No support? Have you tried getting support for your phone? What, you haven’t? So, you’re phone has had no problems, is that what you’re saying? No? Wait, I’m confused. You’re upset because companies are continually trying to improve their products, and even though you had no problem with your current phone, you don’t want to buy from them anymore, since you can’t get the absolute latest version of the OS? Did I miss anything? Your logic is broken, dude.

There’s a difference between “not supported anymore” and “not going to get the latest OS on it”. If there’s something “broken” about your phone that hasn’t been fixed by now, then yeah, definitely something to complain about. Otherwise, I don’t see the big deal.

What kind of a reason is that to switch? Do you really think Gingerbread gives such a superior experience to Froyo? I’m running a rooted 2.2 now and have no desire to “upgrade” (increase the 2.x number) any time soon. If you’re going to switch to another empire, at least do it for a good reason–like the free navigati… er, oh no they don’t have that.

The 3GS will get a downgraded version of iOS5 with less features and possibly reduced performance as has been the case with every 2nd update on both iPhones prior to it, how is that better? It will also be the last update for the 3GS meaning it received one fully featured update and one half-baked update in its lifetime. That is no better than Android phones getting dropped after two or so updates from where I’m sitting, yes their support tends to get dropped sooner but it gets just as many or more updates just in less time because android isn’t on a yearly update cycle, plus those updates are always fully featured and sometimes provide performance improvements rather than the opposite. Of course they won’t all be updated at the same time, you are dealing with multiple companies and products, not one. Don’t like that then maybe iLand is for you. Android affords far more freedom, that means you can do with it what you will including the option of extending support by loading custom roms that also often make it much better. Can’t be said for the iProducts.

Apple is 20 times better. Fact is, every iPhone 4 and 3GS user will have access to iOS 5. Not only that, they get it the same day as everyone else. That’s significant. How many people still don’t have Gingerbread after it was released in January? How many will never get it, despite their phones are less than a year old? Seriously? I think all phones should have 2 years of OS upgrades in a timely manner. You contracts with the carrier are 2 years long, so should your support be.

I certainly understand how frustrating it can be when you are
trying to find out about update. Being that it is a combined effort
between HTC, Google, and your carrier to produce working updates for our
Android devices, we don’t have any information about updates that are
coming out until they are released for those devices. When an update is
available for your device you will receive a notification letting you
know. What you can do is keep an eye out on HTC’s social network pages,
Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as your carrier’s webpage for more
information about updates.
