I wasted 2 hrs. at Verizon yesterday and I still didn't even make it to the counter. But there was one Rep that walked around and ask me what I was planning to do today. He told me if I upgrade to the new iPhone I would automatically be switch to the new "Shared Plan".

So after I left I went home and looked at Verizon's website for there new "shared Plan". Has anyone else seen the prices they going to dump on you. If you have a smart phone you will now pay $40 per month instead of the $30. If you have a basic phone you will have to pay $30 per month instead of $9.99. On top of having to pay for each phone then you have to pay monthly for the "Shared Plan" starting at $50 for 1GB shared, $60 2GB, $70 4GB, $80 6GB, $90 8GB and $100 10GB.

Verizon claims this will be cheaper for the customer but that is a total lie. It is projected that if every Verizon customer was to stay and be switched to the new "Shared Plan" Verizon would make billions more per month in profit. So if Verizon is going to make billions how is the customer going to save. I plan to leave verizon when the time comes.

Yeah, but if you are paying for data allocation, you should just be paying for the data, regardless of how you use it. It turns out, on the new plans, tether _IS_ included. Go figure. Still _do not want_.

To activate a 2nd line with a separate number unlimited? I don't think that's possible. They'd probably insist it needs to be on a tiered plan (probably if it's just data. I think that's what they do with their tablets). My sister had a Droid X and she made a bet with my niece that if she got straight A's she'd give her the Droid. She got Straight A's and my sister honored the wager. When she told Verizon and they wouldn't let my niece have unlimited, she ended up on tiered (they should have just exchanged phone numbers... heh)

When they announced that plan, I was relieved, I typically buy 3-4 phones a year off contract to "upgrade" and sell the old ones. Might just activate a secondary line (with just unlimited data, is that possible?) If not, I'll just ETF and activate off contract.

I didn't think I would use more than 2-3gb a month, last month, I went over 5gb. I was surprised that I did because I normally don't. I recently upgraded to a 4g phone and I've gotten that taste of speed and free to do more. To Verizon's credit, I don't think any other carrier covers as much area they do or is expanding 4g as quickly. Since they revised their plan to say that if I bought my next phone at full price and bought it to them I could keep unlimited, I might stay. It will be a while until I have to renew, maybe they'll change their minds by then. :)

I am currently on a 3g unlimited data plan with a 2 year upgrade date in july....please correct me if I am wrong, but I should probably:

1. upgrade to a 4g lte phone prior to verizon's switch to the new shared data plan, thereby keeping my unlimited data
2. if they announce that the shared data plan is going to go in effect prior to my 2 year upgrade date, pay $30 early upgrade fee and lose my $30 customer loyalty discount. but in this case, i can keep my unlimited data

thanks..
