Netflix App Spotted on LG Revolution, Headed to 4G LTE Devices

We went hands-on with the LG Revolution yesterday only the device we used, didn’t have this.  In fact, the device we played with was almost like stock Froyo, so I don’t know where this skinned version came from.  The point though, is that the Netflix Android app was apparently loaded up on some of the LG devices at Verizon’s 4G LTE event and Unwired View had a rep that wanted to actually talk about it.  So it must be coming right?  Check the video after the break.

  • Chris

The day Netflix finally makes its way to droid phones will be the day i stop watching tv. and the week (or month) before my droid dies from being used too much.

  • Anonymous

Can’t wait to root that new moto and use 4g wifi tether.

  • Anonymous

    Better be on bionic!

  • Anonymous

I’m gonna be a sad panda if the netflix app only works on 4g phones. My DX can more than handle it.

    • DBK

Lol I see what you did there.

I agree. That would be a kick in the balls if the app will only be available/usable on 4G phones. -_-

Nothing will ever be as revolutionary as when the OG Droid first came out.

  • Bigrob60

Everyone needs to realize that the Atrix is designed to replace corporate netbooks for buisness travelers so they don’t have to lug around everything. It will most likely be designed computing/VPN support. Jha said this last summer sometime, when he was talking about smartphones replacing work laptops/netbooks. This is his first entry to that. So it NEEDS 1Gb RAM to do all that. The Bionic Doesn’t b/c it is not designed for it. It would be nice if it did I do agree & will not argue that at all. :]

  • Bigrob60

    BING!!!!!! :[

I read on the Netflix TechBlog that they are developing the app for phone-specific use and will be rolling out the app on select phones. They want a platform wide app but they are having problems getting it secured.

From the blog … “The hurdle has been the lack of a generic and complete platform security and content protection mechanism available for Android. The same security issues that have led to piracy concerns on the Android platform have made it difficult for us to secure a common Digital Rights Management (DRM) system on these devices.”

I hope it does make it to the market eventually.

Is Verizon getting anything equal to or better than the atrix on at&t?

    • Anonymous

Yes the bionic, and it has a newer better blur than the atrix…

      • Buckgrad

Same phone basically. But AT&T gets the docking features w Atrix, VZW Bionic does not.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1276750673 Earl Painter

How is it the same phone basically when the atrix has 1gig ram and the bionic has 500 something?

  • Jawshua

So many new phones to choose from! I really wish I just upgrade whenever I felt like it, I don’t know why they care, they get more money.

But I think I’ll be gunning for the Bionic!

  • joker

Yeah bing no thank you fail once again

  • Buckgrad

Due to security concerns of the studios, Netflix had said it was working on an app for Android model by model…I’m betting they only do the 4G phones. If so, not good.

  • Isaacstaco

whats wrong with Bing? i always hear people bad mouth it, but why?

    • Anonymous

      It’s not Google.

    • DBK

      Because it’s Bing.

    • Anonymous

      It’s Microsoft.

  • Wes

    OMFG NETFLIX??? I’M SOLD!!!

  • Anonymous

OK, does anyone have the apk for netflix?

  • http://twitter.com/EvanTheGamer EvanTheGamer

I wonder if/when Netflix will eventually be available for Droid X? I hope so, as they mentioned this a few months back, but with all the 4G LTE phones coming out, I wonder if that will even be a possibility. Let’s hope!

  • Nathanbull33

News sure is slow for you guys being at CES and all.. One post for today and its 2? Anyways have you guys seen the ORB BR disc yet? supposedly a 20 dollar disc you can put into your interenet capable blu-ray player to access stuff from Hulu, netflix, amazon, etc. and there is an app for android to control the disc! Sounded like a neat idea to me anyways.

  • http://twitter.com/mnkyhead mnkyhead

why bing, way to ruin a great phone….

    • Jas

I think you meant good phone.

A great phone would have dual core, stock Android, and not be Bing-ed out.

  • Mr Carteratl

i had the droid, now i have the droid 2 as my OG replacement, and honestly im not impressed with any of vzw lineup we seen yesterday, dont get me wrong the phones are nice, but it seems each phone lacks 1 or 2 things vice versa…..kellex put up a comparison sheet on specs etc. thx in advance…..

    • Anonymous

I disagree. The droid bionic is extremely impressive. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it the only one with a Tegra 2? I’m not very impressed with your Droid2, sir. :P

      • DBK

What’s wrong with the Droid 2, huh? (Be careful how you answer that)

The Bionic is, but I agree with Mr. C. The phones seem to have parts of the whole. Not one phone has everything that’s been offered there. Also, I have yet to see any phones with a physical keyboard. Need more options.

  • Anonymous

Wow, that UI was actually pretty decent. I’d like for customizable dock ala Launcher Pro, but… meh, that wasn’t as bad as it could have been.

And I think I just peed myself in excitement for the Netflix app. :D

  • Beeze82

Looks like vzw gunna fall behind again just when they WAS starting to be bad ass

  • Anonymous

I wish they would hurry up with this app. It sucks to wifi tether my ipod touch to my droid to watch my netflix movies. Once I get this app, I can finally use my ipod as a paper weight.

  • Mr. Steve

    Netflix=hell yeah!, bing=wtf, hell no.

  • OneBadHemi

Anybody notice that it has Bing

    • Anonymous

      Oh crap. x_x

      root

    • Chris G

      F-Bing

  • Bob Jope

No dual core processor to help with that Netflix? No thanks, VZW.

    • DroidzFX

Netflix doesnt require a dual core. It runs fine on all the other mobile devices that currently dont have dual cores. People are getting hung up on this spec.

    Movies on the go!

I’ve been with droid-life since the OG days, but after Ver*zon taking away the new every two, I think we should include other carriers of droid brands, eg the atrix……this phone is a beast, I mean come on 1 gig ram?! and a lap top dock, Verizon just bit their butt with me by not giving us loyal customers our new every two. I’m not saying I’ll be switching, but come on…the atrix is the beast, with specs comparable to the xoom…..oh yeah and a finger print reader……

    • Anonymous

Uhhmm… there are no other carriers of Droid brands. :-) I do agree that AT&T one-upped VZ a bit with the Atrix, but AT&T is still… well… AT&T, and I don’t see them getting the Xoom. I’d take an OG Droid on VZW over Atrix on AT&T any day of the week. Of course, I’m kind of silly about wanting to have service when I need it…

In any case, don’t forget about Android Life.

      • Anonymous

never…droid-life for life!!!! *closed android life tab*

      • tommytmt

Haha “of course, I kind of silly about wanting to have service when I need it”… +10 for that comment!

    • http://twitter.com/EvanTheGamer EvanTheGamer

Where the hell is the dislike button?

Screw AT&T. I say screw ‘em.

      …lol

Also, even if AT&T paid to me use their Atrix, I still wouldn’t as I really dislike them as a company. No ‘beast’ of a phone will ever change that. Not even the Atrix.

      Verizon and Droid4-LIFE!

      • jason w.s.

Yeah! Screw those bastards right in their mouth holes!! Jk, but no really, F*ck AT&T ;-P

    • Hamman

All I have to say is…. Data cap.

    • DBK

      A*&T sucks.

      Bionic is better.

      Nuff said.
