installed and backed up everything, then in the next ROM, I could use Appextractor to restore everything? Can you use this app on Stock Android 4.0.2? So for instance, when I install a ROM, I could use the app to restore everything?

And damn, 100 ROMs you say? That’s quite a bit! haha, awesome!

He’s right though. The Nexus is a dream come true when it comes to ease of installing ROMs.

I might not be an idiot for not knowing that the “virtual sd card” will remain untouched when installing ROMs, but I am sure an idiot for not taking advantage and installing many different ROMs the last several months. I did miss out on that. All this time, I’ve been stuck with Android 4.0.2, and here I could have been enjoying life on the fast lane experimenting with the latest and greatest ROMs the Android Community has to offer.

But hey, ’tis life..and like the old sayings goes, “It’s never too late…” and “Better late than never.”.

No need to dump Verizon. You just need to root phone and get updates yourself from XDA. Its REALLY easy and MUCH quicker.

Same here. I am on Liquid 1.4 (4.0.4) with FC04/FC05 radios. The radios work great. LeanKernel. Phone is blazing. Almost twice as fast as it was when I got it stock.

Lol…I spoke with a verizon rep today that said the OTA started rolling out today in batches depending on where you live would dictate to when you receive the update.
