Spoke to a VZW rep today and they mentioned that this would be a 1.3ghz proc…..Who knows…..

One explanation is that the processor in the OG droid is meant to run at 600 MHz, the artwork that they use for that OMAP chip makes it dissipate more heat if you OC it. The solution in the developed kernels-e.g. ChevyNo1- is that the operating voltage is reduced, hence less current and less ohmic heat loses. The chips on the D2 and D2G have smaller technology, so they use less energy. The batteries are essentially the same. The technology is better on the D2 and D2G

This is a WORLD phone.. so when devs crack this.. watch out for FREE data/voice when your abroad (not stateside) I know VZ will be hating that.. lol.. SIM cards can be programmed you know..

I still have my original DROID going on a year next month. All I can say is: I like the DROID 2 Global (and not the Pro for having now job) but, why the heck did you move my damn back button? Seriously. Makes it hard for a person who holds it right handed to click. It just hurts too damn much to move my thumb into a near 90 degree angle.

I know how you feel. It’s a bit harder to use one-handed as well but I got used to it. Forced to use it that way.

I'm really torn on things. Still with an unrooted (did it once and undid in the 2.1 days, now who knows) D1.

At the rate new phones are coming I'm seriously wondering if waiting for a Android 3 would be better than any of these that are going to come out for the fall/winter still on 2.2.

To me the global thing is huge but only if i can unlock the sim slot to use a local prepaid sim card instead of roaming on VZ internationally, which at the cost of is useless. So the locked bootloader of the D2 is an issue.

Screen size is an issue but not huge to me, but then the MLB app was just updated to give live video of the playoffs on only the DInc and 2 other phones. That is also another issue for me.

I think I'm still in a wait and see, but so far of the globals, i like the d2.
