Just like auto dealers have to trust you didn't put a super charger on your car. But lets be real, I don't think there is an epidemic of people frying their phones due to overclocking. Thermal limits are put on the chipsets for a reason, and even less people overclock than root.

A phone should be no different than a PC, people could overclock their PCs, and I suppose fry the CPU or the northbridge perhaps (has anyone ever actually accomplished that?) Which would void your warranty...but the freedom to install whatever software you like on your PC wouldn't

I would say it's hard to believe some people are still b*tching even though HTC has done exactly what everyone has wanted, but it's par for the course because some people will never be satisfied. Rooting has always voided your warranty. Just because you have returned or had a phone fixed that was rooted and technically should have had its warranty voided doesn't make HTC wrong for devising a way to enforce what has always been the risk/danger of rooting your phone.

Heaven forbid a phone manufacturer actually cater to their customers and give in to their demands, with the sole caveat being that they make it known that they are going to take steps to make sure the policy that HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN PLACE has a means of being enforced. They are still a company whose executives and board of directors duty is to their shareholders and those people care about bottom line profits. In this compromise, it's pretty much a 90% customer victory with the phone manufacturer simply asking for a 10% interest in making sure warranty rules are followed. Wise up, complainers.

I must point out my gratitude for your kind-heartedness supporting those people who really want guidance on this important question. Your very own dedication to passing the message along ended up being remarkably beneficial and have really permitted most people just like me to reach their aims. This warm and friendly guideline entails so much a person like me and even further to my peers. Thanks a ton; from all of us.

How about they let us FULL FACTORY RESTORE the device (if it has any issues) and NOT void the warranty.

That would be a better option for everybody (and not TRACK it via serial).
