It’s simply the same concept as Windows. Make it available to many OEM’s and it’s only a matter of time until it rules the roost of the market share. I’m an Android person myself (DHD & Xoom) but 21% for a locked down, one -piece-of-hardware-only OS isn’t too bad on Apple’s side. Or maybe 21% of smartphone owners care more about fashion statements. Whatever.

and its only that way because there are more options when looking at Android. it might be the highest selling phone, but not the highest selling OS, hence this lovely chart that has been presented to you. Also, a lot of those sales were people that were fed up with AT&T and switched to the iPhone on Verizon

Your argument is logically flawed and substantially lacking not to mention old and long refuted. People were saying the same thing before the iPhone launched on Verizon proclaiming the end of android, that obviously didn’t happen, in fact it barely made a dent. Did you miss the 15% increase in two months time in this article? Do I really need to remind you that Verizon and AT&T combined have well over two thirds of the US phone market? How about the rest of the world where the iphone isn’t limited to specific carriers and is still being raked over the coals by android, hell the Galaxy S 2 alone is selling as well as the iPhone in Europe. One phone from one company cannot compete with a whole conglomerate of options no matter how popular it is. In this case, the open and thus superior platform is winning plain and simple.

It ends with their market share at 5%, it ends with their inflated stock tanking starting soon now that Stevo is stepping down. All their revenue stems from the iphone and itunes.

Their PC market growth has been almost nonexistent, the only reason they register in mobile “computing” at all is due to the giant ipod touch and now android will be eclipsing them in the mobile phone market.

Time to come to grips with reality bud.

the pie graph looks like Android is eating everyone else
