Samsung Thinks Apple’s Lines of People Waiting for the Next iPhone are so Silly

YouTube Preview Image

What’s the best way to get the mobile world fired up before heading into the most important holiday shopping weekend of the year? Put out an ad that takes left and right hooks at Apple and their fanbase that is willing to wait in line for weeks, days, or hours to get the latest iPhone. Well played, Samsung.

Cheers to everyone who sent this!

  • Dominick DeVito

“4G” speeds? Not quite. Too bad Big Red passed up on the GSII.

  • Anonymous

Absolutely assume!  I hope they play that for real, I own the RAZR, but anytime you can shoot an apple of the tree, its great!

  • Anonymous

I agree to almost everything you said, except the “better UI, better touchscreen” part, that’s just not true.

Siri can you find me a Samsung Galaxsy S II?
    Siri’s reply: I’m sorry I don’t understand the question.

I remember in KC years ago, the Iphone release day was fast approaching and people were wrapped around the block, in the rain, waiting for the Istore to open on the plaza.  That was before they even offered carrier on-contract pricing.  LoL.  $800 or 900 w/ever it was for an Edge network phone when the Razr 3g was lighting up the market.  And then they had to refund a bunch of money because of the price cut, lol.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jonathanf Jonathan Fingas

$499 and $599.  Also, by 2007, the RAZR was already in its tailspin (it was three years old by that point, remember).  It was certainly outselling Palm and Windows Mobile phones!

  • http://twitter.com/nullspacegames Stacy Layton

That had me laughing, that’s awesome. It’s especially amusing when I’m playing it with my iPhone, so my artist friends can get a laugh too. ^.^

I think this commercial will really be effective for those who are on the fence.  However, this commercial will hold zero weight for those who currently own/use an iphone because they don’t advertise things that attract iphone users (better/more popular apps, smaller screen as iphone users actually prefer the smaller screen so that you can just use one hand to operate the device, better UI, better touch screen, etc…).  It is not a simple thing to switch from apple to android or vice versa.  They are two different worlds.  It’s interesting though, every iphone user i know is nothing like the stereotypes depicted in this ad.  They are people looking for simplicity and integration, and don’t want to spend endless hours tweeking their phone to get it just right.  This ad just makes fun of the extremists, who exist on both markets.  Seriously, do you think there are no willing Fandroids who will wait in line for a week to get there hands on a G-nex??  How many people have sat at droid-life clicking the refresh button over and over and over for the past two weeks??? ;)

  • Sirx

    That.  Was.  AWESOME!!!

  • Anonymous

Samsung – “don’t you dare wait in line for our products!”

  • El El Kool J

“It’s so big!”  that’s what she said! :P

  • Bryan Williams

Well isn’t this the pot calling the kettle black?

As I’m positive there will be people waiting in lines and at their computers for the G-nex to be released.  Awful ad campaign, do they really want us to believe they wouldn’t want people waiting in line for their phones?

  • http://twitter.com/Justinwrites Justin True Anderson

“I’m creative!”  ”Dude, your a barista.”  LOL

  • Anonymous

I don’t understand why Samsung would poke fun of a possible target audience.
I’ll continue to use iOS until I’m able to find an Android device I’m happy with. I’ve been eyeing the Rezound ;-)

    • http://twitter.com/Justinwrites Justin True Anderson

Because Apple Buyers come in two kinds.  A) they won’t recognize themselves as the people in the commercial and B) people who are not secure enough to separate themselves from their market branding and wouldn’t buy a non Apple anything.

      • Anonymous

Umm.. I’m not either of those and I own an iPhone, MacBook Pro and a Windows machine Desktop. I have also owned a Droid, Droid X, Fascinate, and a Droid X2 and came back to the iPhone. Sounds to me that you’re truly the biased one. I happen to buy what I want, when I want and not care “who” makes it. If it suits my needs and is worth the money I put down in terms of quality, I will use it. Thanks for the explanation of who I must be though, very kind and insightful.

Going to the mall now to get a pair of skinny jeans, a sweater and a pair of ultra-hip glasses!

        • Anonymous

          Awesome!

    • EC8CH

nobody identifies with the butt of the jokes in commercials, they’ll see themselves as the cool person not standing in line with the galaxy phone.  Everyone is awesome in their own mind.

  • Anonymous

Watch Apple release the same style of commercial except with a whole bunch of people protesting outside Verizon HQ for the Galaxy Nexus instead of waiting in line.

  • Previously Android Lover

I actually was one of them standing in a line outside the apple store for an hour just to pick up an iphone 4s that I had reserved the night before… and I am what you’d call a fandroid.. rooting my android phone.. manipulating scripts.. etc.

Take it from me..  Iphones are great devices.. every bit way more polished and stable than any android can ever be. Even if you don’t like ios.. the camera itself is worth buying the phone!  The apps are optimized for ios.. everything meshes with each other perfectly.

Android is a mess at the moment.. and yes.. you won’t know this until you experience the latest of what ios is offering.. including icloud, siri etc.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000870625421 Ken Klucina

your right it just works. This is what I tell my users. But I can do everything the iDon’t can do with *minor* configuration. And what about the camera is worth buying it? No camera on a smartphone is worth buying. If you are buying a PHONE for its camera.. you sir are just *fill in the blank*.

      • Previously Android Lover

you missed my point. the iphone is still a phone.. and like I said. everything works great on ios. Even if you were somehow morally opposed to ios.. my point is.. the camera itself is worth getting for a single device with multiple capabilities.

        • LionStone

Have you heard about HTCs cameras?

      • http://twitter.com/Justinwrites Justin True Anderson

*blank*= parent who doesn’t want to lug around a camera in case my kid does something awesome.  I don’t need a great camera, but its gotta be better than the Bionic.

        • Previously Android Lover

absolutely right!. I find needing my camera more often these days especially since my 6 year old is always up to something. LOL. Camera on the iphone is simply unbeatable.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000870625421 Ken Klucina

but you didnt sit there and go I ONLY wnt this phone for it’s camera. I understand the reasons of having a very accessible camera. but please oh please dont use the camera as a reason to buy a phone. Its a great addition

          • Previously Android Lover

Well, believe it or not.. for a lot of people..(including me)..  having a good camera on their phone is THE MOST important factor in buying a phone. I already know that apple build quality is unmatched. I already know that the iphone 4s has extremely good call quality (if you are on Verizon).. and exceptionally good signal reception.
A good camera is just enough to push people like me sitting on the fence.

    • Anonymous

      k bro, thanks for that.

    • http://twitter.com/Justinwrites Justin True Anderson

I was personally driven away from Apple in 3 points.  1) Ipod and Itunes did not play well with my music library and I ended up having delete and re-rip more than 300 gb of files, 2) business collaboration between my pc and my partners mac was entirely frustrating and 3) the Icult.

I actually learned to publish on an Apple 2gs back in the day.  I hated them then too, DOS was so much more logical to me.

  • Greg Williams

I was just on BGR and they showed the same ad. what a crazy comment section they have going on over there, isheep are going crazy.  the thing they will never understand is with Android you have choices, so many phones to choose from, with apple you get whatever they want to give you.

    • Morenoc12

Funny thing is they complain about those choices and how its a problem with android lol

      • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_NOCGF4INNLYCJEREG3YUPZEF7Q Randy

choices is what makes this country great(USA). Its why countrys like north korea suck, they choose everything for you. And yes i just compared apple to north korea.

  • Anonymous

makes me wish i could be a dirty hipster like all the other iSheep.

  • http://profiles.google.com/borochocho Cesar Lopez

this commercial proves my theorie that more than half of apple buyers no nothing about the latest tech on phones. heck, they dont know the specs of their own phone. all they know is that its an iphone.

    • Stating El Obvious

This commercial proved that to you?  LOL, what a moron.  This commercial proved to me that in order to bring attention to their product, Samsung has to mention Apple.  Android sheep are the best.

      • Anonymous

Apple wasn’t mentioned and the logo was never shown in the video.

        • Stating El Obvious

Only an utter and incomprehensible moron wouldn’t see the implication.

          • STiK

You just described the typical iPhone user.

          • Stating El Obvious

And the typical visitor to this blog.

          • Anonymous

Right, that’s kinda my point isn’t it? You don’t have to mention it, that’s how the rest of the world views the people parodied in the video. Samsung is just calling them out on it.

It’s also not the only way Samsung can sell devices. The fact that *pple is trying to stop them from selling devices in as many markets as possible is proof enough of that. *pples attorneys have stopped just short of saying *pple is scared of the threat Samsung poses.

          • Stating El Obvious

Yeah, protecting your IP.  I mean what company does that???! /s

The only people who think Apple are patent trolls are those who post on blogs like this.  I’d hate to think that you’d invite something, patent it, and then let everyone have free reign on it.  Great way to faceplant.

          • Anonymous

Wht IP are you referring to? So far all they’ve proved is Samsung makes black devices with four sides. They won by altering photos.

Maybe you’re talking about multitouch? Do you think touching a screen with more than one finger is really  valid as an “invention,” or is it just the natural obvious progression of technology?

          • Stating El Obvious

It’s evident that you’re a fool if you think that they “won by altering photos”.  So you’re saying that a court, whose job it is to decide if there was a trade dress or IP infringement (or whatever the hell Apple is suing for) was tricked by doctored photos?  That this same court, whose job was to see if two tangible objects are similar did not look at the actual objects?  That Apple showed them their “altered photos” and the judge was like “Well that’s all i need to see!  Case Closed!!”

You’re the reason Android fanboys look like sheep.  Because you say dumb shit like this.  Don’t be an armchair patent lawyer.   You’re doing a horrible job.

If Samsung was ruled against (which they were multiple times) it’s because, after examining all the evidence and not just “altered photos”, the judge in the case found Apple’s case to have merit.  You truly are a simpleton among simpletons if you think otherwise.

As for multitouch the question is not whether Apple invented it, or if Sam Tucker from 1854 invented it.  The question is does Apple have a patent for it, is the patent valid, and did Samsung infringe on that patent.

Please stop posting, your stupidity is showing.

          • Anonymous

Is there a patent on wiping your rear end with TP?  If there isn’t, here comes Apple.  With all of the technology that existed *BEFORE* the iPhone that the iPhone *BUILT UPON*, don’t you find it the least indignant that Apple comes along, uses all those technologies and then patents the hell out of the progression of those technologies?  Their patents are so broad that they practically cover a rectangular screen with icons on it for crying out loud.  AND THEY WERE NOT THE FIRST TO DO THIS!  To take existing tech and patent it as your own invention is the slimiest of slime.

I love how they picked on Motorola, the creator of phone technology who have been doing it for decades.  I hope Moto BURIES Apple with their iCloud as infringing on their patents.  Everyone was playing along just nicely until Apple had to be prick and claim they invented everything.  They will not be the one to finish the fight either.  Apple is the newbie in the phone arena when compared to Moto and HTC.

Using insults to attempt to argue your opinion invalidates everything you just said. You’re free to argue your point but the name calling I wont tolerate. Come back to the table when you grow up.

      • MXFoX408

*Yawn*……both types of devices are good for their own reasons. But making fun of eatchother is like the star wars geeks vs the star trek nerds. I like both for their own reasons. I prefer my android device overall for multiple reasons, and use my iphone 4 32gb(wifi only) as a ipod lets face it android battery life sux and rather have an independant source of music, the camera is awesome for enviromental stills, but prefer the overall use and freedom of android bottomline is both sides need to get over yourselves cuz ignorance flows on both sides. The comercial was funny tho.

        • Stating El Obvious

*Yawn*, this was my point.  Unfortunately that gets clouded because the minute someone says they didn’t like the commercial, they are labeled Apple sheep.  It boggles the mind that people on here don’t realize how sheepy they are, sometimes far far worse then Apple fanboys.

      • Eeedog76

Why would you get on an android website to start bashing on people that enjoy android phones??? if you dont like android then go to a different site, its really that simple….what a moron

        • Anonymous

It’s called the First Amendment….something that fandroids know all too well how to use when they visit Apple blogs…..

        • Stating El Obvious

I live in America where voicing your opinion is allowed and encouraged.  Where are you from?  Communist Russia?

          • LionStone

            Bernard?

          • Stating El Obvious

            Lame fandroid?

    • Clevelandrocks

I 100% agree with you. One of my buddies wants an iPhone and I asked him one simple question, what does “ios” stand for? Guess what, he didn’t have a clue! Most people haven’t the slightest clue what makes there phone special. They see a commercial and hear what people say, and buy on pure speculation that the phone will work. I just see one problem with android phones. Way to many choices. Someone buys a pantec Breakout, has problems with it, and goes to all there friends to tell them android phones suck. What they don’t do is look into why they are having problems. (Slow processor maybe) I have owned four androind phones and had not one problem with any of them. Research. And that’s what most people don’t do.

P.s. the iPhone is for dummies that don’t know how to use a “smartphone”

      • Anonymous

I am all about Android phones and all but I don’t think it’s fair to make the statement that iPhones are for dummies. From what I understand the iphone is a pretty strong phone and works very well at pretty much everything it does.  Also many say many of their apps are actually better that ours.

If the phone works well, you can’t blame someone for wanting one.  And I am sure there will be plenty that buy the Nexus because of the excitement and won’t know what to do with it after they get it.

        Again… I am Android all the way…

I wonder if there are any who are renting an iPhone 4s while waiting for the Nexus to arrive?

    • Anonymous

It is a commercial for samsung meant to make apple look bad. You really think they were going to make the apple crowd look good? smh

  • Anonymous

That’s a great ad. Snubs the competition without being cheap about it.

  • Hedney3

    This was great. Bravo Samsung

  • Anonymous

“But if it looks the same, how will people know I upgraded?”

    Haha, brilliant.

    • Anonymous

      Definitely the best part.

    • Michael Kemper

That is freaking hilarious!  (and at the same time very true of a few of my peers)!

  • hatethanet

LOL, ALL phone-makers want customers lining up for their products like this. Samsung’s no different. Haters gonna hate.

  • bigrob60

Except we’ve been waiting for months for the Nexus. So what does that say about us?

    • Stating El Obvious

That the world has not seen sheep like Android sheep.  A phone is announced and two months later the sheep are still saying its going to be the most awesome thing ever.  The sheep is strong with these ones.

      • bigrob60

        LOL

      • Anonymous

I guess that’s not too bad because the iphone 5 is going to be delayed over a year.

        • http://www.facebook.com/jonathanf Jonathan Fingas

It was never delayed, because Apple committed to releasing an “iPhone 5″ in 2011. Its modus operandi has so far been major-minor-major in terms of physical design.  It’s still twice as fast with a much better camera.

          • LionStone

Twice as fast as what? A flip phone?

  • Bewara2009

oh man they took out that part at the end where he says r u mad,,,and then goes into the taxi…WTF

  • Dave

Funny, last I looked we are still waiting on the Galaxy Nexus.

    • Anonymous

I don’t think they are making fun of the waiting at all. They are making fun of the uninformed, brand obsessed consumer who needs to open their eyes to alternatives.

  • Verizon_wants_SGSII

Awesome!  I wish Verizon just got the black and white versions of the SGSII.

All of this Galaxy Nexus / Nexus Prime delay is just plain silly.

  • Greg Morgan

It’s like in Big bang theory, when the guys make fun of the Apple Genius Bar workers. Except now, Samsung is making fun of apple fanboys! Brilliant!

  • Dominick DeVito

At least the iSheep get their phones after a couple of days of waiting.

    • Mctypething

yeah, I feel really bad for you Galaxy Nexus sheep

      • bigrob60

        Cannot argue with that.

      • Dominick DeVito

        quit while you’re ahead troll.

        • Guest

at least we don’t have to read 900 “u mad bro?” post.

now go ahead and do it…..   “you happy bro?”

          • Anonymous

LOL, I waleked by an Apple store yesterday during lunch in Downtown Palo Alto, CA (ground Zero for iSheep followers and this commercial looks like it was shot there. lol

          • Jarred Sutherland

Really wish you guys could come up with something original over the “iSheep” crap. Why not just let people buy what they like, because they like it? Does it offend you that it’s someones choice to use something you dislike?

Stuff like this is pathetic, you all are just as much shills for Samsung or whatever other company as people are for Apple. Pot, kettle, black?

          • Anonymous

While I feel like Apple’s consumers are generally uninformed, and the stereotypical Apple consumer is borderline pompous about his purchase, I do agree that the Nexus crowd on this site has crossed into Apple-esque fanboyism.

          • Jarred Sutherland

I agree, Apple’s general base of fans are pretty uninformed, but just as many of the Android population are clueless as well.

You have your rabid Apple fans, and your rabid Android fans. Both are just as bad as the other, can’t see the middle ground to where all devices have their good points and bad points.

          • Anonymous

Indeed.  iPhone has it’s crowd.  Those who desire a ‘status piece’(as silly as that seems to us), folks who use Apple products and live in iTunes land, folks who are not technically deft(oh yea self reference), etc.

Android has it’s crowd.  Nerds(term of endearment coming from me), folks who like choice, folks who dislike Apple(me), etc etc.

I don’t like the way Apple does business or the way it(and its users) carry itself, but that’s not to say the iPhone sucks.  I just don’t want one.

          • Jarred Sutherland

And that’s the great thing about life, choose what you enjoy and use it. I’ve been a nerd for a long time, used just about every OS possible and love to tinker and rip stuff apart. I guess when it comes to my mobile device I prefer it to work in a predetermined way because it allows me to focus on the other stuff I need to do. However, I must say that even though I have heard over and over that the iPhone doesn’t allow you to do this or that, I really haven’t found it too limiting and found other ways to work around the limitations that I want to.

Anyways, point of the matter is use what you like. :)

Edit : I’ve said it many times on here, I love Android. However, I hate the OEMs that ruin it by refusing to support their products with proper updates. Samsung is the worst when it comes to updating devices.

          • Anonymous

You ought to give some of the newer Android phones a test.  iPhone’s claim to fame(legitimately earned) may have competition these days…I got the RAZR and was pleasantly surprised by how everything ‘just worked’.  It’s definitely losing it’s Linux like ‘some assembly required’ issues.

          • Jarred Sutherland

I edited my post as you were replying. My last 5 devices were Android powered (Thunderbolt, Fascinate before that, Incredible before, etc). Ran CM7 and just about every possible ROM on them as well.

          • Anonymous

Go play with a RAZR or Rezound!  Of course I come from a sales family so my natural inclination is to try and convince you that you should switch back.  Hopefully you come back to us once upgrade time rolls around. :)

          • Jarred Sutherland

I am always up for switching to what I believe is the best device for me. However, I will never buy another Samsung device after my having the Fascinate, I just cannot support a company who refuses to give me proper support. Perhaps if the next Nexus is by Moto. HTC is a possibility, but they have to win me over after the massive screw up’s with the Thunderbolt.

          • Anonymous

            You don’t like the RAZR?

          • Jarred Sutherland

I’ve never been a fan of Moto’s UI. I much prefer the vanilla Android experience. That and UI’s add in delay to the OEM releasing updates (and half the time amplify the number of bugs that must be resolved). I think with ICS the idea of other UI’s should be squashed unless you want to load one from the market.

          • Anonymous

            Shhhh don’t tell anyone but…

I’m actually enjoying the functionality that Blur is adding.  The OEM delays worry me a bit, but not terribly.  If I had to run the thing as it runs now for the next two years, I’d have no complaints.

          • Jarred Sutherland

On another note, we should keep replying and see how small of a space this blog software will fit our comments into.

            A CHALLENGE!

          • Anonymous

A challenge that folks have risen to before, but I am willing to to take a stab at again.  Why don’t you get an LG Optimus?  Definitely better than the iPhone. :P

          • Haycaramba

i just want to reply to get even squeezed reply in here.. can we squeeze it down to 1 char per line?

          • Haycaramba

maybe, lets see. one more.. smaller….

          • Whett Phartz

You two are hardcore! Since I’m narrow-minded, it is quite easy for me to read your extremely narrow posts.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10600664 Eric Levine

First of all, thanks gentlemen for such a refreshingly mature discussion on an otherwise predominantly juvenile commenting public.

Re: your distrust of Samsung, is it fair to say that with the GNex, since the software & user experience is being handled by Google and not Samsung, might that be the kicker?

          • Anonymous

The middle ground is here. I use iPhone 4 myself and like it very much but I was disappointed with the 4S’ launch.

My wife owns a SGSII. She is very happy about it too, so am I.

Both phones have pros and cons. It just depends on how it like it. But to be honest, I don’t like Apple fans’ behavior. You can always see people, especially girls, walking on the street holding an iPhone with the screen lit on while there is a pretty empty purse hanging on their shoulders. So, you have an iPhone, so what!? It is exactly that kind of thinking “I could never get a Samsung. I am creative.”

          • Anonymous

The nexus crowd on this site may be worse than the apple crowd. I never thought that was possible but these group of people showed me it can be done lol.

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=10600664 Eric Levine

To be honest it’s mostly due to GNex release date anxiety. Other than that I have no defense for them

          • Anonymous

That’s why they call us Galaxy Nexus Sheep. Look away or you will become one of us…

You have to admit you liked the commercial though…. right?

          • Jarred Sutherland

The commercial wasn’t bad. But still, mocking potential customer base is pretty foolish.

@Jarred Sutherland Jarred do you own an iphone???

          • Jarred Sutherland

            Yes, I do right now.

          • Anonymous

@Jarred Sutherland, have you ever OWNED a Android dvice??? When and what type

          • Jarred Sutherland

How many times to I need to re-post this info? One more time, but if anyone wants to know again they need to use the previous posts feature.

Yes, I have owned MANY android devices.

Started with Motorola Droid, moved to the Incredible, then the Fascinate (wife owned Eris then Fascinate) and lastly the Thunderbolt. Oh and we currently have a Nook Color that is running CM7.

          • Anonymous

So why the switch to iphone?? You’re right and I agree with your point that Apple Google etc.. They both have Pro’s and Cons and it’s a personal choice obviously, but you are on a Android site and I’ve been on an Android blog site as well to see the negativity about Android. And you they’re childish people on here as well, just like Apple blog sites too.

if you search on youtube you will see funny spoofs of Android and about the Android fan base as would you see funny spoofs of Apple and their fan base. So it’s all relevant right?? I have friends that love their Apple devices and havve switched phones for a day to play with the OS to get a feel for each others device.

Again both devices are great and if it wasnt for Apple there probably wouldn’t be an Android. :)

          • Jarred Sutherland

Why switch to the iPhone? I want official support for updates more than 3 months after I buy my device. HTC has already abandoned the Thunderbolt which is less than 6 months old. Samsung has already abandoned the Charge (the GB updates are a joke, the device is more than able to handle ICS yet they are still wasting time with GB). Terrible UI’s and bugs with the custom UI’s that replace functionality that worked just fine with the stock interface.

Now compare that to Apple. The 3GS is over two years old, however it is running the latest version of iOS 5. Granted it is missing some features, however this is expected because it’s 2 year old hardware and isn’t going to run the latest and greatest.

While the dev community does a fine job of giving us more life out of our devices, I want the OEMs to take the task up and give us the updates. The Nexus does this, but I refuse to switch carriers when the next Nexus is released and for some reason Verizon doesn’t get it, not to mention Samsung hardware/materials are sub part  … IMO.

I have no beef with anyone that likes Android, because I do too. I use the best product at the time, and currently I believe Apple has the upper hand for the reasons above.

          • LionStone

Can you please post a link that states HTC gave up support for TB…and that Samsung gave up support for Charge…AND the TB is over 8 most old :-)

          • Jarred Sutherland

You don’t need a link, you can see it in the fact that GB had been out for quite some time when the TB was released, and it was just last month that they managed to get it deployed to the TB. For an 8 month old device, which was up until a week ago still their flagship device on Verizon, they have already stated that it will not be on the first round of updates to ICS, nor have they said if it will ever be updated to ICS.

Samsung managed ONE release for the Fascinate (froyo), the Charge isn’t getting ICS any more than the Tbolt is.

However, were splitting hairs here since these devices aren’t even out of their FIRST year (remember, we have two year contracts), and there are no plans from the OEMs to provide updates to ICS, and OS that was released in the same year these devices were.

          • Anonymous

I hear you and you’re right about OEM’s on Android quickly dropping support. I see the Thunderbolt as a rush into the 4 g lte side and thats why for all of the bugs (Still No Excuse), but I think Google is trying to get the OEM’s on board with better support.and not flipping through devices like candy. I think Moto saw the same with the Bionic and thats why the Bionic was months late in deployment.

As far as Samsung goes, I think they’re doing better with their hardware an example the GS2II very nice, The Nexus is looking good and even I will do my own hands on research when the device comes out. The dev community has done a great job on keeping the older phones alive, but if your not inot rooting like the majority of the customers then its a moot point.

But fun for us rooters lol Good point and I see your side of the house. maybe the Galaxy will change your mind :) if not then Apple works for you again both have their Pros and Cons. That’s technology for you LOL

          • Anonymous

Then why not go with the Nexus line on Android?  They always get updates right away just like your iPhone.  Did you purposely pick skinned phones that anyone who knows anything about Android understands that updates don’t come the day after Google releases an OS version?  I’m a little confused by your logic.  You weren’t locked into one phone.  You had options.  You chose the wrong option.  Now you blame Android?

          • Anonymous

Wasn’t Android was in development before the iPhone?  Nice try.

          • Dominick DeVito

            True

        So do we…. baaaa

    • Anonymous

Umm.. how long did that internals-swapped 4S take to arrive, 16 months?

      • Stating El Obvious

I think the point was Apple didn’t announce it and release it 16 months later.  Good effort though.

        • Anonymous

16 months?  It was less than a month before people could get their hands on it.

          • Stating El Obvious

            Yes…I know…that’s what I said.

          • Anonymous

it was less than a week, they announced it then like 2 days later preorders started.

          • Anonymous

If you take the rumors into consideration, than iPhone 4S’ unofficial announcement is more than 8 months. Apple is very good at marketing and making their name popular. Do you really think the rumors are from ordinary fans? Apple likes to make stories or news and hold on the announcement to the very last day.

        • Anonymous

It has been just over a month since the GNex was announced. And this ad isn’t about the ‘waiting in queue’ as some half-wits perceive it. It’s about the blindness that plagues the uniformed hordes following a brand just for the name of it.

          • Jarred Sutherland

Yes as opposed to the flock of people that buy Android devices because they love Linux and all the technical features of it.

You’re funny. People buy Android devices most of the time because their friend told them to or they loved the price. You’re on a tech site with a tiny group of techs/nerds/enthusiasts, they do not represent the majority.

          • LionStone

“You’re funny. People buy Android devices most of the time because their friend told them to or they loved the price.”

Hehe…you are funny too. And even when given the choice, my stepmom chose Android over Apple…last time in VZ store I overhead an older man say “Well because I heard about it”, when asked why he wanted the iphone.

    • Matthew Rosidivito

Well, Verizon is yet to officially announce the Nexus anyway. Any waiting is due to rumors. On a related note, how is the iPhone 5 working out?

      • http://twitter.com/mfg68 MFG

They DID officially announce it. October 21st.

        • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

They did announce it, just not a date. And head ICS honcho Duarte said November. So technically, that is sort of a delay. :P

          • Anonymous

Hahaha that’s a stretch and you know it.  That’s like the head of Xbox development saying a particular companies game is come out on a certain date.  A tenuous connection at best.  I know I know…”:P”

        • Matthew Rosidivito

Yes, and they said “By the end of the year.” Sorry, I should have specified what I meant by “announce.”

  • Anonymous

Freakin’ hilarious. Best part “I can’t get a Samsung. I’m creative.” “Dude, your a barista.” Priceless…

  • Enigma2u

I wouldn’t talk to much trash about this commercial cuz i am sure about 50% of us here check DL about 5-10 times a day for Gnex news …so in a way they wait in line for a for sure! Launch date and we check online tons of times a day for any scrap on news regarding our precious Gnex…I only envy apple for concrete launch dates and announcement relatively close to release dates….

    • Anonymous

I just wait for new updates to push to my phone over my 4G connection, then read them on my 4.3″ screen.

      • Enigma2u

Oh I have a Droid razr in LA so i have 4g coverage as well and I have DL on my FB and G+ but to save battery I don’t update sync every hour or so it comes every few hours so yeah …plus I pole reading some of these comments anyways its good humor at times …

  • Stating El Obvious

    Yeah…cuz samsung doesn’t want Apple’s success…gimme a break…lame ass commercial.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000870625421 Ken Klucina

lol – sure they do. yes some of the iDon’t is samsung. But the SGS2 is ALL samsung(more money to samsung) *and* they get the samsung logo on it. the logo that is on every single one of their products. Take your iDon’t to iDon’t-Life.com

      • Stating El Obvious

This may have been more lame then the above commercial.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000870625421 Ken Klucina

see this is is why i don’t make commercials. but everything i said was true. ;)

    • EC8CH

hits a little too close to home huh buddy?

      • Stating El Obvious

How do you not see what a sheep you are?  LOL…that’s more hilarious then the commercial.

        • EC8CH

computer scientists use Android… not sheep.

          and your math is wrong:

that commercial’s funny > your opinion

          • Stating El Obvious

LOL, now you’re trying to convince yourself you’re a computer scientist?  That liberal arts degree you have isn’t getting you many opportunities huh?

          • EC8CH

Actually I’m a Mechanical Engineer, but that’s not as funny as you not getting a Steve Ballmer Android is for computer scientists joke:

I rather enjoy your quips, as well. Great minds, and all that.

  • Joelseph

This would be funnier if we all hadn’t been waiting for 2 months for the Galaxy Nexus.  Heh

  • Mctypething

Sounds like jealousy to me. I’m sure this will really shake Apple to their core.

    • Anonymous

      You a barista bro?

      • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

        Yep, this one.

    • EC8CH

      u sure bro?

  • SugaShane

    Dude, you’re a barista.

Love this! Especially the blonde girl mocking “why don’t you just get a 4g phone” and the barrista comment. Pretty much dead on. (no, not an apple hater, I own four macs and they are my preferred PC… just can’t stand the attitude SOME Apple enthusiasts have)

  • ccst

This has to be the best thing I have ever seen.

Stupid comments by a stupid manufacturer.

LOL this is what 99% on here are doing for the Nexus

    • http://twitter.com/mkotwicki Matthew Kotwicki

I dont see people waiting days in lines for a phone to get released.

      • Matthew Kotwiki

        u sir, are an idiot

  • Brian Wenger

    Funny.

  • Mack

    “I could never get a Samsung…I’m creative.”  ”Dude, you’re a barista…”

    Best part of the commercial!

    • Tesseract 3

      That part cracked me up.

      • Jason

The guy saying “If it looks the same, How will people know I upgraded?’ is better, Gotta love the main concerns of the imob.

        • http://twitter.com/darkzero7 Anthony Mai

that line was actually stated by my coworkers after the announcement. So they’re going to wait for the iPhone5

          • Jason

Just shows how ridiculous they are! “If people can’t see i have the new iphone Idon’t want it!” Lol what a joke!

  • http://twitter.com/nashmax73 TomAss (TA)

It’s almost a guilty pleasure, because picking on iClones is just too easy.

Wake up, take off the AOL-like training wheels, and graduate to the Droid OS people.

  • http://twitter.com/wynalazca Andrew Webber

    This is epic.

  • Anonymous

Nice ad, and very effective.  It would be funny if Apple released an ad showing a geek holding a droid dressed up in ninja gear, playing with knives and flying a spaceship attacking someone using an iphone.  Begun these phone wars have.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Michael-Forte/542650247 Michael Forte

Maybe they’re just mad there’s not lines waiting for their phones?

  • DWM

It would be MUCH funnier if we all hadn’t been waiting MONTHS for the Galaxy Nexus to be released.

  • John

wonder if they’ll actually air this?

  • Dominick DeVito

yeah, it’s not like we’re desperately waiting on a Samsung phone or anything  :p

  • http://twitter.com/BasKoene Bas Koene

And I gotta agree with Samsung.
