The Droid Eris is a great phone I’m not understanding the complaints I have an Eris and set it next to a Droid x and an r2d2 version of Android and the Eris loaded angry birds faster than both Droid x and r2d2 Droid. It does all the same Shit to and to my understanding smoother. There is always a way to update ur Eris to froyo if ur a risk taker…

I dont see the big deal. The phone didnt cost that much and it still does all kinds of stuff. I got mine when they first came out and still love the thing. Ill prolly keep it for 2 more years then upgrade. I remember carrying bag phones so I guess i dont get all the fuss.

This makes me very angry. I totally agree with what you say but Verizon needs to make amends with us Eris users. Give us early upgrades, replace the phone with the Moto Droid, something… Does anyone else have the freaking trackball problem? I can’t get out of Eris even though the phone is virtually unusable unless I stay away from apps like google maps (where the track ball causes the darn thing to scroll east nonstop…)

Verizon, I’m looking at you! Fix this problem or you’ll have one unhappy customer to deal with for the next two years…

I care. When I bought this phone last November (2009), there was no such thing as the Incredible, X, Droid 2 or even Nexus One. There was the HTC Hero on Sprint and the original Moto Droid on Verizon.

Having tested out all 3, I definitely felt most comfortable with the Eris for a number of reasons. If I had any inkling that the Eris would basically become dumpster fodder within 3 months, I never would’ve bought it in the first place. Now I’m tied to a 2 year contract and a dated phone that has maxed out at OS 2.1 and doesn’t have access to a good number of OS 2.2 apps in the market.

So, yes, many Eris owners do care. Please don’t stereotype us.

Verizon is complete bs. I can't believe they're not giving the update to the Eris or the hero owners. Soon as my contract runs out I'm switching company's for sure. That's what happens when a company gets to big. They forget about there customers. VZW sucks donkey d**ks!!!!!!!……

For people pissing and moaning about the Eris not getting 2.2, google KaosFroyo. I've had Froyo on my eris for a few months now. It runs better than my eris did with any official update. THIS is how the phone should have come stock! It's quick, and there's a TON of room on it. And the way Kaos is with the updates, any bugs found will be worked out in about a week and you'll have a new update.

Ah, the plucky little Eris. I had one, and will remember it fondly as my intro to Android. Underpowered and tiny, it had no business getting 2.1, really, so 2.2 was never really an option. Sorry, Eris owners, but do yourself a favor and eat the upgrade fee to get into an Incredible…you'll thank me.

Droid 1 is not really outdated. I have froyo, flash, i am rooted and can run up to 1ghz overclocked with zero problem, and it holds it’s own with pretty much anything out there. I can also probably go easily for another 4 to 6 months and be fine with what i have and not worry about upgrading.

Mister Vicious – the droid 1 is not in the same boat as that terrible eris. The d1 is by far still one of it not the most popular device on verizon. People don't like that moto skin on the x or d2 and most consumers would never root there device let alone even know what that means. I do not plan on upgrading my d1 to the d2 or the golbal droid or the x. My d1 is over clocked at 1.25 ghz running flawlessly my flash player is awesome and wireless tether is beautiful. As far as ikm concerned the eris should be moved to metro pcs and kill it of finally. Comparing the eris to the d1 is like comparing the palm centro to the palm pre plus. Ridiculous.

Just root your eris… gon on the market and get the app easy root for droid eris u can load a 2.2 rom into it dont freak out

I don't know, I rooted and loaded up a Froyo build on a friend's Eris, and it works wonderfully. Not as good as my Droid 1 runs, but better than it was running stock 2.1 sense.
