The news application that has been quite the hit on the iPad has now been announced as coming to the Android world thanks to Verizon today. The two companies have signed up to bring the subscription based application to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 first. The Verizon version of the tablet will have it pre-loaded and the Galaxy Tab 7.7 that was announced yesterday will get the application at a later date, no word on any other devices.
You get a week of the Daily free on Verizon and after that you can sign up for a monthly or yearly subscription, which will cost you $3.99 and $39.99 respectively. This is a great option for any newshead out there, the Daily is a great outlet. Will anyone take advantage of this if it comes to other devices like the XOOM or WiFi Galaxy Tab 10.1?
Good news for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE owners! If you accept the latest 351MB update that includes TouchWiz, you can root it with the exact same root patch that you applied after initially purchasing the tablet and also after receiving the last update. It’s as simple as downloading a .zip file, dropping it onto your device’s storage, booting into recovery and then applying it. Thanks for keeping that wide open, Samsung.
If you own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with 4G LTE on Verizon, you should have a pretty major update available to you any day now. The update is version EL01 and includes TouchWiz for tablets along with a ton of other fixes and improvements. The document above (click to enlarge) will walk you through all of the major changes such as the mini apps tray, quick panel, and social hub widget. If stock Honeycomb was becoming a bore, this should give you some much needed spice.
The update itself is 351MB in size, so be sure you are in a strong LTE area or on WiFi before attempting to download.

Day 3 of DL and NVIDIA’s Two Weeks of Holiday Tegra is here! We knocked out two of our ten tablets on Monday and Tuesday, but this is only the beginning. Counting today, you have another 7 chances to walk away as a new Tegra 2 powered tablet owner. What do you say we give away a shiny new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 to celebrate?
As one of our favorite Android tablets to date, there aren’t many this thin or with a display as beautiful. If there was one tablet to get your Tegra Zone gaming fix on, this would most definitely be it. And speaking of Tegra, you may want to consider Zen Pinball THD as your first Tegra-built game. Who doesn’t love pinball?
So who wants it? (more…)
Can’t seem to find a holiday gift for that certain tech-lover in your life? Woot has you covered today and are offering refurbished WiFi-only 16GB Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets for just $319.99. Until the Asus Transformer Prime drops, this tablet is still one of the best on the Android tablet market. Super lightweight, thin, and powerful.
Not bad at all.
Samsung thinks they have worked out all of the WiFi-only Galaxy Tab 10.1 update issues and are now rolling out the Android 3.2 update once again. Last week, Samsung began distributing Android 3.2 to tablets. All of sudden, users (even our readers) started reporting that the update had broken WiFi, Bluetooth, and auto-rotate. What a disaster. Samsung immediately halted the update and are back with an updated version that should fix everything.
If you happen to be one of the infected users with no WiFi, you can use Kies Air to access the update, then sideload it. Let’s hope we don’t have anymore issues. Good luck.
Two weeks ago, we announced our November Gobbler Gaming Giveaway (NGGG), a month long contest that includes four (4) NVIDIA Tegra 2 powered tablets and a couple of gaming-inspired prize packs. Each week, we have handed out a different tablet, with the prize packs (Jamboxes and $25 gift cards) being tacked on during this giveaway and the last one. Not only is our winner going to receive a Galaxy Tab 10.1, but some cash and an incredible mobile speaker to go with it.
With over 3,900 entries in just 5 short days, we are officially blown away for the 3rd straight week in a row. So as to not delay this announcement any further, let’s get to it. The winner is… (more…)
