I’m gonna have this for sure. This is really cool.

The music industry are now slowly being killed by piracy, I support music artists by buying their songs legally. This is a very helpful app. Thx Google!!

The first smartphone was the Nokia 9000 Communicator in 1996 which added PDA functionality to the basic mobile phone at the time.

Very good blog site I’ll certainly be returning to look at it day-to-day later on

Another common question is that who needs eye care. Generally speaking, people of all ages are unaffordable to neglect any health problems. Regular visits to the eye doctor can effectively help in identifying and preventing damage to the eyes. This is extremely necessary for people who have a family history of eye-related disorders. In addition, the current world of computer-centric is causing a lot of eye strain and other conditions such as dry eye. In this case, people with long hours on computer also need additional eye care. Long times of computer use on a regular basis is also associated with other eye problems, like cataracts, degeneration or glaucoma.

lets see how this will work on my tablet!?

  • djembeman

I don’t see a reason to use this app. It seems to give me less functionality than my stock music app. It certainly doesn’t add any funcionallity! I like using MixZing anyway.

  • Haf2beme2

I dont see any way to use my music as ringtones now…What’s up with that?

  • Porno

Amazon Cloud Drive beat them to market.. lots of folks myself included won’t bother with Google Music, especially when we buy all of our MP3s from Amazon anyway, and they automatically sync to the cloud. Add in cloud support from third party vendors like Gladinet and I really see no reason to use google Music.

Won’t work with the double touch to launch from home screen on my droid X so that’s a disappointment.

  • Cliff05rsx

i have a droid eris. i clicked the market link above and it says it cant find it. how else can i get this?

  • Anonymous

It feels so sluggish on my OG Droid running GPA14. I also didn’t notice any ‘settings’ screen.

  • User

Looks nice but still nothing compared to apps like Power Amp or Player Pro. Still pretty much a barebones player with minimal features.

  • Kendal

Settings? I am sure I’m just being an idiot, but I can’t seem to find any way to access any settings…

This is now replacing my stock music player. Hopefully soon they will add the lock screen controls.

Is there some sort of disfunction running rampant at google. They are becoming more and more like MS leaving out or forgetting all the small details that take something from “potentially” great to actually great. Once again there is no STOP OR EXIT KEY IN THIS APP. Say what you want about “the other manufacturer” but at least they sweat the details. HEY GINGERBREAD WAS GREAT BUT HONEYCOME IS THE SH&T. DO WE EVEN HAVE ANY OF THESE THINGS YET. Stop moving forward before you deliver anything.

  • Bryman16

Oh awesome. Fragmentation has render this app useless for me. The iPhone is becoming more and more appealing.

  • Mike_ster57

Is this suppose to take the place of my purchased app “Power Amp”?

  • Larry

um.. why would i want to rent a movie on my phone? like… the 1% of the time i’m travelling MAYBE (dead battery in what.. 3 mins?).. but i’ll stick with netflix on my tv (and xoom eventually). Most grownups prefer large screen tvs and surround sound heh.

have had this on my droid x for over a month now or at least version 3.0.336. can’t tell if this one is a newer version, have not downloaded it from the market yet – v3.0.336 runs really well on the deodexed 595 gingerbread leak – uninstalled the stock music app.

  • Robvanwinkle

Does Google want to compete with iphone or what!? Go download Doubletwist or Winamp, thet are better apps.

i’m not sure how to get my music files that are already on my phone to show up. do i need to download the “android file transfer?” It says that is for android 3.0+. Kind of new to all this. My apologies.

    • MDB

They should show up automatically it just takes some time depending on how much music you have. The player is for Android devices 2.2+ not 3.0+ (which would only qualify honeycomb tablets). The music application itself however is version 3.0.

      • http://profiles.google.com/williamcmoran William Moran

oh i’m not talking about uplading them to the cloud. i just want to know how to get the songs that are stored on my phone that i used to listen on the stock music player to show up on google music. Anyone?

        • http://profiles.google.com/williamcmoran William Moran

oh i wasn’t overly clear what i was asking. i’d like the music that is stored on my phone that i used to listen to with the stock music player to be played on the google music app. i’m not overly concerned with uploading them to the cloud. anyone? thanks.

  • Wbdrummer

I like it, and it has amazing potential. But, it still has a long way to go until its better then the fruit phone’s player. :/

Installation failed for me on a Dinc due to package not signed correctly (insert UPS delivery jokes here)

    • http://twitter.com/Tech_Jared Jared Fulgham

I had the same issue with my rooted OG Droid. Any ideas or suggestions?

      • http://twitter.com/Tech_Jared Jared Fulgham

        Nevermind. Got it.

Google Movie rental has also been announced!

  • Agrapple

Weird. I don’t have the “Make Instant Mix” link that’s shown in the screenshot above. Does anyone?

    • Larry

Me neither, but I do have a shop for Artist, which the image above does not show.

      • Greg

you have to have the beta link for all of that. Dont think they’ve sent them out yet….

  • Kevoskee

Been playing with it and it doesn’t have all the features as my default Thunderbolt music player. No SRS or equalizer. Good thing this is only a beta. Lots of work to go

    • tanknspank

All that is done by HTC, not Google. The stock music app, which isn’t actually in Beta, is usually pretty featureless in comparison to other music apps. This is what you get.

  • Niteperson

Really on the fence about this. I enjoy the Amazon Cloud Player and have purchased quite a bit of music from them. Not sure I want music from three different sources – iTunes, Amazon, and Google. Decisions, decisions,

    • Niteperson

Never mind. Meant to post this in the Music Beta discussion.

  • Cdcfourseasons

When I try to install I get and error that states package was not signed correctly, downloaded directly from market to my dinc?

    • Kevoskee

Maybe try and clear defaults or force close the stock music player…

      • Cdcfourseasons

Thanks, that did it, just uninstalled the old one and installed the new one.

now to get the invitation emaillllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • MG

How do I get my album art to show up?

    • http://profiles.google.com/bnist1978 William Nist

I use album art grabber, free from the market.

      • MG

        Cool, thanks!

Finally an Android music player that seems to deal with compilation albums correctly.

  • Jeff

looks like they borrowed from the launcherpro style popup.

    • Greg

      You can’t be serious… smgdh

      • Jeffs_ear

Sorry, Jeff can’t respond right now, his lips are too busy massaging Fede’s rump.

        • Jeff

wow, angry much? looks pretty similar to me.

  • mysticdarkhack

So, think we should remove the old music player, your opinion?

    • http://profiles.google.com/bnist1978 William Nist

Im on Liquid GB for OG droid and I used Titanium Backup to make a backup and I uninstalled the old stock music player. The new one runs fine without it, for me at least.

      • mysticdarkhack

I’m running on my own build of CyanogenMod CM7, I removed the old Music.apk and move the new Music.apk (google music 3.0) to /system/app, everything is working smoothly. Now, I’m waiting on for my invite to test out Google Music cloud services, and good luck to everyone who’s waiting on for the Google Music cloud service invite.

    no lockscreen controls :(

    • Greg

Widgetlocker. In the market. You’re welcome.

anyone who has an android phone and would like to request better music controls for you phone and make it one step closer then ios devises go to this website and leave your comment on the bottom saying you want better music controls to be realeased on the next version of android!!! http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15109&can=4&q=type%3DEnhancement&colspec=ID @twitter-40487818:disqus @webmastir2:disqus @8f928c6bf6ef9290da1cd3ade022fa81:disqus @google-f1d982673c577ff710b317e80349afb0:disqus @d6c39b3bc2cf2c5f105adbacaf89d730:disqus

    • John

      no free* lockscreen controls

  • Greg

Now.. I wonder how long it’ll take for the “beta” links/emails to come out so we can actually test it. I have SD Card space I’m trying to free up….

  • Anonymous

Smooth as butter now on the XOOM.

  • http://twitter.com/daniel_ohh Daniel Ogilvie

Been playing with it for a while and it doesn’t have all the features and menus we saw with the leaked version from a few weeks ago. (i.e. nowhere to setup your account to enable streaming.)

    • MDB

Still no gapless playback which is annoying…

      • Risenequinox

Poweramp has it with the latest update i believe.

    • Anonymous

Yeah i noticed that too. Also wish it was just a update the the stock music app. Now we have two android music apps.

      • http://twitter.com/daniel_ohh Daniel Ogilvie

Yeah, that is a problem. I just used Titanium to freeze the old one.

        • Anonymous

Just sucks for the people who don’t root they are stuck with it. Also we
          lose the lock screen controls.

          • tanknspank

I’m guessing you’re on a DX/2 then? Any app such as the motorola music player would not have been able to been updated, since Motorola would want to have their hands on it and modify it how they see fit before releasing it in an update for the phone. An Android phone which comes with the stock android music app would most likely be updated straight from the market, leaving only one music app. Like, someone using a Nexus S or 1 would have had their stock music app updated.

          • Anonymous

            yeah im on the D2

          • Faceface

I have a Nexus S, and the new music app does NOT replace the old one. That is indeed strange.

          • tanknspank

Wow, that is surprising. Are you running stock Android 2.3.4? or a custom rom?

          • Nxus1ne

I’m on the Droid 1 and got an update notification from the Market to update the music app and it successfully replaced it.

  • Anonymous

It also updated on the xoom

  • Riverjao

Thank you Droid Life! I freaking love you!

  • Jay P

    got it
