This is one of the ways to get better battery performance. You can only make the battery so big, unless some new chemical compounds are developed.
As an example, I can tell you the 2020ma battery in my DNA gets about twice the screen time I got with the 2100ma battery in the GNex.

Really won’t know till we see some benchmarks, but I’d suspect both will be rediculously powerful for a handheld device. When Qualcomm was demo’ing the Adreno 320, currently in the S4 Pro/Prime, it was capable of producing graphics on the level of a 360 or PS3. These are a step up from that..

I’m not complaining. Just making light of the fact people will likely not have a way to watch their 4K video in 2013 for under $4000. However I doubt we’ll be seeing any phones shipping with this chips until towards end of the year.

This sounds absolutely amazing but I read in the press release at the bottom of the article of the new chipsets supporting third generation LTE networks (up to 150mb/s)… Is there any date yet for when we could see these kinds of speeds offered in the US? I can currently only get about 40mb/s on Verizon’s network.

It’s not dead, but it is dying.

Moore’s Law is about transistor size. It halves somewhere between 2 years and 3 years now. Processing speed can increase more quickly than that, thanks to architectural optimization and clock speed increases. Battery improvements have made clock speed increases possible, software improvements have allowed multi-core chips to run nicely, and ARM’s flexibility has allowed architecture improvements.

I assure you, its many times faster than the OMAP 4430 in the RAZR Maxx. Clock speed isn’t the only factor for performance.

NVidia always overhypes their processors. I’ll wait for the actual usage tests, but if I had to bet my money would be on the Snapdragon line besting the Tegra 4.
