I bought a Charge in July and hate this phone with a passion. Crappy memory management (and should I say lack thereof) and no update for a relatively new phone. I got tired of waiting and with no response from either Verizon or Samsung, I finally rooted and flashed to Gingerbread 2.3.6. The phone is working better, but I will never again consider Samsung when upgrading next time. The one thing I hate about Android devices is that there is a new release practically every week, and the previous devices are not supported. Apple has Google beat to hell in this aspect.

Data connection issues... Verizon will deny any knowledge of this. I'm upset like the rest, but not necessarily about the lack of GB. I think it's shameful that they havent upgraded it, but worse still is the fact that Verizon and Samsung have not addressed the problems this phone has had since day 1. If the phone would actually WORK, I'd be thrilled, but it's very clear that Samsung and Verizon do not care about their customers. I've only been fighting with Verizon for 6 months now and their "solution" is to send a refurbished phone. That may work, if the entire lineup exhibit the same issue.

The Charge will get Gingerbread. In fact I'm running the 2.3.5 leak right now. It's only a matter of time before Samsung and VZW push the update out.

This fellow Droid Charge owner agrees with you 1000%!!! They've updated the two 4G LTE phones that came out before AND after ours with Gingerbread, the HTC Thunderbolt and the LG Revolution, so WTF is their problem? I'm getting tired of having to charge the phone and/or swap batteries from the auxiliary charger 2-4 times a day. I'm tired of having to turn on Airplane Mode then turn it off just to get the damn thing to lock back onto a data signal when it mysteriously looses connection to the data network. Try to call both Verizon AND Samsung to find out if and/or when the update will become available, you wind up with both companies pointing fingers at each other and your thumb up your a.s.s. Considering what we paid for this phone and all the monthly charges that go with it, Verizon and Samsung have no excuse!

To all Droid-Life Readers -

What would be really nice to see is a PETITION -- perhaps posted here on Droid-Life -- FROM all Verizon Droid or other Verizon Android smartphone owners, addressed TO Verizon, specifically demanding that Verizon and Samsung comply with their promises of timely Operating System updates for their phones. I'm a Droid Charge owner, and very unhappy not even to have Gingerbread nearly one year post-release...and a few days prior to 4.0.

I find it hard to believe that there are not thousands of other Android smartphone owners on Verizon's network in a similar situation. A petition signed by thousands of Verizon subscribers would certainly cause them to take notice -- if for no other reason that the web presence which would hopefully follow.

And its one comment, its the people that keep posting about how bad it is that keep filling up the comments.

A lot of people got mind f'ed on that one. It takes a darn good hunter to catch so much prey with such a small amount of bait.

: Their first DROID device should receive this update! They should have known what they were getting into when they decided to create one - the DROID line up is nothing but the best of the best at all angles in that given time. It deserves the update, or at least Gingerbread yesterday! lol

Cool. I have the Tab 10.1 so this is good news. IMO, I would sacrifice having super specs on my phone for having the latest updates. ala Nexus. I just want the most up to date phone software wise. I can settle for not having the best hardware.
