Google Introduces Androidify, “Make Android Your Own” by Turning it into You

One of the most entertaining Android apps that I can recall in a long time is now available to everyone on the market, and it’s called Androidify.  Ever wanted to know what you would look like as Andy the Android?  That’s exactly what you get to find out with Androidify.  You can turn yourself or your entire contact list into our favorite robot and share those creations with the world.

Try doing some strict barbell curls (competition style) and eating more protein. Maybe some chin-ups, too. You’ll get there; we believe in you!

I guess we’re going to be seeing lots of Androidified avatars around the interwebs.

The new download links do not work for me on my phone browser. My understanding with the new browser based market was that the link is supposed to take you to your phone based market app if you click an Android Market link. I have cleared defaults for my browser and the Market and I still cannot force these links to open in my phone based Market. Kinda frustrating… I have the HTC Incredible. Anyone wake having these issues? I’m having this issue with every Market link that gets posted here.

    • Curtisthefox

      *else not wake

Not sure what your issue is. I view it on my laptop. I tell the app to install from my laptop. I check my phone and within 5 mins the app is install and ready to run on my phone. OG droid, I think your issue is with the phone browser, but if your on your phone couldnt you just go to the marketplace and dl it there?

Happy Valentine’s Day Droid-Life! Im going to play around with this before the romance tonight :)

Yeah because Google releases updates for the DX, not Motorola.

    • Anonymous

As stew mentioned, Google doesn’t make the updates for anyone. They release it to work on a certain device(nexus *) then the manufacturers have to make it work on their own devices. Mooblur or other manufacturer skins and hardware don’t always play nicely so it takes then a while to release.

Amazing. A Droid Life reader has no idea what an open OS is.

  • Anonymous

If I was an Android, I’d have a perpetually unlocked bootloader.

Happy Valentine’s Day Droid Lifers. Today, I even heart the iPhans among us. <3

YES! that’s what I thought it did at first! but then I realized that I had to do it myself…

Whenever I make myself in a game, no one else thinks it looks like me.. I hope they add that camera function.

No more QR Codes? Forcing everyone through the market, huh? That’s a shame.

The market site is only a bookmark away with today’s amazing technological advances in internet browsers, and of course, the all important wireless install from the market to the phone. You can have your QR.

    This is really cool!

When I first saw the heading ” Google Introduces Androidify, “Make Android Your Own” I thought Google is jumping on the Rooting Community train But, oh well :( Still “Nice App” :)

    • Anonymous

Google is all the way on board with the rooting community. Since it’s an open OS, though, manufacturers are free to make closed and skinned versions. We, in turn, are free to only choose open, unlocked handsets.

UPDATE: Okay, this is f’n freakin’ bloody outrageously fantastically supremely outstandingly fun and brilliant! Thanks Google, and thanks Droid Life/Kellex for the heads up; without this site, I would have never known about any of this stuff until months later.

kind of surprised they have time to develop corny stuff like this

      Hey…free is free.

Quite contrary, this is one of the little fun things which makes the platform lovable. Great marketing decision. Google needs to pull more tricks like that.

All Google employees (at least, on the creative side) are given 20% of their work week to just come up with cool stuff. Some of it finds its way into their “80%” side of things. I think it’s an awesome idea; you can’t stifle creative people and expect them to come up with interesting, new things (you hear me, Nokia?).

    how to post it up?

Now that’s what i am talking about, great commercial GOOGLE, you guys can teach Moto/Verizon a thing or two about marketing. Why don’t we ever see these types of commeccials on the TV screen??

    • Dione Casey

ive seen that iphone commercial for verizon during the super bowl i think

      • Anonymous

        D: that’s not funny

  • Anonymous

    Two things:

    1. Holy creepy vacant white eyes, Batman!

    2. If Microsoft made this app you would have to pay for every accessory with “points” that have some arbitrary exchange rate with real money.

Damn, I look good as an Android

  • Anonymous

Really cool! Looks like Google has their own version of Apple’s happy go lucky promos except its not mind control.

    • Anonymous

Your right on man, I think if more consumers saw this thype of “Happy Go Lucky” commercials during shows like American Idol, alot more consumers would be buying into the Android.community more.

      • Anonymous

And I agree with your previous comment. Google needs to step up in the marketing department because as of now all it seems like is word of mouth propaganda.

        • Anonymous

Long live the Rooting Community lol, maybe one day Verizon will wake up and
try a fresh approach to marketing and PR :)

Already made mine….very fun little app and im sure more tweaks and options will come the more popular it gets. Hopefully they can integrate it better too in the future with different apps and such
