: At the end of the day these are 2 huge companies. There has to be compromises on both ends and sacrifices on each side. The long term winner here is Google. And they know that. To give up a little here and now, is at little cost when it comes to the big picture.

Both sides gave up things they wouldn't normally. At the end, they both win. At the VERY end, Google wins. :)

XDA has already ported google wallet to all non-sprint branded Nexus S devices and also to the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus, that's how I know what is required. The rest of the world doesn't use ISIS yet, they rest of the world has there own formats that are being included in ISIS when it launches, but there still is no reason in the world that if our phones are capable of using google wallet that they wouldn't be allowed to. It's our phone it's our choice, we should be allowed to use google wallet or what ever other payment service we want till something else entices us like ISIS when it launches.

Its not just VZW not wanting Google Wallet to succeed, it is everyone in the world. The only carrier anywhere using Google Wallet is Sprint. Elsewhere in the world they use ISIS. So does this mean that the whole world is against Google Wallet?? Maybe you should start an anti-trust suit against the world. As for the ports of Google Wallet, how do you know? There is only one phone that can do NFC payments and that is the Nexus S. That is only one phone and only got that support in 2.3.7. That does not mean that Google designed the new Nexus to need a custom rom in order to use Google Wallet. That would be very dumb of them. The app should be easily sideloaded onto the Nexus. Now if you are talking other phones, that is different but still unknown since no other phones have NFC yet.

You realize it isn't that simple right?? Every port of google wallet so far needs "System" files that aren't included in the factory ROM, it requires you to flash a custom recovery and have these files added your system before you can even use the app. This is not considered side loading and can't be done WITHOUT root.
You are right about the android market permissions but those permissions are provided from the carrier to google so if AT&T or VZW or any other carrierd doesn't want an app available on there phones they can block them from getting it on the market. Unlocked phones are supposed to be the exception but for what ever reason thats not the case here.

We are getting screwed because we have a phone that launchs in just a few days that has the technology inside to do mobile payment services on day 1 but because VZW doesn't want Google Wallet to succeed we have to wait till Q2 of 2012 before they even start to trial ISIS, more than likely it will be 2013 before the VZW Galaxy Nexus will be able to do mobile payments out of the box. To me that is clearly anti-competitive.

I'm surprised, like you said the Nexus S 4G on Sprint is the only one to have it at the moment. Maybe later Google will get Wallet out to more devices and we just might see a fight to get it on this phone. But I'm not counting on it to happen anytime soon.

Am I incorrect in saying you could just download the APK somewhere and use it? I am not very educated on what exactly they are blocking and how it is being blocked? But this seems like a pretty easy get around as they clearly aren't blocking NFC payment system all together as theirs will still work. Anyone know?

What does a screen shot of AT&T blocking the app have anything to do with VZW? Have you heard of sideloading? This is what android can do even without root. And, it could be blocked because the phone has yet to be released on AT&T. Someone just bought an unlocked phone and put it on a network that does not yet have it in the system which doesn't mean that it is currently blocked, just not supported yet. Also, how are they screwing consumers? Google Wallet has not yet taken off. How do you know that ISIS won't take off faster?

I would be okay with this, if regulations stated that carriers had to support any compatible devices on their networks and that they couldn't enter into contracts with their OEM's forbidding them from releasing retail phones to public directly. Then Samsung could sell us a pure LTE nexus device outside of our contract for a market driven retail price.
