I have a Droid 3, and honestly…the only reason I didnt wait for the bionic is because of the keyboard…i need to type fast for the work i do, and sometimes long emails or documents on the go. its an excellent business phone whereas the droid bionic is more entertainment centered. the droid 3 is pretty durable and compact without sacrificing good entertainment. the bionic will be faster and prettier, but for everyday uses, if the droid 3 had 1 gig of ram itd be a match for the bionic…but with 512 megs no way…not even with the best OTA update to fix the motoblur lag

Not true for all the reasons I listed plus good LED backlit sets do not suffer from uniformity or picture quality issues. Not sure how the same or better picture in a thinner package is a scam.

I got my OG droid the same way. Im not special, and im sure lots of other who use DL have it like me. Im just over-joyed to get a new toy!

You mentioned that you were on your 4th Droid 3. Er, “Not at all. If I wanted I bionic, I would get one. I’m on my 4th Droid 3. The guy at Verizon…” You know people huh?
There’s a bit of you credibility coming into question there…just a bit.

Now you have the option to like what you have and that’s great. Yay! The Droid 3 is simply not as capable as the Droid Bionic spec wise. Be realistic and look at the sheet. I’m not saying that the Droid Bionic will not have issues but I am saying it will out perfom the Droid 3.

BTW I have a Droid X and that’s a MOTO phone and there’s not a thing wrong with the HDMI port. You must have some of the worst phone luck in the world to have been through so many same model devices and not have one be the way it’s supposed to be out of the box. Now if you’re caught in Verizon’s refurbished phone loop then that’s a different, but still sad, story. If you’re getting a “brand new” phone each time and still having issues then the Droid 3 has some serious QC issues.

I’ve been through Apex, Liberty, Cyanogen, MIUI and I’m now back to Blur just for the HDMI(Real HDMI/Xternal Display). If I had a Droid Bionic or an HTC Vigor with 4G dual core and 1G RAM I wouldn’t be too bothered by not having Vanilla AOSP, Cyanogen or MIUI(I know, blasphemy).

Tell that to the employee that told me that then. Also, he’s not the one that let me use it. I know some insiders. I used the Thunderbolt multiple times before it released. I even used a Merge(months ago) and was told that they had an LTE one in testing as well. I used prototype Droid 3s. I used a few different versions of the Bionic, including the more final version recently. I knew the specs of the Droid 3 and new Bionic long before most people did. I also know higher ups at Verizon that have done favors for me in the past. Don’t be an all-knowing douche about it. Not every store is the same.

“Special Preorder”= Greedy sales rep that told you he would hold one just for you..WINK WINK.

Reality= He isn’t allowed to hold one for you, as an order cannot be created until there is inventory loaded to sell, and basically you are gonna go in and get a “special backorder”. Not trying to rain on your parade, but the illusion of exclusivity, doesn’t really impress anyone here. We all know how the drill works.

Verizon dropped the policy on replacing with an alt model awhile back. It used to be 3 issues in 90 days and they would give you a model specified by a replacement matrix. At no point have they ever given anyone free reign to pick what phone they wanted. Especially not a phone that hasn’t even released yet, and FYI, no inventory has been received of them. Someone would lose their job for you even seeing it, if they did have them. “Bitching” about it, no longer works at verizon. Those days have sailed chief. But cool story though!!

Er, I’m on my 3rd, not 4th. First one had a dead touchscreen out of the box. Second one had defective glass with weird marks(which is just bad luck, and really rare; took it to a few different stores and none of them had ever seen or heard of issues like that before). This one is fine, other than: the HDMI port is “loose”, and it reboots. But, every Moto phone has the same HDMI port issue, at least among the 7 that other people I know have. And the Bionic runs the same software as the Droid 3(at least the one I used did) and reboots as well. But if I really want a Bionic, I simply bitch about it and it’s mine. You can make sarcastic remarks all you want, but the Bionic is made by the same company and, if the one I used was a final version, has the same issues. The first batches of new phones always have issues anyways. It isn’t going to stomp the Droid 3. They’re nearly identical.
And don’t forget that the LTE chip will make developing for it harder. There isn’t an LTE phone with CM7 or other AOSP roms because the chips use hacked together drivers that won’t work with AOSP, unless the devs hack their own drivers together. The TBolt and Charge still don’t have fully functional CM7, and probably never will.

Since when did more RAM not equal better performance?
You said that the Bionic can run more apps. Isn’t that a good example of better performance?
I was scanning a check into Paypal today and it kept logging me out after the back of check pic saying I was low on memory (RAM). More is better. I had to freeze a bunch of background apps to get it to work. More is better.

It will stomp the DROID 3 which I’m sure is a great phone seeing as you’re on your 4th. Now that’s dedication. Bionic=More and is Better than the DROID 3. IMO ;°)

this phone should have been droid x2 and should have come out around july..
