Called tech support – got them to cancel the Backup Asst Plus. She seemed quite knowledgeable until she said she had never heard of this problem before. I suggested she search for vzwnmn and would find dozens of web sites mad about the issue. A few minutes after she said I would get no more I got another one. Remembering from last Feb, I replied to the annoying text with “Stop” and sent it. I have had no more since then.

Verizon’s changed their terrible website, but I managed to fix the problem by going to verizon’s website, going to my device -> backup assistant, and then removing all the accounts from it.

You must be the Account Owner to do these things, by the way. Verizon’s page will look totally different if you are not, and those instructions won’t apply.

Thanks for the assistance. I was wondering why I wasn’t getting my aol emails anymore and now I know. How inconvenient…but your advice helped. Thanks again, and tisk tisk to Verizon for making things difficult when they don’t need to be.

i deleted my yahoo account and re-added it using the below fix. get my notifications but still get the annoying vzw texts

Thank you for this fix- I also lost my aol account after discontinuing backup asst. in the myverizon site, after clearing data and re-doing my aol account, it is up & running again. Just rediculous that verizon could create such a hassle for it’s customers!

So disappointing that Verizon does not view posts such as these and disseminate the information to their stores. I had to inform store reps on Friday about the text message issue, then on Saturday went into another store and, after explaining the first issue about the text messages, had them tell me that the Yahoo email issue was because of my company’s security settings!

After fixing the bogus text msgs problem and then my email accts stopped loading, this was the BEST advice & fix so far! So MUCH BETTER than my frustrating experience at the Verizon Store. Thanks so much.

Thank you! I happened to be near a Verizon store so they helped me get rid of the backup assistant text messages and related nonsense, but after I left the store, all of a sudden I stopped getting my aol email and couldn’t figure it out. You saved me a trip back to a Verizon store, or worse, a phone call to customer service!

It comes from the factory unlocked, has a beautiful screen, wonderful keyboard, 4G LTE, and I can get two full days use out of one charge. Why wouldn’t I buy it?
