Facebook Home Now Available on Android for Select Devices

• I have S3 mini and isn’t compatible?? and a S1 Vibrant is compatible!!!! please I need and explication =S

• I can’t download in play google for HTC One X, say don’t supported!!!

• I have downloaded my phone and I have installed. I see it as a good software. I would love to use them.

• Epic fail you can’t make a phone call on a phone without going through several steps. This thing is a dog of an app. Facebook is paying reviewers because this sucks. I use facebook every day don’t hate them at all but I hate this app they released this on a Friday so the stock market would not react to all the hate this is going to get as it is junk.

• I predict facebook home will be a hit for people that:
  1. Can’t go 10 minutes without checking facebook
  2. Are too lazy or afraid to install a more customizable launcher like Apex or Nova
  3. Never change anything on their phone (shortcuts, widgets) after taking it out the box

  The rest of us will uninstall it within 5 minutes… or avoid it altogether like the plague.

• Galaxy S2 rooted with AOKP Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and FB Home is not compatible. Any work around.

• Installed on my kindle fire. It looks better on larger screen. Surprisingly on Google Play kindle Fire shows as supported even with no build.prop change. After install though I need to change build.prop to enable.

• On the play store it says its compatible with the OG Droid.

• Works fine on my Verizon Gnex. Chat Head is the only thing worthy out of it which you can just update your FB Messager app.

• Just tried side loading the apk that Android Police posted. Won’t work on my Droid RAZR MAXX HD, BUT the new floating head feature in the messaging app works just fine.

• Why no Galaxy Nexus compatibility? I mean, I don’t plan on using it, but I do want to try it out.

• I like this as a Facebook app extension. Its kind of interesting but way to limited as a home screen. People who like simplicity and Facebook will love it. I do like the design though.

• Does this not work on a rooted Nexus 4?

• chat heads also works as your normal sms/mms app as well. go into settings and enable it. works good so far for me. pretty cool

• Compatible with my TF101 but not my GNex? That’s odd

• If you want chat heads just get the messanger chat heads come with that so you don’t have to get facebook home for the best feat

• I wouldn’t mind this if it was just the lock screen… But I don’t like the lack of everything else once I want to do something on my phone. Nice live wallpaper though

• If you’re on a Nexus 4 device just edit your build.prop manufacturer to “samsung”, worked for me!

• dwn loaded on my note 2, strange i select another launcher and my lock screen was gone but fblauncher was in it’s place. had to go into fblauncher setting’s and turn off facebook launcher then lock screen came back so all is good untill i activate fblauncher again problem reoccurs just a fyi .

  • you can set it up to not show home when the screen turns on. it brought me to the lockscreen after i did that.

• It appears you have to be on a non rooted phone cause it say my phone isn’t compatible and I have an S3

  • You can be rooted to use FB Launcher.

  • if you’ve gone to the point of running a custom rom it’s definitely not worth installing Home – you’ll lose all the goodness that comes with the rom and replace it with an underdeveloped product that may be good after another 3 or 4 updates

    • It didnt seem to work on mine rooted with pacman rom sghi317 says its not supported yet

• agree with everyone that said they installed and then uninstalled 5min later – Home felt clunky and a pain in the ass to get to your other apps.

  However, I do enjoy Chat Heads (well, any head I can get for that matter)…

• Curious… I feel like a noob, but how do you uninstall this? I installed it on my S3 but when I go into Manage Apps, the Uninstall button is greyed out? My phone is rooted and running AOKP.

  • Use Titanium from the Play Store.

    • I was able to uninstall through the Play Store itself.

• installed it on my sgs3, 2 minutes later uninstalled. Maybe I didn’t give it enough time but my first impression: unbelievably stupid. Just launch the facebook app.

• Installed Home on my Note 2, tried it for 5 min, missed Nova launcher, uninstalled Home

• Tried it on my Note II just to say I experienced it.
  Even for Facebook diehards it seems limited. IMO, I could get more done through the Facebook app. Facebook home just looks/feels like live wallpaper that I can interact with. You can make it so that you can see your notification bar which is good but overall it feels like a widget or wallpaper gone wild. It’s funny that it gives you options for how much data it uses (High Medium Low). In the end, I wouldn’t even call it a home for Facebook diehards. What they should have made was a screensaver that pulled in your updates or displayed your uploaded photos.

  • How did you uninstall? If I go into manage apps, the Uninstall option is greyed out.

    • Have you tried uninstalling while you’re in the Play Store?

      • Thanks – it works that way, just not through the Settings > Apps in Android.

    • I seen you figured this out already but I was able to uninstall in the settings menu. Not sure why that would have been grayed out for you.

  • It’s got a whopping 2 1/2 stars! Damn, lots of people out there treating this thing with kid-gloves apparently. I half expected all 1’s and a clamoring for the addition of negative scoring. 😛

  • Yeah, I just checked it out. It’s totally awful. It was on my phone for all of 5 minutes, and that’s likely an exaggeration.

  • Yep, exactly. I tried it on a SGS3 and was impressed for about 2.5 seconds, and then I went on with my day.

    Guess it’s Nova Launcher Prime here to stay! And honestly, truth be told, that new Everything.Me home launcher offers WAY more than Facebook Home Launcher. Guess I just thought it would be the “Next Big Thing”, but apparently it isn’t. Damn. I was excited all week. Facebook Home did not live up to the hype. At all.

    I know everyone expected the new home launcher to majorly flop, but considering the amount of time I spend on blasted Facebook(at home, at work, at the movie theater, in the rest room, at the gas station, at the art show, at Comic-Con, at the zoo, you get the point), I was really expecting something “MORE” from Facebook Home. A new and different kind of home launcher experience. Of course Facebook Home would only appeal to those that actually use the social media site. Ah well. Nothing to lose but my hope and patience. And time spent getting all excited over nothing this past week.

    And with all of that said, maybe in a few months when they can work out all the kinks and make it “better”, I may give it another go. But until then, it’s all about Nova Launcher Prime!

• Nice, Chat Heads integrates with SMS… Hopefully Google can take a hint with Babel!

• the way to do it is go into Facebook>Settings>Enable Home> Install through play store when prompted

• Tried facebook home for approx. 30 seconds, hated it, uninstalled. Success! As a side note, the new messenger with chat heads is phenomenal

• The app isn’t on Play Store at the moment apparently. I just checked the Play Store, and it only gave me Facebook, Messenger and Pages.
