I love my Xoom, but I would still get one of the newer thinner models if I hadn't gotten my Xoom when the wifi version came out. The newer ones are lighter and zippier in my opinion. It's still good for e-books and entertainment on a plane. But overall its simply a toy. I've yet to find a practical professional use for it.
If devs could develop more apps for the medical field, I think it would be perfect for doing patient assessments, documenting med distributions, and overall charting. Someone needs to jump on that before Apple does and takes over with their tablets.

The Xoom can read and write to the SD card now. No need to Root or anything. Just download SDCardXD from the Market. That takes care of that. Yes, it was not present at release, but it is there now.
The ICS Alpha version made available at XDA allows for full use of the SD card and grants full USB Host capabilities without rooting. That means we are getting all of that from the stock version as soon as the OTA update is provided by Googlerola.

I think most people just remember all the bad stuff and drama around it.. no SD, send in for 4G etc.. I don't have one but I'd totally still get a Xoom at this point, if the price was right.

I definitely don't think the XOOM sucks. I have it and the Gtab 10.1 with verizon. The battery gets chewed up too quick on the Gtab, so when I am at home on the wifi I just use the XOOM. It is a long story on why I have 2 tablets, and I would prefer not having to spend that money, but it is what it is...

This is awesome to see. I'll probably wait for the official Goog update, but it's good to know that the community is demonstrating how easy a port this should be.

I'm really liking ICS on my Nexus, and want my Xoom to match! It is a bit painful to go back to a relatively low PPI screen. When they have quad core tablets running 300 PPI, I'll know it's time for an upgrade.

Actually, ICS is built so that it has all the features of tablet and phone (and eventually Google TV) built in - so if you are running a tablet, you get tablet-optimized features, if you run a phone, you get phone-optimized features, but they all share a common codebase and common unifying UI-structure, making it a cohesive OS for multiple types of devices.
