I had some assistant app that I installed that would do the same thing so check the app settings. I didn’t want to keep it anyways so I just uninstalled it and it fixed the problem.

fwiw, i’ve downloaded 674 apps, not including their updates.  i’ve saved all the .apk’s to my PC in case i need them later.  saves on data and makes browsing easier.
